Queen of Denial

posted by Gidge Uriza

A lot of role play areas have great items that are fantastic for costumes. Not to be missed are some of the Egyptian role play areas (seriously just search EGYPT) where some of the most lavish costumes I’ve ever come across can be found.

I hunted for an Isis or other Egyptian costume for a party earlier this year and scavenged all over the grid looking for the one I wanted.  Part of my challenge was that I had fallen in love with this hair from Tekeli Li and didn’t want to wear different hair but the costumes I found had hair that REALLY had to be worn with the otufit. Chocolat Rose

posted by Gidge Uriza

To celebrate my starting a new RL job after having been downsized back in July, Cajsa took me to one of her guilty pleasures, Chambre du Chocolat to buy me a dress of a present. I spent about a week looking for hair to wear with it. I couldn’t decide – up-do? Short- do? When I ran across Chelsia at Damselfly I knew I’d hit on the perfect compliment to this truly stunning dress. Continue reading

Fairies and Roses

Fairies should not be counted out for Halloween – although the grimmer spirits of witches and goblins and trolls and vampires will cover the earth, don’t discount those mischievious and impish fairies. Sure, they dress a little lightly for the snowy October weather in Minnesota and Alaska, but they might be nice and cosy in sunnyy Australia and Paraguay.

Loitering

Monday night I was getting ready to shoot some photos for the blog and my friend Furrball came visiting. I decided I would shoot at EmVee Cuba because he had never seen it before, so off we went and I showed him round. He suggested shooting against this wall because of the contrast between the light terra cotta and aquamarine of the walls and the deek rich brick red of the skirt. He was so right. I love the way the colors bounce off each other.

China Gold

One of the reasons I love events like Hair Fair and the recent Glamour Expo is that I encounter new stores and designers. Some of them may not be new at all, but are new to me.  I will feel lucky if I even see a tenth of the great fashions in Second Life.Second Life fashion overflows with an abundance of creativity which gives us all the frequent joy of discovery of the new and the exciting almost daily.

All of which is a lot of words to express how happy I was to discover Riviera Couture at the Glamour Expo. I have already blogged two outfits from that experience, but I finally went to the main store to check it out and found this breath-taking outfit.

See what the boys in the backroom will have

This sizzling latex set from Moxie Polano made me think of 1930s Berlin cabarets and Marlene Dietrich.

See what the boys in the backroom will have
And tell them I’m having the same
Go see what the boys in the backroom will have

Lacy Lace

RunoRuno’s white lace dress is extraordinarily flexible, coming in 2 lengths. Because the prim skirt is actually 3 prims, it stays looking good even while dancing – which sure worked for me when I danced away the Sunday afternoon in this dress. I also go a lot of compliments on the dress and can tell you that guys like it.

Da dum, Da dum, Da dum Da dum Da dum, Da dum, Da dum . .

Okay, so it’s leopard, not panther, but I can’t help it that that song pops into my head when I wear this skirt. Not that I complain, that song takes me to a happy place.  Which is why I felt like wearing this happy, joyful and exuberant skirt from Thimbles – a store that always makes me smile and seems to exude such joie d’vivre that I am sure Thimbles designer Apatia Hammerer is Mary Poppin’s great-granddaughter.
