Fresh-Baked Geisha

My favorite stores for clothes shopping are those small, idiosyncratic boutiques that offer maybe 20 items instead of 200, whose clothing is not designed to mix and match, but follows the creative whims of the designer. That’s where you find some of the more fun and unique clothing and accessories – such as most of the items in this outfit. The dress come from Stitch by Stitch on the new moosh sim. It’s a delightful store created with love and if you care to take up sewing your own, they have an adorable sewing machine, too. Like many of the really fun boutiques, they offer around 20 items, not 200, but each one is unique. Fresh Baked Goods, where the mah jongg bracelets came from is equally delightful – a pastel confection and though it offers only a few items, they are wonderful. These fabulous bracelets have a touch script to change colors. Full disclosure: my bracelets were a gift from the owner – a thank you for my mention of her other fabulous bracelets in another post. Twinkleberry – the source for the necklace and earrings – falls into that small boutique group as well – and like them, has unique designs.

That’s not to say I don’t have a big space in my heart for the high-end department stores and other major designers. When I need to fill a hole in my closet – when i know what I am looking for, that’s where I go. But for whimsy, there’s nothing like a small boutique

Belted In

by Cajsa Lilliehook

I have been itching to post about these luscious pants from LeeZu Baxter for awhile now. I like babydoll dresses and think they are cute, but nothing seems more feminine to me that clothing that accentuates the waist. I am sure my love of vintage styles is as much for the way they define and flatter the figure as for the rich and luscious fabrics of the past. Most pants are designed to emphasize bootie, but these pants give the waist some love.

With all the different colored belts, I could choose any blouse, but went for the faded rose color – a color that flatters nearly every complexion. The blouse is sheer and sexy and I might wear it alone for some occasions, but for wandering and exploring the grid – out and about among strangers, I took the safe route and wore a lacy bra underneath. My partner Maht had one comment, “Digital prude!!!”  I should have told him that I was wearing PornStar Hi-Tops. : )

Epic Beauty

Some store freebies are just astonishing – and the ones from  Kouse’s Sanctum are at the top of that list. This dress, Calliope, named after the oldest and wisest of the muses, blends perfect feminine shaping in the bodice and skirt with the assertiveness of the mythical Calliope in the bold cerise fabric. This is a group gift for Kouse’s sanctum – so beautiful and elegant that it displaced my planned outfit for the day, jumping into line ahead of her turn, just like Calliope would.

This Calliope is versatile as well, the skirt comes in three versions from this slim skirt in the photo to a grand ballroom circle skirt. The sleeves have two lengths in the flowing draperies. The shorter chiffon draping is pictured, but the set includes fuller longer chiffon draping. With such an elegant dress, the simple but lovely Darling hair from Laqroki, though as usual, I have tinted it myself to get it closer to the shade I want.

Nicky Ree Brings It For Mothers Day

As I sit lunching on watercress sandwiches with the ladies at the club, I’m endlessly thankful for this lovely summer dress made available for $L1 from Nicky Ree for Mothers Day. Conservatively “in fashion” without being outspoken, it’s the sort of dress one could wear quite appropriately at many social occasions. She includes several skirt options – from this flowery wisp of a skirt to a lovely fitted satin option to take it into evening-wear.

Glitter Baby Pink Puff

Glitter Baby Pink Puff

By Cajsa Lilliehook

I was in a shopping mood and knew I would be trekking hither and yon and I surely did, visiting shopping centers from Portland to Milan to Mumbai to Tokyo and ports in between. A girl’s gotta be comfortable when hopping around like that, especially walking from one end of a sim the other to make sure not to miss the little boutiques with great craft, originality and no land description. Paper Couture’s silk wrapped low heels are perfect shoes for long walks, the heels comfortably low, but still fashionably chic.

And then….I could not resist putting on some of my purchases as I went along. First up, I found this lovely purple blouse @ Emery. It comes with black slacks, but then I went to Callie Cline’s store and noticed for the first time that there is an upstairs…and found these pants so aptly named Glitter Baby Pink Puff. They come in several colors, but it looks as though the basic pants are the same and the color differences are in the top and one pants alternate…and that this particular pant i am wearing comes with any color option.

The find of the day however was this perfectly messy hair from creamshop. Why is it perfect? Well, in RL I fell asleep on wet, uncombed hair (bad, bad, bad) and this is my RL hairstyle today. What synchronicity! I could not resist wearing it.

ooh baby, it's a plaid world

It's a plaid world

Inventory cleaning time!!! It’s a dirty job but we all have to do it. And it’s best we dress for the work at hand, something rugged that can stand up the heavy lifting and flying dustballs of inventory cleaning. Okay, okay, none of that is true, I just wanted to wear my Cordovan Boots. I love their clean but rugged good looks. From Five Minutes After – they are a steal @ 230 Lindens. Much less than your average boot – while as detailed and better fitting than most.

Nothing goes better with great cordovan leather than a nice plaid shirt. Thimbles has some of the best, with prim colors, bright collars and tiny tiny price tags. You can take a peek at more leather lusciousness on my flickr. Additional photo and style notes after the jump.

What Coco Said

Rosaly and Elegance Hats

By Cajsa Lilliehook

Coco Chanel once said, “it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.” Well, I probably don’t have a date with destiny today, but I like the idea of always looking your best because any day could change your destiny and why not look the part.

Okay, I confess the hat is a bit much. I wouldn’t wear it in real life because it would knock people in the head on the bus…but I would like to. I might not even mind banging people in the head with it. But isn’t it pretty? Isn’t it timeless? It could have been worn by Emma or Eliza Doolittle. It’s one of those sweeping romantic picture hats that serve to highlight the fragility of the female neck and the romance of female eyes. It’s not about the weather, it’s about the wearer.

Chrome: Not Just for Cars Anymore

Chrome Dress

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

Sometimes I pick an outfit to suit my mood or what I plan on doing, but the most fun is putting on an outfit because it’s NEW NEW NEW and this is my newest dress, the recently release Chrome in Purple from Tres Jolie. A rich purple chrome finish catches the eye and continuing the metallic them, designer Iota Ultsch made the skirt move like metal, swinging instead of flowing. It’s a sassy movement and a sassy dress.

Sadly, Second Life simply does not provide enough stationary connections to hang your clothes on. With the turtleneck collar on the spine and the skirt on the chest, there was no place for me to hang my necklace. No worries, though, the collar is a perfect circle and won’t go too far astray if you attach it to something with limited movement. I attached it to my nose so I could wear my necklace and was more than satisfied with the results. And isn’t this necklace and earrings from Kraftika a perfect complement?

You can see the other photos in the set on my flickr and judge for yourself.
