Here is another example of the Designer Showcase Network at work – reminding me of a store I already know and showing me something new. It’s been a few months since I have visited Elate and this item from the Designer Showcase Network reminded me that I like Elate’s design sensibility and inventiveness. Most of what I have seen from there has been brighter than this subtle and reflective skirt and blouse – and seeing this new mood in Elate’s designs is exciting. This morning’s example was the DSN introducing me to a completely new designer, this afternoon nudging my memory and showing a different side of a known store. I look forward to the growth and expansion of the DSN and don’t forget to check out the web site because it explains the effort made to make sure designers all reach the same number of people and that participants receive new items, from different stores. Flexible Fashions
I am a bad, bad, bad blogger. I cannot remember how this dress found its way into my inventory yesterday, but it did. I suppose it was from one of the fashion blogging groups I have joined recently. (Update: It was Fashion Trends group gift.) However, not knowing how I got it is not going to stop me from showing it off because it’s a stunner and gives you two options for the bodice and three for the skirt – and you can do the math on those permutations.
Hee Haw or I wasn't kidding about the boots.
Normally I would wait and post this in the morning, but since I have shown you Miffy in these old lace up boots in black, I thought you would enjoy the funny coincidence that we were both wearing the same boots, but in completely different styles. After a trip to magi take, I could not resist showing off my finds – especially since it reminds me of cleaning out the cow barn at my uncle’s dairy farm. This may be TMI, but I assure you it’s much more pleasant shoveling straw and manure than washing down the milk off the floor in the milking shed.
I Too, Love Evie's Closet
posted by Gidge Uriza
So I’ve been drooling all week watching Cajsa break out the Evie’s closet love. One of the great things about blogging with a partner is that although we do like alot of the same stores – we often shop at places the other places has never heard of/never goes to. So you get great exposure to other shops that you might have taken months to find.
Such as Evie’s. I’m notorious for hearing of a place and then never making it over. I know……all you creators love my attention span, right?
This heavy velvet medieval gown is probably better suited for Christmas time and madrigals but I just can’t care. I am completely enamored of it, and was the second it rezzed in her store. This gorgeous gown set me back exactly L$500…….which is NUTS considering it’d be L$1500 at other shops for such incredible quality and gorgeous, rich design. Continue reading
I Want to be a Hero! Part V of I ♥ EC Week.
Do you want to feel like a heroine in an historical romance? What are your options? You could go to acting school and get cast is a B-movie. You could track down Fabio and pose for a book cover for the newest bodice-ripper. Or you could click on the folder from Evie’s Closet with the Chimera gown in it. Much cheaper than acting lessons or plane tickets to Italy or wherever. Now, if there was ever a bodice made for ripping, look at the sweet sweet romance of the bodice on the Chimera dress. Riiiiiiiiiip.
Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall
When I looked in my clothing folder this morning I saw a lonely little jacket not in a folder, but sitting there all alone and loose. I recognized the name and realized it was one that I bought Humby Designs on my shopping spree. I just came without a folder and so I decided to make an outfit around it – the one you see above. It’s a great outfit. Still, gray plaid jacket and an autumn look is pretty predictable, isn’t it? So…for fun…I decided to take that simple jacket and style one outfit for each season. If you like wearing traditional clothing, you may look into these Lederhose Damen fashion items.
All photos are shot at MDR’s Photo Park which is open to the public. Click on through if you want to see more details on the outfits. And – if any bloggers out there want to take a shot at making an All-Seasons Item post, I would love to see it.
EarthStones Hunt
I have found 13 out of 15 of the items at the EarthStones easter egg hunt, but have been defeated by two. I already IM’ed Abraxxa and shook my fist and hollered “damn you for hiding them so well.” Of course, she knew I was kidding and laughed. She assured me that one of the two I have not found was in plain sight, but you know, that’s always the way it is. I probably stood on it.
Now this hunt is a little different as not all items are free, some cost 10 or 50L, but that’s still a huge bargain. Among my finds were the lovely casuals sandals I am wearing. Of course, hunts get you looking around and finding things you cannot resist and one of those was in one of the rental shops outside her store – where I found this skirt that I matched up with the bodice from one of Kunglers Couture gowns. There’s a half dozen different colors and I was tempted to get all of them. The skirts are beautifully made and have a marvelous lacy cutwork texture.
Made For Each Other
I suppose technically these two pieces, the LeeZu sweater and the Mimikri pants, cannot possibly be made for each other, but even if they had been, they could not possibly make a better pairing. White the cream on cream prints are not identical, they are as compatible as they can possibly be. I think cream and beige and winter whites are some of the most sophisticated colors and when well blended, they create such an urbane and chic look that the more usual black cannot achieve.
Lanikai
Sorry for blogging so late and with just an abbreviated post at that. I had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day today and have not accomplished much of anything at all today. Anyway, that’s the why for this late and short post. The dress is from L’Abel and is scrumptious.
…And It Was All Yellow……
posted by Gidge Uriza
Once upon a time, when we were just two instead of five, my fiancee and I stood on a Florida beach at night, down at the edge of our campsite and danced under the moon and stars to Cold Play’s YELLOW.
The sound of the water, and the wind through the palms swirled around Chris Martin’s mysterious vocals as well held each other tight and marveled at being in such a place an in love. Continue reading
