What Coco Said

Rosaly and Elegance Hats

By Cajsa Lilliehook

Coco Chanel once said, “it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.” Well, I probably don’t have a date with destiny today, but I like the idea of always looking your best because any day could change your destiny and why not look the part.

Okay, I confess the hat is a bit much. I wouldn’t wear it in real life because it would knock people in the head on the bus…but I would like to. I might not even mind banging people in the head with it. But isn’t it pretty? Isn’t it timeless? It could have been worn by Emma or Eliza Doolittle. It’s one of those sweeping romantic picture hats that serve to highlight the fragility of the female neck and the romance of female eyes. It’s not about the weather, it’s about the wearer.

Purple Reign

by Gidge Uriza

I am rarely given to monochromatic power-color dressing, but when I picked up the fun ponytail at Mau and Mej’s I rummaged around to find something cha-cha to wear with it.  This fun ensemble doubles as lingerie if you lose the skirt and I love a multi-tasker (I’m a bit like Alton Brown in that fashion).

Now if only I could find a Can Can animation.  I wore it out to an event where my friend was Djing and twirled the night away as it was – glad of the glitch pants as this skirt has BOUNCE.  Continue reading

Shiny Shiny Tint Tint

Shiny Shiny Magic Pants

by Cajsa Lilliehook

In the mood to explore, i knew I wanted some comfortable pants – sexy comfortable pants, of course. This outfit started around the oh-so-hot Shiny Shiny Magic Pants from Fashionably Dead. Their stretchy shiny lycra is made for sexy comfort. These are pants you can tint in Edit Appearance mode to any shade you desire.  If you go to pick up a pair, use patience scrolling through the vendors. It’s in there.

I paired it with a top from the Zurie pants outfit from Seasons, an outfit i purchased because I loved the top, intending from the beginning to wear the top with other pants. I love the retro sensibility of the top and its bold colors. However, I would rather not wear a belly-baring top while exploring so i added the white sash from the Persona fat back of sashes on the jacket layer and then tinted it in Appearance mode as well. I highly recommend picking up the fat pack – an inexpensive wardrobe enhancer that you will never regret.

This gave the me idea of exploring the tremendous versatility of color-changing purchases in putting this outfit together.  I am a fan of color-changing and do it all the time because most of the red hairstyles in SL just don’t give me that deep red auburn that I want, so i have tinted about 75% of my hairstyles to get the color I want. I also use CW’s manicure that you can tint in Appearance mode for maximum flexibility.

To stay with the color-changing them, i opted to use CKS’s Bamboomerangs Earrings which can be changed to more than a dozen different options and Fresh-Baked Goods Donut bangles whose base color can be changed with a simple touch. I was tempted to wear color-changing shoes, but really, these Periquita’s suited the outfit too well to wear anything else.

Additional photos of the outfit are on my flickr. Close up photo and style notes after the break. Continue reading

In A Lucky Chair

While Shopping Digit Darkes

Letter G Rang Out

– Gidge Uriza

I won this dress back in the day when Digit Darkes store was known as X3D and she HAD a lucky chair. I was a really new player, following around my linden rich friends when suddenly the lucky chair called out “G”. My friends said “GO!” and so I did, not knowing what I was doing.
By luck alone, I had just won a dress I had been admiring on the wall. I couldn’t believe my luck.

But also being a new player, I didn’t know how to adjust the skirt properly, and my big SL butt was constantly sticking through the belt. So I relegated it to my inventory, sad that I had this lovely dress I couldn’t figure out how to wear. Continue reading

Chrome: Not Just for Cars Anymore

Chrome Dress

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

Sometimes I pick an outfit to suit my mood or what I plan on doing, but the most fun is putting on an outfit because it’s NEW NEW NEW and this is my newest dress, the recently release Chrome in Purple from Tres Jolie. A rich purple chrome finish catches the eye and continuing the metallic them, designer Iota Ultsch made the skirt move like metal, swinging instead of flowing. It’s a sassy movement and a sassy dress.

Sadly, Second Life simply does not provide enough stationary connections to hang your clothes on. With the turtleneck collar on the spine and the skirt on the chest, there was no place for me to hang my necklace. No worries, though, the collar is a perfect circle and won’t go too far astray if you attach it to something with limited movement. I attached it to my nose so I could wear my necklace and was more than satisfied with the results. And isn’t this necklace and earrings from Kraftika a perfect complement?

You can see the other photos in the set on my flickr and judge for yourself.

Dita Corset Set from Chic Boutique

Dita Corset Set from Chic Boutique

posted by Gidge Uriza

I was invited to a Black and Red themed event last year and had an excellent black tulle skirt I wanted to wear. But WHAT to wear with it? It was fortune when I stumbled into Chic Boutique and ran straight into the DITA Corset Set.  Detailed with prim attachment ruffles and rich satin finish, you almost see light shine off of the corset.  When I chose something red to wear for a special holiday photo for my husband, this was an easy choice. Paired with Aleri Darkes DEBUTANTE Hair this was a very festive photo for my sweetheart.   Lingerie I find is too often just small clothes, no attention to romance and detail.  At Chic Boutique they seem to have found a way to truly draw the most delicate nuances from so many of their pieces. DITA is a great example.

Starry Night Romance

Lady Thera's Starry Night

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

My partner and I had a date last night and since he has been away for a week, i wanted a special dress and know he always likes my dresses from Art & Fashion. I knew he would love this one because he was going to get if for me for my birthday, but i had already purchased it.

If you don’t know Lady Thera Taurog’s work, you are in for a treat. Taking inspiration from great artist like Van Gogh, as in this dress, but also Monet, Cezanne, Magritte and Kandisky to name just a few, Lady Thera creates incredible fabrics by reimagining some of their great works. A lesser artist might clone stamp selections of the original art, but if you look at this dress or any of her others, you can see that she recreates the work – in new and beautiful homages to the original.

Now I have never asked her, but I assume Lady Thera likes to dance because she designs ideal dresses for dancing. The flexi-prims are soft and flowing, generously distributed and spaced artfully to give discreet flashes of thigh while you dance. Her dresses are designed with such craft that they retain their flow and soft romantic feeling while you dance.

The dress comes with an alternate top for more casual wear and with gloved sleeves as well. I combined it with dark blue shoes from Aphrodite Creations to match the dark blue in the bodice and a pair of long dangling earrings from Untone.

You can see more photos of the dress at my Flickr. Closer snap of the bodice and earrings as well as style notes after the jump.

DP YUM YUM Brings Fun For Spring

By Gidge Uriza
I ran, not walked when I saw the SL Freestyle post about this super cute skirt. It was on a night when I didn’t have much else to do, so I was running the gauntlet of fashion freebies – and this little gem was right at the top of my list. Right around the corner in the store was a collect of muted tone sweaters sold in two packs. I picked up the “reds” collection hoping that one of them would be a good compliment to this skirt – which it is.

One of my favorite things about SL are the conversations you would never have anywhere else. So when my best friend said “Come over and pick out some sculptures for your housewarming gift” I slipped into this ensemble. I think it says, “I’m casually hanging out with a friend while picking out modern art sculptures.”

Or something like that. It’s what I INTENDED to say anyway.

Indira Bekkers Leaf Green Silk

Indira Bekkers Leaf Satin Dress

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

Oh yes, it’s one of the sunny spring days that are all too rare in the rainy Northwest. The sun is shining, the windows are open and all is well with the world. Clearly, my clothes have to reflect that general sense of well-being that comes from a day like today. So what could be a better choice that a fresh leaf green, the color of the new leaves opening on the birches.

Indira Bekkers Leaf Satin dress is the perfect color – the exact shade of a new leaf uncurling in the spring. So that’s what I threw on this morning. The lovely Jade Hydrangea earrings and necklace from Petal Meg complete the palette of spring greens. I hope it’s color brightens your day, too.

Polka Dotty

Polka Dots

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

Polka dots are such fresh and lively prints. Just putting on one polka dot item will wake you up almost as much as a cappuccino, but imagine the effect of layering polka dots on polka dots with your accessories. In this outfit, I even feel ready to tackle my laundry.

This starts with one of the several freebie tops in Baiatrice’s April Free Gift (still there if you hurry.) However, I am not fond of kneepants – especially golfing style knee pants, so i add the lovely Developer pants from Digit Darkes. Honestly, these pants are so richly textured, that you might find yourself stroking your monitor. To top it off, I added on of the indispensable Helena sashes from Persona – a massive fat pack of jacket layer sashes that you can wear with hundreds of outfits.
