This gorgeous mohair skirt comes in green, grey and blue.

I love this mohair skirt from The Closet. In fact, I have it in three colors and if she made more colors, I would probably have it in those colors as well. And putting it together with some warm cozy tights and well, you have my favorite sort of run-around outfit. And it must be, I think I ran around in it for three days. But there was a problem – and not to single out The Closet – it is widespread problem that affects clothes from many stores and designers. It’s one that would be very simple to fix, though. The thing is – no mod prim clothing is just plain bad business practice.

Prelude to More Options

As I have mentioned, this new collection from Prelude is dominated by outfits that are clothing suites with multiple blouses, skirts and pants for mixing and matching. Still, sometimes you want to add something of your own – as I did with the glam Micha Mi tank here.  I love the little boleros in the Sorbonne suite, but preferred a simple tank to the fancy bras that are designed to go with it.

You might think that I like every skin given to me, that like a crack-fiend – I can find no flaw with my drug of choice.

And that is where you would be wrong. You see – I try on a LOT of skins, I receive many as review items and others I go hunting down based on blogs and plurks about what people have released.

Much of the time I slip into the new pixel shell and say OH HELL WHAT IS THIS?

You never see those skins. Because I want to look pretty, and I want YOU to look pretty, therefore it only behooves me to bring you that which pleases me and I hope will please you.

So it’s St Patricks day and you’re about to barf from the amount of shamrocks,green tinsel and erin go bragh on the feeds today, aren’t you?

I love that I can roll over to Frick whenever I’m in the mood for something nutty or different, and pick up one of her fantasy skins – and do so for very few lindens. I had to have this retro pinup skin as it’s called Brigitte – and Gidge’s RL name is the same.

I’m slowly on a quest to acquire things with my name to make an “ALL ABOUT ME” outift. ”

Saving Daylight

There’s an easier way to save some daylight than having the whole word jump forward. We could just all wear yellow and bring some sunny cheer to the day. And we would not have to lose an hours sleep to do it. You know I really love these tartan tights from !*G^G*! because I hate that store name and would prefer to never type it out again.  Nonetheless, when I put this outfit together I knew I needed to use those tights just for the whimsy of it all. My father played banjo and sang in a country/bluegrass band and I have lost count of all my cousins and other relatives who are in the music industry – so I come by a head packed with musical references quite honestly even if I inherited my singing voice from the “sings like a sick cat” side of the family. Everytime I see a newsboy cap like this one from Haute Style Company, that old Jimmy Brown the Newsboy song pops into my head… and it just won’t go away.  No matter that the real Jimmy Brown sang “I got no hat upon my head, no shoes upon my feet.”

Color My World

I know I told you how much I love Iki Ikarus’ use of color the other day before promptly showing you an outfit she made that was all in brown. Well, here’s a truly colorful outfit from her – though just as atypical of her usual color usage as the brown outfit the other day. These are bright colors and she usually uses desaturated colors – but despite that difference, the same understanding that color and pattern need to be freed from old habits come in to play. She understands that sometimes you just want colors to come bursting out all over – rich, saturated, vibrant rainbows of color.
