The Three Graces

Last night was a bit of an adventure. I had just found a SqueeCute Halloween costume for 1 Linden at Kuri Style. I was getting ready to shoot it but thought I needed more flamboyant shoes. I recalled these absolutely outrageous-in-a-good way shoes I had seen earlier on an equally outrageous-in-a-bad way woman, Shoes I complimented her on only to get hit over the head with a barrage of rudeness. Oh well, let’s not go there.

Instead, let’s go to Xcentricity where I encountered Newdoll Nikolaidis and Allesist Klaar, two adventurers who are also on the Outrageous Shoes Quest, a lifelong, neverending quest that gives life meaning. We clicked our heels and headed back to the studio to shoot a photo of the 3 of us, all in our new dragonfly shoes – a Halloween gift from XCentricity. Yes, we had just met, but questers on the Way of the Outrageous Shoe have a bond. Newdoll also shot a photo as well and I love what she did with it. Check it out here. And yes, you can like it better than my photos. I like it better than my photos.

Black is Black

ooooh, the new Gothic skin from Tuli is darling. It combines the delicacy of the Elizabeth features with a luminous porcelain skin. When you add the Vamp makeup with its kohl-lined eyes and the carmine lips and you have a face that would make Clara Bow happy.  In honor of it’s gothic perfection, I even gave myself a quick color rinse and have black hair for the night.

Love Is All Around

“I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes.” The water that is. Yes, I went wading in the water at Nameless and am Wet Wet Wet.

JoJorunoo Runo has a few new releases at RunoRuno and passed me some review copies. This one captivated me instantly with it oh-so-sexy form-fitting silk textures. In fact, it is so form-fitting it makes me think of the way silk clings when wet and I had to try it out at Nameless.

I'll Take Mine with Olives

Sometimes you need to cleanse your palate with something different. After several black, red, orange and brown outfits faithful to the season, I decided to cleanse my palate with some olives.

Styling this look started with a coat by Damiani Fashions, shown later in the post. It comes with an open and closed option so I decided to style the coat unbuttoned and set about chossing what to wear underneath.

Laid Back Halloween

I don’t think that every Halloween outfit need flash the words Halloween in neon every five seconds.  You can dress for the holiday in a quiet, subtle way as well. Anyone with a calendar can make the connection, but otherwise, you’re just dressing for the weather – except,  maybe for the spiders.

Sweetness and Light

In contrast to the vamps and witches of Halloween, this outfit has a sweetly naive sensibility. The central element is Muism’s open silk shirt with its impeccable prim collar and cuffs. In a soft, pastel pink print, it matches well with the softly draping broom skirt.

Incidentally, this background is one of the free backgrounds in the thank you gift from Gidge and me for sending us over 700 visits in a day.  You can get the 10 free backgrounds by clicking  the It’s Only Fashion sign in the MDR portfolio room.

Ooh, Spiders

Abraxxa Anatine has gone Halloween crazy. It was not that long ago she released the Desmodus jewelry in all their batwing glory, and now she has released Eww! Spiders! This is a delicate and intricate jewelry set, nearly as delicate as the web weavers that inspired it.

So, I have to quibble about the name. It should be Oooh! Spiders! because spiders are such lovely, handy little beasties.  They eat mosquitoes, no-see-ems, wood ticks and horse flies, what more can you ask of any creature?  And yet, they do more. They spin beautiful webs of intricate lace that inspire our art and imagination. Continue reading
