Oranges Are Good For You

I love the fruit and the color orange. Sadly, I became allergic to oranges a few years ago and can only enjoy the fruit in SL now, but the color is still a pleasure in both worlds. With oranges this brililant and rich – all I can say is orange you happy I took pictures?

Last night I had a lovely conversation with Abraxxa Anatine, the creative force at EarthStones, who was looking for a skirt featured in a post a while back.  She generously gave me some of her most recent releases including the luscious Fire/Silver version of her Crystal Elements necklaces she released yesterday. It comes with two pieces – a shorter necklace that attaches to the spine – where my top’s collar attaches. Lovely, though, to have two options. As chance would have it, I had just bought this lustrously glossy orange shirt from Good Look Designs. Together, they look good enough to eat – so long as you haven’t any allergies.

Vicious Girls 2.0

posted by Gidge Uriza

Looking for a fun Urban Decay sort of spot to shoot, Cajsa and I hearkened back to our past and went to the newly remodeled Vicious Wasteland. With ability to build and run scripts, this is a great spot for shooting photos or people – depending on your preference.

We were choosing to spotlight the fashions of one of The Grid’s Russian designer’s Olya Lowey. Olya’s designs vary between ultra-modern visions of future fashions to Romanov velvet influences, all with sharp details and many including shoes and accessories. Continue reading

No more falsehoods or derisions

This line of the song seems so appropriate today for some reason. However, it is purely coincidence that this wsa the next line of the song.

Yes, it’s  odd title for a post, but I am working my way through the songs of Hair for the Hair Festival. Don’t worry, I will stick to the safe songs and promise not to post a series of entries each titled from lines of Sodomy. So! Hair Fair! My first post after Hair Fair opened was about this stunning hair from Exile that I had noted when it was first shown on the feed and my mad dash to get it during the sneak peek. So, imagine my surprise when I signed on and received a lovely thank you gift….and yet another hair style that I really like. This time with  a cap that changes color with a simple touch. We Twinkle Below

House of Heart came through with a hair style that can top any twinkling diva when creating this Tousled confection replete with black ostrich feathers and everything but the cherry on top.Pairing it with this twinkling Twilight dress from the one and only… You know this dress so perfectly epitomizes this designer’s aesthetic that I should not even tell you who she is. You should just know from looking.

Ah! You all guessed Digit Darkes, didn’t you? Go to the head of the class.  Now you really didn’t think I would keep it a secret. Right this moment I am envisioning hundreds of fashionistas wearing this dress and converging together on the wonderful garden at Wanderstill and twinkling and swirling in field after field of flowers. And love will steer the stars!

But I won’t be steering anything after this photo shoot. I had so much fun making this wonderful Bishwear hair swing by going back and forth on the pose pad – next-previous-next-previous- that I made myself dizzy.  I have a bias for hair that moves and swings, and this Hair Fair offering called Seductress is well-named. It seduced me into playing like a six-year-old with my pose pad. And the blouse…well I had to shoot it with two different looks, it’s that good a top. Continue reading

When the Moon is in the Seventh House

I had one priority during last night’s pajama party/sneak peek at the Hair Expo. Come what may, I was going to find the incredible Kaori hair from Exile and snatch it up. And I did and thanks to that, you see it here in all its wild disarray. I am in love.

So, the Hair Expo? Laggy of course, but hey, swimming and shopping at the same time must do wonders of aerobic goodness for your pixel heart. Overwhelming – so much hair and only one head. But we all know what it really is. It’s the Fashionista’s Big Rock Candy Mountain!

But that’s not all today, Stiletto Moody has new shoes though she’s only teasing up by letting us see them. They don’t go on sale until 6PM tonight. Still, a girls gotta look. Continue reading

Soooooooo…….You're Pierced, Eh?

posted by Gidge Uriza

This is a true life tale – inspired by the fashion in these photos. What you see is another DELICIOUS win from the SN@TCH lucky chair – AWESOME dress eh?

Once Upon A Time,

Dressed about like this….a young Gidge sat in a cavernous dark Goth Bar in Seattle with her boyfriend – the King of the Top Hat Wearing Goth boys.  The Biggest Scariest Goth Man (who at about 45 clearly lived in his Mom’s basement and worked at the Target by Day and was only out to scare the 20 somethings by the light of the moon) came strolling over to our dark and pensive corner to exchange angst with us.

During the course of the conversation, it is revealed that he’s sporting a Prince Albert piercing. In my dark and gloomy youth, I wasn’t aware of what that was, so I innocently asked what that meant.

And he showed me – RIGHT THERE. Continue reading

Chantilly Lace

Chantilly lace and a pretty face
And a pony tail hanging down
That wiggle in the walk and giggle in the talk
Makes the world go round

Okay, I just love that song and would dig it out for anything, but it seems to fit with the lovely lace in this jacket. I have another prim jacket of lace made by Rano Noel that I blogged recently. Sadly her store is closed, her website is down and she has not responded to several im’s and note card inquiries. I can only conclude the has left SL for awhile.

Because that jacket was a wardrobe staple I pulled out a lot, I knew I had to find one that met those same needs so I would not be repeatedly blogging one item that you have no chance of finding. So I asked my friend Miffy to make a new one. Basically what was needed was a prim jacket (so you can wear it over those frequent jacket-layer-only tops), that was tintable and had a lace texture to reveal the top underneath and not look too heavy. What do you call a dress that is almost free?

So…I am wandering around the Best of Italian Design sim – popping in to test a store SLUrl I added to the directory – and discovered OC: Orage Creations and dropped everything I was doing just to enjoy the marvelously surreal designs. Although most were priced about average for high fashion gowns, there were two dresses indistinguishable from the others in quality, but marked down without fanfare to 10 and 20L. I snapped them up and decided to share the wealth by spreading the word. The first one I put together with MiaSnow’s magnificently eccentric Wild Woman Hair – a magic chair gift. She kindly set the chair to 5 minutes, so it won’t take you all day to win. I thought the wild span of the hair and the wild black plumage at the top of the dress was a nice pairing.

Meow

Another of the radically different and interesting skins my friend Hatchy has made is this Neko skin with hand-drawn fur covering the entire body. The first time she gave me a skin of this design, before she had completed all of it, she forgot to tell me what it was, so I kept waiting for it to finish rezzing.  I thought it would be fun to style an outfit for this skin – but not necessarily to make it Neko.  Indeed, my choice right off the top was the very un-Neko Baiastice.
