Sunday Afternoons At the Velvet With George

Gidge has the perfect outfit for Sunday Afternoons at the Park with George and, someday, I am sure she will get around to blogging it. As for me, well my Sunday afternoons are usually spent at The Velvet where MDR business partner Maht spins a couple hours of great music mixes. This Sunday I wore this made-for-dancing Splatter r Dress  from Axel. I had stopped by Axel earlier on Sunday to admire their ambitious store remodel.  I was impressed with the beauty of the store and with the thoughtful arranging of outfits.  It was hard to limit my spending, but who can complain when the fruits are as adorable as this.

Boho Love

I love the Boho look – in particular, I love the dichotomy of so much embellishment and decorative effort put into casual wear. I love how Boho looks back to the past, but uses it in contemporary ways.  This begins with the fabulous embroidered satin blouse from Muism. The texturing and primwork are exquisite and it comes in several colors. I love the antique gold color in this one..and I knew the perfect shoes and pants to go with it.

Belle Lefavre Took Me Shopping

posted by Gidge Uriza

I only have two types of girlfriends in SL. Fashionista creators/bloggers or artistes. Both are bad on my wallet. I usually dump craploads of lindens any time I am out with either set – either shopping WITH them or supporting their/their friends art.

So imagine my delight when putzing along with friend Belle to have to drop me into Wetherby’s which is a new joint to me. I liked the little cocktail-esque gowns they had for sale and the prices were pretty good – until I realized they were selling complete outfits including shoes for only like $L30 more than the regular price of the dress.

Ahem. SCORE! Continue reading

Jackie & The Shrimp

AvaGardner Kungler passed me a pair of dresses yesterday, both called Jackie. The black one is above and I am certain I need not identify who inspired the dresses.  I love that era’s clothing with the simple elegance typified by Jackie Kennedy.  I tried on the the black dress first, loved it and shot the photos for the blog before trying on the second – the Jackie Red which came as a surprise to be because although it was the same cut and style, it was a print – a fabulous pop print that immediately made me want to shoot it too. Not wanting to do the exact same thing twice, I decided to shoot a remix and post them together.

The skirt is from the original Kunglers Jackie dress. I added a sweater from Fleur and a belt from Ornamental Life. Jean Shrimpton was the super-model of the early 60’s. In face, she might rightfully be considered the first international SuperModel – preceding Twiggy by a few years. She was the face of pop fashion and so I decided to style this more for Jean Shrimpton – the Shrimp.

Who Is The Meanest Girl In The Room?

OOOOO! I KNOW! PICK ME! I KNOW I KNOW!

OOOOO! I KNOW! PICK ME! I KNOW I KNOW!

One of the great benefits of living your SL in a swaddle of love and kindness is that no one ever sees you coming when you pull out your real evil self.

But sometimes, it’s fun to dress up your girly girl AV who adorns herself in pink chiffon as much as possible, in something like the COWBOY BOOTS OF  EVIL (god how much do I love Ivey for this name? – I BOUGHT THEM WITHOUT HARDLY LOOKING AT THEM – SOLELY BCSE THE NAME POPPED UP AS I CAMMED AROUND). The First and The Last

posted by Gidge Uriza

Any fashionista worth her salt knows the first thing she ever got at a good store. That FIRST thing she picked up, and knew she liked the place. For me, it was these shoes from Artilleri – I got them both with cherries and with the oxidized Warhol Marilyn on them.

I think they rule but tend to forget I have them. When new releases came out a couple of weeks ago I had to go see what was new since I hadn’t been in a long time.

And I got swept up into an Artilleri new release buying frenzy.

These pants make me glad Gidge does her situps every night. PHEW!

And then while I was in my flurry of purchasing I broke down and bought my first SL glasses ever. I couldn’t resist I thought they were a hoot.  They look like FINs on a 50s automobile.

Ok ok ok – I know I’m making sweet love to Artilleri all over the place but it’s just such a fun shop.  I guess I got caught up in the moment…..SUE ME.

Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall

When I looked in my clothing folder this morning I saw a lonely little jacket not in a folder, but sitting there all alone and loose. I recognized the name and realized it was one that I bought Humby Designs on my shopping spree. I just came without a folder and so I decided to make an outfit around it – the one you see above. It’s a great outfit. Still, gray plaid jacket and an autumn look is pretty predictable, isn’t it? So…for fun…I decided to take that simple jacket and style one outfit for each season.

All photos are shot at MDR’s Photo Park which is open to the public. Click on through if you want to see more details on the outfits. And – if any bloggers out there want to take a shot at making an All-Seasons Item post, I would love to see it.

Why Not?

I fell in love with this adorable little pinstripe skirt from Humby Designs and could not wait to style it. The folder comes with two lenghs for the dress, including one shorter than this. At first I put on a plain red blouse with red tights and black shoes. It looked nice enough, but it just did not have the pow I wanted to really show off how splendid this skirt really is, so I thought perhaps a different blouse and started trying on other red tops. Now somehow this top made its way into my red folder (perhaps a misfile since Prints are right above Red) and when I put it on, my first thought was Why Not?. So here we are.

Nordic Girls Need Love Too!

posted by Gidge Uriza

You’re being subjected to more of my vacation mind from when I put these clothes together.  I attended the grand reopening of Myth and was tickled to see this set – so I had to go back a few days later to pick it up. I knew it’d be perfect for some beach strolling or sand castle building. Continue reading
