Brrr, it got chilly last night!

In an amazing turnaround, the temperature dropped last night so quickly that I almost turned on my heat. Then I had a conversation with myself that went more of less like this:

Heat in July? Are you nuts? But it’s soooo cold! So put on a sweater, silly! oh, yeah!

Funny how you forget those handy dandy sweaters after you move them into the bottom drawer for the summer. Digging out a sweater in RL prompted me to dig out an SL sweater as well – to prevent any SL goose bumps marring my much beloved new skin from Curio. Continue reading

Meanwhile Back at the Ranch…

While Gidge is off vacationing at the Bates Hotel, I thought I would laze about in this cute little outfit featuring a great new shirt from Ce Cubic Effect and an old skirt from our mutual friend Miffyhoi Rosca. This is the first skirt Miffy made, and she made it in red, green and brown plaids. Being an autumn-loving person, I immediately fell in love with all three. When I put on my new shirt last night, I immediately knew Miffy’s skirt would be a perfect option. Continue reading

Bird of Paradise

So, I have seriously fallen for Annalee Balut’s imaginative and lively designs and can’t wait to show you how lovely they are. Here you can see the upper half of her Anna outfit – with three options for the other half – all shown after the cut. Again, I am wearing one of Gala’s magnificent skins – Ivy this time. Like the Doily skin yesterday, this is one you want to wear the demo and zoom so you can see the  magnificent eye makeup. I am wearing Swallowtail’s wonderful Jupiter jewelry and coordinated shoes in green. The boldness of Swallowtail jewelry suits the vibrant ALB Dream Fashion designs.

Curio-sity Captured Cajsa

This is a quickie. I had another post ready to go when I forgot the store name on the skirt and in searching, discovered it was from a Business in a Box – and who can tell if it’s legitimate or not, so I threw everything out. However, I did have this cute outfit from Beauty Avatar that I wanted to highlight for its casual simplicity. I tossed it on with those elegant go-with-anything silk heels from Paper Couture and a Group Gift necklace I received from Curio today. The only thing that would make me happier with the top is if the two pieces of the top were on separate layers instead of one – because I like to play with my clothes.

Besides, what I really want you to focus on is the skin. Isn’t it lovely? Continue reading

Lingerie with Seven Laces

I came to the hobby of lace-making through default. It was one of the few handcrafts my irritatingly over-skilled sister had not already tackled and conquered and wrote the book to tell the tale. I will never write any books about my own handiwork, but they are coveted as presents – especially as I can only complete a few projects a year. Still, it has created a deep love of lace and the craft of lace-making.

That is why this lovely lingerie from Carnal caught my eye immediately. The crisp contrast between the black and the white, the many layers of lace, the almost tuxedo like neatness of the lines combine to make it an attention-grabbing set of lingerie. However, since so much lingerie is difficult to wear under clothing, I can resist a lot of great lingerie. What made this irresistible was the combination of laces, almost a Whitman’s Sampler of lace. Continue reading

The Answer is Blowing in the Wind

Do you ever want to shoot a photo with your hair blowing in the wind – and don’t want to mess with a prim-eating, lag-inducing, angle-limiting N30 just to get some wind effects?  Why not just get hair that’s already blowing in the wind?  Oops, did I sound a bit negative there? It’s my 8th day as a non-smoker and I am feeling cranky. Ignore that, and focus on the hair.

This particular hair is from Aden and is called Windblown – a name that captures everything you need to know which makes it one of the few hairstyles with a name that is actually descriptive of what it looks like and requires no memorization. Gosh, that’s cranky sounding too!!! I think I should just post a couple photos and the style notes and shut up.

Treasure Hunting

Now, is there a more drop everything event than a treasure hunt at Baiastice? Maybe, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head. Baiastice opened on a new sim yesterday and is celebrating by hosting a 20 item treasure hunt. You need to look for lovley gold pouches that are teeny, tiny wee little bags. It’s not easy, but then it’s still worth it because the freebies inside are delectable Baiastice items. The first of my finds was a formal gown, Old America, that Gidge would have loved for her Patriotica series. I snagged just the top for this outfit, though, going for a casual look. The skirt is another treasure hunt prize – a pouch with this skirt in three lovely colors. I added my Ce Ce Cubic blue jacket to finish the look. Continue reading

A really good shoo!

I have several different options to show you with this outfit, but first let me talk about the shoes. From H&U, these lovely ribbon sandals come in several color combinations that perfectly complement so many outfits. I have other sandals, but these are amazingly well-made. For the mix-and-matcher, the wonderfully flexible color combinations in the sandals are a strong complement to many outfits. To be frank, the shoes were the starting point for the outfit.

I started the outfit off with the Novocaine Frayed Top in green and brown (the jungle option) and matched that with leather pants from Adam n Eve. Feeling a bit frisky, I decided to wear the mischievous Lio hair style from 0 Style.  A photo without the jacket is at the end of the post. Continue reading

Poetic License

I found this fun little poem by Brooke Freeman on PoemHunter. It’s not one you would find in Tiger’s Bookstore for Rare Books, but I like it anyway. This is just a taste, to read the entire poem, go here.

I Know Fashion

I know fashion
Models posing, critics complaining
Celebs shopping, paparazzi stalking
I know fashion.

One of the bonuses of blogging about fashion is that I occasionally am offered a new outfit to review. AvaGardner Kung let me choose a couple outfits from Kungler’s to review, including this outfit called New College. It includes the brown tank, cream print top on the jacket layer, glitch pants, a prim skirt and a prim scarf. I am not wearing the scarf because I wanted to wear this Bishwear hair that would have hidden most of it anyway. Since the outfit is named New College, I decided to head to a nearby bookstore.
