Wherein Yak & Yeti Go Crazy

Every once in awhile a fashion notice will pass by that makes you go hmmm. That’s what happened on Sunday when along came a notice from Yak & Yeti announcing everything in their store was now free. See, when you see a notice like either think it’s poor products, it’s a trick or, if you cynicometer is running low, you think you need to check it out.

So I did and it’s not junk and it’s not a trick and yes, you need to check it out. Yak & Yeti offers traditional Nepalese and Indian clothing and jewelry as well as adorable shoulder pets. That panda  at Yak & Yeti almost tempts me into shoulder pet-keeping. I got some wonderful jewelry there, including this ruby Bollywood set. Included, but not worn are two styles of nose-ring and a stone for the forehead. To wear with it, I decided to become a Dancing Queen. Continue reading

RRRRRABBIT!

posted by Gidge Uriza

It seems wildly unfair to me that Cajsa came exploring this forest with a frenchman to lead the way and I just had to follow her around. But, despite the lack of handsome strangers, I was delighted for her to show me around this wonderful, almost childlike forest. We shot the Fairy photos from the previous post there and she HAD to drag me down the Rabbit-hole for a tea party extraordinaire. Continue reading

Sometimes I'm A Fairy

posted by Gidge Uriza
When MDR had their Midsummer Night’s Dream party, Silo and I couldn’t make it because we were in the middle of the move from hell. Which was really disappointing because we had really been looking forward to it.
And – I already had my costume!
I had flitted from Fairy’s Grove, to Coconut Ice, to a few other places I like but whose name’s escape me to try to find something new. Which is insane because I already OWN several expensive Fairy outfits (I own way more than someone who doesn’t RP probably should). But, stamps feet, I wanted something NEW. The theme was Midsummer Night after all……..I wanted something that said LIFE.
This Leaf Fairy Costume from Fairy’s Grove ended up fitting the bill perfectly.

So since we missed the big shindig – Silo and I did the next best thing, we had a house party with a BELATED Midsummer Night theme and invited all our personal friends. It was a fairy forest after a while, I tell you – with all the beautiful wings flitting about.

I had picked up this Reica hair from Diversity, she had the fun colors pack on sale when she released the hair so the EIRE went perfectly with this green nature fairy look. Continue reading

Down the Rabbit Hole

When I went to Chakryn Forest I had no idea I would be falling down the rabbit hole. I just knew I had dressed up like a giant salt water taffy and should stay away from seaside resorts. You know, my favorite group in Second Life® is the Impossible In Real Life group. I get weekly (or thereabouts) notices of new builds and highlights – places to go, things to see. Many of the places I use in my photos I found through NPIRL. Chakryn Forest is just such a place and home of the group owner and organizer, Bettina Tizzy.

This is a forest for wandering – there’s hidden caves, underwater forests and a handsome Frenchman waiting to show you around, saying “Venez!” Actually, I presume he is not always there, but I was lucky enough to tp there when he was channeling his inner tour guide. Anyway, he’s the one that showed me through the rabbit hole.

This is just part of a lovely House of Cards Tableau, but i will let you find the rest yourself. Just find the White Rabbit and go straight south. Continue reading

Hunting for Apples @ Lemania Indigo

I know I posted only a little over an hour ago, but wanted to encourage you to join in the hunt for this luscious winter coat with the wonderfully vintage 40’s look. You have to find all 15 apples, but they are of a good size, easy to spot and she very kindly placed them more or less in numerical order so if you are missing one, you just need to focus your hunt near the numerically adjacent apples. It took me less than an hour and that included taking a swan boat ride – which ends with another freebie and a few trips on the ferris wheel.

Chantilly Lace

Chantilly lace and a pretty face
And a pony tail hanging down
That wiggle in the walk and giggle in the talk
Makes the world go round

Okay, I just love that song and would dig it out for anything, but it seems to fit with the lovely lace in this jacket. I have another prim jacket of lace made by Rano Noel that I blogged recently. Sadly her store is closed, her website is down and she has not responded to several im’s and note card inquiries. I can only conclude the has left SL for awhile.

Because that jacket was a wardrobe staple I pulled out a lot, I knew I had to find one that met those same needs so I would not be repeatedly blogging one item that you have no chance of finding. So I asked my friend Miffy to make a new one. Basically what was needed was a prim jacket (so you can wear it over those frequent jacket-layer-only tops), that was tintable and had a lace texture to reveal the top underneath and not look too heavy. Membership has its privileges

I had just finished dressing and was ready to shoot an outfit last night when I received a Group Notice from Iota Ultsch of Tres Jolie. This group is a bit different from other SL groups in that you are more likely to get an invitation to come dance the night away as a new product notice. She loves to have fun with her group – and so it was easy to forego shooting photos and pop over to Tres Jolie for a hello. Continue reading

Where were you when I needed you?

Remember me writing about my indecision, my running around from sim to sim, all in the effort to find a costume for MDR’s Midsummer Night’s Dream party?  That was just last Friday – but lo, what should appear in my notices window last evening?

It is not that it’s an outfit from Annalee Balut, one of my favorite designers. Or that that outfit is free for the month of August. It is that the name of this outfit is Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.  So, i have to ask, Where were you when I needed you? Continue reading

I'm Bringing Sexy Back

posted by Gidge Uriza

I’m not the sort of girl who attaches her Xcite and tells, but I can tell you that I spend a lot of time deciding what new delicious thing to wear for intimate moments.  What is the point, the boys will ask? The point is, to me….that I’m saying something about who I am, and bringing sexy with me.

I love classic sexy styling. You don’t have to be in a shorty prim skirt with half your boobs hanging out to show a SLuver or anyone else that your mind is on a private evening. Continue reading
