Stealing Tops

It was a sad, sad day when I realized I accidentally deleted by Pink/Peach tops folder. Yes, in a frenzy of inventory cleaning I deleted a folder instead of an item in it – and then emptied the trash. Now, I would have minded less if it had been my gestures folder since I never use them, but sadly, it was my tops folder with all my pink and peach blouses. Dang! Don’t clean inventory when held together by TheraFlu.  Thank goodness I can cannibalize dresses and use dress bodices for tops which is what I did here.

What's in a name?

What’s in a name? That which we call ciabatta by any other name would still smell as tasty and wholesome when hot out of the oven. Okay, I confess I am so confused by the name of this gown from Sascha’s Designs that she will be releasing in several colors this week? It’s called Ciabatta and the only ciabatta I know of is the wonderful Italian sourdough bread.  This dress makes me think of many thinks, lakes, moonlight, flowers and romance. It does not make me think of artisan breads.  Okay, maybe a toasty brown version of this dress could be called ciabatta.

Don’t get me wrong. I love ciabatta. It’s soft and delicious and flavorful and has a hard, crunchy crust.  Yummy! But the bread is rustic and this is elegant. The bread should have a hard crispy crust, this is soft and satiny.  Ciabatta is light and airy and full of holes….aha!!!! That must be it!!!

Grown-Up Gingham

We are so used to seeing gingham in table cloths and children’s clothes we forget how sophisticated it can look. The  designer of Anuenue has no such preconceptions though and boldly produced several pair of ginghams for grownups including this magnificent blue and brown gingham milled-cotton pair of pants.  Adding a baby blue camisole from Celestial Studios and a lovely cashmere jacket from Casa del Shai makes a casual, but fashionable outfit for shopping and girls’ night out.

Festivale

I was eager to see the new Festivale sim. Whether giggling over the names of the Long Awkward Poses or enjoying the witty conversations on plurk with Autumn Hykova and Dove Swanson – I figured their new sim would be made with wit as well as skill…and it is. I was thrilled to find this old pickup behind the LAP store and immediately knew I wanted to take a picture. Happily I was already dressed in something that suited the setting.

Living Ornamentally

Ah, the luxury that a Second Life provides us. Our avatars are always healthy and whole unless we choose to wear some skin with bruises, add a broken arm prim or sit in a wheelchair. We can even wear avatars with the chest open exposing our broken hearts. However, all these are optional and can be cast off with a quick right click of the mouse.  First life doesn’t give us that option.  If your heart is broken, it takes time and tears to heal. If it’s damaged, it can be replaced, but it takes much more than a mouse click. Now one of our own needs a new heart and everything is in place except the money.  It should instill all of us with a sense of urgency that only $2500 could save her life.   If 1000 people gave 650 lindens to one of the donation boxes in Second Life, a woman, someone whose work we see on the feeds, will get a Real Life Second Life. How cool is that?

Hearts & Flowers

Another day of cuteness with adorable embroidery from Meu! and Stitch by Stitch.  The top is from Meu! on Osaka sim. It’s the store called Meu! & Ska, a joint store with fun, playful shirts. I could not resist the lovely embroidery in this top. I decided to wear the Stitch by Stitch embroider shrug because I am not afraid of too much of a good thing. Adding a simple pencil skirt kept me from going over the top.

Too Much Goodness

There’s so much I like in this outfit that I hardly know where to begin, but how about with something I rarely talk about, the eyes. Today I am wearing Poetic Color eyes. I seldom change eyes and 90% of the posts I have done have shown me with IC-Eyes Soulful Hazel, but recently I came across these lovely Poetic Color eyes that seem so alive with their wonderful reflections of things seen. Now, if only they came in hazel.  But then there is also the hair and we can’t forget the skirt – a freebie that is just wonderfully made. Yes, lots of goodness this time.

There's no such thing as too many sweaters

Okay, sometimes when I am trying to shove the sweater drawer closed and cursing under my breath as I lean again the dresser, I guess I think there is such a thing as one sweater too many, but other than that – no, it’s impossible to have too may.  Sweaters are transformative. This sweater, from Sysy Chapman, changed my jeans and t-shirt from a simple jeans and tee combo into an Outfit. Now instead of looking like I grabbed the first things that showed in my inventory, it looks like I planned and thought about what I wore. That’s what sweaters do, they keep you warm and make you look planned and put together.

I Feel Pretty

I feel pretty!
Oh, so pretty!
Pretty and witty and bright!

Now who would not feel pretty in this marvelous jeweled brocade gown from Mimikri. This gown takes opulence to the royal vault and comes out wearing the crown jewels.  To add to its lustre, it comes with multiple options for wearing, including the fabulous sheath shown in this picture. The pastel gloves from Fleur look great too.
