Merry Christmas Vogel!

snowglobe

I think I have the best ex-boyfriends a girl could possibly want. One of my favorites is Vogel, or more officially Schrottvogel Wei. I met him long ago when I was looking for a custom-made surfboard and we have been friends ever since. Since you readers have been shy about volunteering as guest stylist, I invited him to show off his style. I know he has style since I have worn his bikinis a few times on this blog. Now, don’t forget, if you want to do a guest stylist shoot, IM Gidge or me.

He suggested artilleri for the shoot as a place that would fit his somewhat Rockabilly style. It was pure kismet that there happened to be a car in front that had the same flames as his shirt. That was just too perfect to pass by. Of course, the shirt is made by artilleri’s Antonia Marat, but there aren’t cars parked in fornt with the same print as all her other shirts. Besides, those Chucks have flames, too, and they are from Akeyo.

Hearts & Moonshine

This newest design from Moonshine Clothing is called Gem – and how apt that name is for this is a gem of a dress.  The bodice comes on all layers and can easily be worn with pants and other skirts. The question is who would want to wear it with any other skirt than this luscious little gem. Normally I run from fabric covered in hearts – thinking they all look a bit twee. Not this. Partly because the colors are not the ubiquitous pink, red and white  but the fresher green, blue and brown. It’s not just that though, it’s also the fine details such as the lacing on the skirt and the perfect little metal holes for the laces. You would have to look long and hard to find something so fresh, new and exciting – and with hearts on it no less.

Color My World

I know I told you how much I love Iki Ikarus’ use of color the other day before promptly showing you an outfit she made that was all in brown. Well, here’s a truly colorful outfit from her – though just as atypical of her usual color usage as the brown outfit the other day. These are bright colors and she usually uses desaturated colors – but despite that difference, the same understanding that color and pattern need to be freed from old habits come in to play. She understands that sometimes you just want colors to come bursting out all over – rich, saturated, vibrant rainbows of color.

Tuli Scrumptious

Tuli group gifts are always truly scruptious and this one was particularly so. The Shy makeup of the new Elizabeth skin in all skin tones, I fell in love with the soft blush of the cheeks and the dusting of freckle. I would have dressed in something frilly and femme, but a dear friend had returned to SL after several months hiatus, so we went exploring – and that requires sensible clothing. Sensible, but fun clothing. Continue reading

Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon

Fridays I go painting in the Louvre.
I’m bound to be proposing on a Saturday night
There he goes again.
I’ll be lazing on a Sunday lazing on a Sunday
Lazing on a Sunday afternoon………………Freddie Mercury

When I got dressed this morning, that song popped into my head. After battling ghost prims last night, I felt I deserved a good lazy day. For you non-lazers out there, lazing is not something you can just do on a whim. It’s an art form and requires mental discipline and proper clothing and equipment. First, you must discipline your mind to ignore unsorted mail, clothes wrinkling in the dryer, cat hair on the carpet and other distractions from a good laze. For equipment, you need some snacks and out of the can food so you can get in and out of the kitchen in two minutes or less – lest you slip and put away some dry dishes or wipe down the counter. Most importantly, you need the right clothes. Comfy, non-binding clothing that let’s you loll around on the couch, the floor, the grass, whither you wander. More importantly, the clothing cannot be too bright and cheery – bright and cheery colors pep you up and pep and lazing are incompatible. Not everyone can do it, but if you approach it with discipline, the proper uniform and a good mental attitude, you too could be lazing on a Sunday afternoon. Continue reading
