I went to Codebastard Redgrave’s surprise party last night for her second Rez Day and had a great time. The DJ, Madama Maracas, was new to me and I thought she was fabulous. She did an amazing job of incorporating a wide variety of music and finding some outstanding songs to suit the occasion – frequently inserting a song that slyly commented on or reflected the somewhat ribald and risque chat in the room. I had a great time…and part of that great time was enhanced by planning ahead and choosing a party perfect dress like this one from Baiastice. You see, I knew that anyone as well-loved as Codie would not have only 15 to 20 people at her party, that there would be a crowd that would stretch our computers to the max…so I wanted to dress for a party while keeping my ARC down.

It's a Mod, Mod, Mod, Mod World
Today’s outfit would never have come together if not for the good sense and grace of designers who allow their customers to mod their clothes. I really wanted to put these pieces together but the colors weren’t quite right…but thanks to flexible and smart designers from Thimbles and Maitreya, I am happily wearing exactly what I wanted to wear. It all started with this fun and adorable coat from BomBon. Yes, BomBon, not BonBon.
Tres Jolie! Foiled Again.
After splurging a bit over the weekend, I promised myself I would not buy another gown for at least two weeks…no matter what. And I was doing okay until I signed on tonight and received a texture from Iota Ultsch of Tres Jolie! with her new design. Darn you, Iota, there went my resolve right out the window. I tp’ed over and already she has three color variations and I struggled to settle on just one. I love the depth and detail of the devore fabric in rich blue and green velvet.
This is not a mellow yellow
No, this is more Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Lektra, one of the new releases at Modern Gypsy, is a bright bold brilliant lemony dress with a fabulously made short jacket that goes with it. Also included in the set are the amber earrings and belt. There are several color options available, but when I saw this screaming yellow, I jumped.
Too Much Goodness
There’s so much I like in this outfit that I hardly know where to begin, but how about with something I rarely talk about, the eyes. Today I am wearing Poetic Color eyes. I seldom change eyes and 90% of the posts I have done have shown me with IC-Eyes Soulful Hazel, but recently I came across these lovely Poetic Color eyes that seem so alive with their wonderful reflections of things seen. Now, if only they came in hazel. But then there is also the hair and we can’t forget the skirt – a freebie that is just wonderfully made. Yes, lots of goodness this time.
There's no such thing as too many sweaters
Okay, sometimes when I am trying to shove the sweater drawer closed and cursing under my breath as I lean again the dresser, I guess I think there is such a thing as one sweater too many, but other than that – no, it’s impossible to have too may. Sweaters are transformative. This sweater, from Sysy Chapman, changed my jeans and t-shirt from a simple jeans and tee combo into an Outfit. Now instead of looking like I grabbed the first things that showed in my inventory, it looks like I planned and thought about what I wore. That’s what sweaters do, they keep you warm and make you look planned and put together.
I Feel Pretty
I feel pretty!
Oh, so pretty!
Pretty and witty and bright!
Now who would not feel pretty in this marvelous jeweled brocade gown from Mimikri. This gown takes opulence to the royal vault and comes out wearing the crown jewels. To add to its lustre, it comes with multiple options for wearing, including the fabulous sheath shown in this picture. The pastel gloves from Fleur look great too.
Don't Fence Me In
I would rewrite that old, old song to say “Give me layers, lots of layers, and the ability to mod, don’t fence me in.” Take for example, this gorgeous cardigan. The wonderful Fair Isle knit and the lovely button details make me love it, but it’s a grumpy sort of love because it’s no mod. However, I did work around that and managed to make it fit me after all, but only after getting frustrated enough to close up Second Life and go chop up soup fixings into teeny tiny pieces.
Creating This New Year to Come
Elros Tuominen, the Second Life artist, is always incredibly generous with his art. For the new year, he sent this marvelous work called Creating This New Year to Come to his group. Like many of his works, you can sit inside it and meditate in a moving swirl of color and beauty. However, this really needs to be appreciated from outside as well.
My art-admiring outfit is from SkinFlicks, the Sally knit dress in pink.
Adele Dazzles
Regular readers know I there are a few designers that simply flip my switches. What they do just appeals to me on a different level than most fashion. Most designs that I like, I can admire and evaluate relatively objectively. If it’s reasonably priced, I will buy it. If not, I won’t. Then there are those whose designs disconnect my brain from my wallet and blow my budget. They do something unique and new. Their clothing doesn’t remind me of anyone else. It’s wholly their own. LadyThera Taurog of Lady Thera’s Art & Fashion is one such designer and if ever there were a case of brain disconnection, it is this dress.
