Timeless

Many people think of vintage clothing as costume clothing – but a smart fashionista buys vintage that is classic in form and fabric so that it’s timeless and always chic. As Chanel once said, “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” Illustrating that idea, I borrowed the top from a 1950’s Ivalde and combined it with a very 80’s pair of pants from &Bean for a completely contemporary look.

Princess Odette:Freed by the Ivalde Challenge

posted by Gidge Uriza

The beautiful Princess Odette, immortalized by the ballet SWAN LAKE, has been freed from her cursed life as a swan by the beautiful Sevina Gown by Ivalde.

Surrounded by Ethereal Ghosts of the Swans who served as her family and captors…….Odette spins and dances her joy upon being set free.

At least, that was my first thought upon seeing this new release from Ivalde and getting an invitation to request a review item from Beulah!  Continue reading

Fashionable Relay Challenge

posted by Gidge Uriza

The Pink Plainers by Shiny Things that Tesa used were the building blocks of my fashionable relay challenge entry. I cannot resist the opportunity to hose myself down in girly pepto-bismol pink.

I thought it only fitting that a trip to PINK OUTFITTERS ended in a super girly pink look, to top off these excellent shoes. Continue reading

And now for something completely different

Feeling a bit fey last night, I decided to take the Cambridge Cuffed shirt from Armidi and see if I could give it a “quaintly unconventional” look. After all, what could be more conventional than a plain button-down shirt? A fun challenge, then, to give it an unconventional twist. Browsing my inventory, I tried a few skirts, but the instant I put on Nell from LBD, the search was over.

Dress Me Up Challenge: Gidge as a Neko

posted by Gidge Uriza

Dear God. Know why I don’t do Neko? (Besides the tails creep me out and make me think of THIS) It’s the accessories! I just can’t buy super cute ears PLUS rockin Hair or a tail AND shoes. WOW. Nekos  spend a lot of money on stuff. YOWZAH.

At least – to look cute they do.

Maybe if a Neko and a spoiled fashionista had a baby – THIS is what she would look like!

I opted for the Uncle Wiggly necklace which was “collarish” vs. a real collar. And bushier eyebrows than I normally wear.

AH not my best effort, but clearly, I’m not a member of the Paws Clan.

I feel certain that Clara Bow will be more within my range!

Dress Me Up Challenge – Gidge by Luna Jubilee

posted by Gidge Uriza

Dressing like a grunge girl now poses the same problems for me that it did when I was a girl deeply enmeshed in the self-same music and culture. How to be a girly girl, in a scene that does not embrace the pink and frilly?

The answer of course, is carefully, very carefully. Continue reading

Dress Me Up Challenge – Gidge in Harajuku by Candy Lemmon

posted by Gidge Uriza

I look at a lot of Harajuku in RL, the style fascinates me. So when I was challeged to do a Harajuku piece by Candy Lemmon, I immediately knew I wanted a big fluffy coat thing – I’ve been seeing them in mags slapped over the mismatched plaids and heavy handed cloth worn by the youth culture that defines Harajuku.

A big old silly fur coat. If I could find one in fun colors that’d be even better, but when I ran into this WHITE one, which was exactly what I wanted, a floofy white fur coat from Ookami Ningen I KNEW KNEW KNEW what I wanted to do.

I wanted to go Ice Skating. Continue reading

Dress Me Up – Gidge by Phire Zuhra

Took Me Long Enough to get Elfy – didn’t it? I’m having system issues, give me love.

So, Elfy.

Hmmm. I know some elves. And pixies of various sorts. Now, this condition is possibly only symptomatic of the elvies and pixes I know – but they are all consistently badly dressed. I’m not kidding. I wonder sometimes, if they don’t rock the BIAB clothes out of the role play sims and keep some fantastic costumes that I never get to see while fully into their Elf role play. Continue reading

Dress Me Up Challenge: Cajsa by Luna

I think you should picture me shaking my fist and hollering, “I’ll get you, my pretty!” after completing this last, but certainly not the least, Dress Me Up Challenge. It was a tough one. I only hope I succeeded with the brief from Luna Jubilee.

I think you should bring Disco back! That’s right – Disco … but Disco Skating baby!! Legwarmers, skates, that onepiece leotard that looks like a bathing suit and big poofy pigtails.  Good Luck!!  *giggles*

I have one big request. Bax Coen, make me some roller skates!!!

Analu's Armoire Diversity Take Two

I have been thinking about getting a nice men’s suit for some time, so Analu’s Armoire Diversity Challenge helped me take the plunge. I love the look – it makes me think of Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo and Lauren Bacall – the many glorious actresses who showed how great women can look. They may have dressed like men, but it only accentuated their femininity.
