Last Friday I DJ’ed at Vicious Southside and decided to dress the rocker chick part to the nth degree. When I got around to shooting the photos, though, I could not resist using the fun and avant garde poses from DARE – which means, of course, that I shot a pile of pictures. My outfit was mostly Mimikri – taking the bodice from a dress and mixing with pants and a jacket.

Donna Flora Challenge
Have you ever been to Donna Flora? If you have, you will understand what I mean when I say going to Donna Flora is like that Lays Potato Chip commercial that says “No one can eat just one.” It’s near impossible to walk into Donna Flora and leave with just one item – because there’s so much, it’s so good and there’s such variety. From hair, to jewelry, shoes to dresses, from retro to avant garde, basics to high fashion – you will find it there in plenty. So I am not going to challenge you to “eat just one” but to let us all know how many items get added to your wish list.
This Donna Flora dress is called Carla and comes with a beautiful prim spray of flowers and a ruffled prim skirt – all on one attachment point. This may require editing a few pieces separately, but it’s worth it for such a unique look.
B&W, Braids & the Hottest Shoes Evah!!!
I recently found a couple of darling black and white dresses, both heavily influenced by vintage styles, both from relatively under-blogged stores and oddly enough, I wore my hair in braids with both of them, though totally by accident. What was not an accident was my choice of shoes – the hottest shoes ever, ever, evah! But first, here’s a lovely black and white pop print from Lost Dreams with the useful and descriptive name Retro Dress.
This dress also has a pop print though the shape is a good decade older. It’s name is Delana Kisses, an unhelpful name unles you think those teardrop shapes remind you of Hershey’s Kisses or something. This is from ROC.
Truth in Advertising
So I wandered over to the Floydian Continent (well, they’re working on it) to Tenshi Vielle’s CRAP Boutique conveniently located next to Fresh Trash. Sorry, but late night shopping can be a giggle fest. Tenshi doesn’t have a huge inventory, but the work is creative, witty and hand-drawn so I thought I might show you a couple CRAP outfits, just because the name cracks me up. However, as far as truth in advertising goes, good thing there’s no law that says the name has to reflect the merchandise.
The Allure of Linen

I love natural fibers in my clothes. In RL I’m far too lazy to maintain them or iron them etc, but I love the look and feel of them to the exclusion of anything else. Faery Sola announced she had made some highwaisted pants about the same time I receive a group gift from the SUPER gracious Pink Outfitters group and well……..they both ended up on my ON the same day.
It’s a top. It’s pants. I got them the same day. It was MEANT to be. Continue reading
Sundays Are For Exploring & a Photo Tip
Sundays are probably when I spend the most time just playing on the grid, exploring sims and generally just having a lot of fun before heading over to the Velvet for Maht’s DJ session that I know will always be a fun and interesting set. This Sunday’s set featured singers and bands from Chicago – and it was a revelation how much great music comes from the Windy City considering he didn’t play any blues. I dressed in a hurry for the session, but love the look that came together. Afterwards, I headed out to Sasy Scarborough’s new digs:
On Little Cat Feet
The Fog
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on……Carl Sandburg
Perhaps it’s merely because the poncho comes from Mooncat Izumo that this outfit reminds me so much of my favorite Carl Sandburg poem. Of course, some of that impression also comes from the gradients of gray in the skirt that recall a foggy sky. However, when I put this on, I immediately thought of Chicago and the marvelous Carl Sandburg.
Casual Friday +Plus SPORK!

So what’s fun about plurk is that you get to talk to all sorts of people throughout SL that you might never meet otherwise. And you get a chance to talk to creators a lot and if you get REALLY lucky somethings they throw out a “Hey Who Wants to check this out” kinds plurk and you can go ME ME ME ME! and pick up something cool – often before it’s release.
But mostly what’s fun is just the random banter, and the chatter of a group of voices who are becoming friendsd. Who kid and tease and joke with one another.
Which is how I got this outfit. Continue reading
Beneath the tree that died
I shot these photos at AM Radio’s Beneath the Tree That Died art installation that had been at the University of KY sim but is now at Welsh Lakes up in the sky between his other builds. The rail fence is not part of the build. It’s Luth Brodie’s pose rail. I really wanted to shoot this outfit with a western feeling, bringing the Naive boho skirt back to its country roots. I must say I spent more time on getting the Style Notes together on this post than is healthy – and ended up having a mini shopping spree while doing so as the shirt and vest in the picture because a mystery requiring all my best detecting skills.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep
Stopping by the woods, I decided to rest a bit on the handy dandy Torridwear benchwarmer. I wasn’t dressed for much walking around in the woods, but a short stroll down the lane could be lovely. Actually, I am wearing the glitch pants from the Cachet Cleo dress – one of my favorite dresses of all time. Ever considerate of the average fashionista’s desire for versatile clothing, Cachet includes leg prims with the dress so the glitch pants can double as fancy, pleated dress pants.
