Well, I don’t have a ponytail, but I do have a wiggle in my walk, so long as my AO is turned on. I picked this up from Tres Blah at Collabor88 last time – not this time, so don’t get too excited. I have been wearing it the last couple days and thought it worth blogging simply because the quality of the work on this dress is exciting.
This is the 4th and last of the Bit of.. necklaces at Balderdash that pay homage to the elements, earth, fire, water and air. This last one reminds me of a song that always makes my sister get quite weepy.
If I could save time in a bottle

It is a wistful song and there is a wistful thread to these bits of elements – a sense of collection for remembrance as well as for any mystical properties of protection or power.
Hair Fair has opened with around 100 different hair designers selling oodles of hair to raise money for Wigs for Kids. Every single hair style sold at Hair Fair sends a portion of the proceeds to the charity. So why am I posing with 2007 hair? Well, I am busy sorting the hair fair styles into long, medium, short and other types of styles for some upcoming mega-posts. I also want to remind everyone that just because something is old, doesn’t mean it isn’t great Certainly this dress from Lost Dreams called Retro Red may be retro, but it’s hot and stylish.

I had noted a plurk announcing that Paper Couture had released their fall collection for sale just moments before I logged in that day, so thought “What the hell” and ported over. The place was crampacked with A-listers, some of whom were naked for some unknown reason (my TPV seems to leave people naked a long time for me, so OHAI I’ve seen a lot of you naked lately). This is my newbie self and yes, I was fortunate. When I entered Second Life, one of the first people I met was an SL mentor named Lilien Jewell who took it upon herself to ensure that I didn’t look like a noob for long. My 3rd day in SL I purchased the RaC (now LAQ) skin Amy – that she helped me choose and had a decent shape. The white skirt is the second purchase I made in Second Life – after the skin. The swimsuit I got a day later. I thought I was so clever putting a skirt over my swimsuit. The shoes were from Shiny Things. I think I was in SL six months before I knew there were more shoe stores than X3D (Digit Darkes), Shiny Things and Enkythings. This is me at about a month or so. It’s not my first hair which was Brittany from Bewitched, but I deleted that in an inventory purge long ago. You might note I had no jewelry. I really had none. It took me forever, it seems, to find jewelery stores that suited my taste. I searched for jewelry, but it was all too too too beauty pageant princess for me, so I just didn’t get any. From the first, I knew that I didn’t want bling. I also had no lashes. I didn’t even know they existed. I should add that I wore this outfit most of the time. It was my “go-to” outfit for the longest time.
My shape is shorter, with a larger waist and smaller breasts. My face is softer with more of a smile. I still don’t wear bling, and mixing and matching outfits is an everyday thing. I still wear that Mandy hair from Muism – though for this I am wearing a favorite from Amrita. The shoes are Maitreya which has become a favorite of mine for shoes. Back then, I might not have realized that I could wear my boots without the calf prims and would not have worn them because the calf prims intersect the pants. Now I wear jewelry almost all the time – and it’s my worst Second Life addiction.

Yes, you can wear Houdstooth, Polka Dots and Tiger Stripes together. It’s a question of scale and tone – not that the patterns conflict. They don’t because they are on the same scale and use the same color palette. When I saw the Houndstooth coat at Muism (which was 50% for their anniversary sale) I had to have it. Such retro chic and the classic lines are something a style icon like Jackie O might have worn over a black or white Oscar de la Renta shift dress. Audrey Hepburn would have worn it over black cigarette pants and a heavy knit sweater. Katherine Hepburn would have worn it over grey wool pants and a white man’s shirt. I saw many outfits in my mind, but I wanted to push it a bit and go with prints. It was pure serendipity that I received a blogger pack from A-Bomb right when I was contemplating my options.
My friend Faery Sola who makes the best damn pants in Second Life opened her own sim named MoonSong this weekend with two stores, her Studio Sidhe (pronouced She if you’re wondering) and FlipSide. I went to the grand opening party which was a lot of fun and want to congratulate her on her beautiful sim. Now, her sim is next to another gorgeous sim, Oubliette, and between those two sims there is this lovely bridge and that’s where I happened to shoot my pictures for this outfit which is a mashup for Muism and Sn@tch. Gidge and I were at Donna Flora shopping. Isn’t it cool that we grabbed completely different outfits. She went for the elegant dress with the huge brooch. I went for this summery little number with the bright, happy print.
