Angel of the Morning

If you want more, much more, than a simple Halloween costume, let me suggest JoJorunoo Runo’s Angel Armor. For a mere five lindens, not only do you get a costume with lovely particle wings that give the outfit a kinetic energy not found elsewhere, but you also get life’s ultimate moral quandary sorted into a folder. You see, the outfit comes in black and white – will you be an angel of the light or an angel of darkness, angel of the morning or angel of the night? It’s your choice.

Flawlessly Comme il Faut

When I saw that Comme il Faut was producing a design for Passions of the Black Swan, I was eager to see the result. Moire Georgette’s designs have the timeless glamour of Greta Garbo and I was hoping to see something Garbo would wear and was not disappointed with her offerings, l’oiseau rebel (red) and l’oiseau triste (blue/purple) Continue reading

Black Swan Events

Second Life has Black Swan events, but so does real life. Sadly, there’s no dancing, but there can be excitement. If you like history and philosophy, it’s an interesting idea. The name comes from the age-old assumption that all swans are white. All it took was one black bird (and allegedly a homely one at that) to disprove centuries of knowledge. In essence,  the idea of a black swan event is that it points out how fragile our system of assumptions and knowledge are – sitting there waiting for some unpredictable black swan event to toss them in the air. What does this have to do with this dress?  Well, I guess it’s the way the designer took our assumptions of the “black swan” and tossed them in the air to come up with a dress that breathes fire.

Feathers

New skin from Gala Phoenix: Sari with freckles

Sometimes the beauty of a dress is so self-evident that any attempt to describe it merely detracts from your pleasure in seeing the designer’s marriage of art and design and her balancing of the challenges of phantom flexi-prims with the demands of fashion.  The Kungler Couture Passion of the Black Swan dress by AvaGardner Kungler is exactly that sort of dress.  This is a dress that can take your breath away, so just sit back and enjoy the ride.

The fires of passion frame your face with feathers.

A panache of fire and black plumes frame your face together with the silver needles and thread of the old song, The Black Swan by Giancarlo Menotti.

Black Swan

The sun is falling and it lies in blood
The moon is weaving bandages of gold
Old black swan where oh where is my lover now
Where oh where is my lover now

okay, so I CAN mod my hair, sort of…

I was able to mod my hair last night and move the single offending hair prim out of my cheek. YAY! It took 4 minutes and clicking the move Y- button twenty-two times. NOT SO YAY!  And that was with everything going my way.  I was lucky that i guessed y-minus right off the bat and didn’t spend any time clicking the other 5 options at all. And of course, if the prim had been behind another prim, i woul have spent 10-20 minutes moving one prim out of the way so I could click on the prim I need to move and then moving the prim in the way back to position. Actually, no I wouldn’t, I would have given up and deleted the hair.  Honestly, edit scripts are a poor substitute for being able to edit hair. It’s time-consuming and frustrating. And Damselfly is one of my favorite hair stylists, dagnabbit. But on to more cheerful things like the gorgeous dress from TOSL that I have on. Continue reading

Treasure Hunting #2

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

There are treasure hunts and then there are treasure hunts with real treasure like this one at Baiastice. In this photo, I am wearing hunt item #18 – the Delicacy top from Baiastice. The treasure pouch also gives you another in blue that is just as yummy. I tried it with a few skirts and jeans and it looked great with the Adam n Eve leather pants I wore the other day, but I decided that I really liked how it suited the MG Fashions Maria skirt’s dropped waist.  Additionally, the color match was perfect.

The Dress That Fell From the Midnight Sky

You know how sometimes when you purchase an outfit or two, the store owner might happen to be online and send you a thank you IM and even, sometimes, drop you a freebie?  Well, that happened late last night while I was shopping at Azul. Mami Jewell of Azul sent me a thank you IM and then dropped this dress on me as a gift – not a freebie, but one she said would go on sale soon, on Sunday evening.  She didn’t do this because I have a fashion blog – she didn’t know that – but simply because of the lucky happenstance that she was online while I was shopping  past the midnight hour.  I decided that if I like it, I would blog it today. I went home, put it on and almost swooned.

Well, I didn’t just like it. I love it. Velvet textures are hard to get right and these are perfect, deep, rich and lustrous. The narrow skirt widening to a short mermaid style train is made with 3 prims, 2 leg attachments and a skirt prim. With glitch pants and a system skirt, you’re covered for a wide range of movement despite the narrow skirt. The halter bodice rises gracefully, a perfect setting for dramatic and bold jewelry or the classic simplicity of pearls. Then there is the back…oh my, the back.

Cha Cha Cha Cuba

Cuba, cuba here I come
There’s a place in the caribbean sun
Land of future
Land of dreams
Checking for the coast … Ace of Base

Getting dressed last night, i started with the gorgeous Serina Dress in purple from Digit Darkes, but you know I love to deconstruct my outfits, so I took off the top which is the same color as the base of the skirt and pulled out a purple two-layer top from Pixel Dolls to pick up two of the colors in the richly adorned bottom tier of the skirt. It looked lovely, but I wanted a little more heat so I added a burgundy sash from Persona’s indispensable sash fatpack. Have you gotten your own fatpack yet? What are you waiting for? Roses in Denmark

I wandered around Denmark yesterday, looking at the lighthouse, the ships and the village. It was a lovely sim and they had beautiful weather while I was there, with just a light breeze. Luckily, I was wearing a light sweater and was perfectly comfortable. ; )

I layered a baby pink cotton camisole with a lightweight rose pink one-button sweater and a lovely red and pink gingham skirt. The lovely Sasy Marakesh Passion Sandals were a perfect match. What really made the outfit though was the rose flower necklace from chicoco, set off with earrings from DeLa and bangles from VG Republic. For additional photos you can check my Flickr.
