Cajsa Said SWEATER…..

posted by Gidge Uriza

and then I’m in a sweater mood.  Even in summer a cool cotton sweater can be just the thing at night and I was just strolling around knicknack shopping the other night when I wandered into Stitch by Stitch. Featuring sweaters, some shoes (I’ll show you some on a later post), peasant skirts, and a few other pieces, Stitch by Stitch was a breath of fresh air – especially in their sweater selection.

I wasn’t ready to  completely commit to fall though, and ran over to Digit Darkes to pick up a leather skirt to wear with it……and realized once I had it all together I only own stockings, all of which hit under the skirt for a “I am an SL hooker” sort of look. Don’t get me wrong, I looooove stockings. But sometimes they just don’t look right with a skirt or dress. So I went on a hunt for PANTYHOSE. Continue reading

Why Hades Kidnapped Her

posted by Gidge Uriza

When I visited Chic Boutique again after their re-opening, I headed straight to their swimsuits and lingerie, two areas they where they truly produce unique pieces.  I already own most of their swimsuits, but I spied Persephone and had to pick it up for a more elegant swimsuit option.

Let’s face it. None of us really have to work at picking up swimsuits which cover up our flaws – any flaws we have are intentional.  We are none of us, pixel girls, cursed with our grandmothers cankles or tummies which won’t mind after childbirth.  So then – the choice becomes, what are you saying with the swimsuit you choose to wear? I think sometimes that showing less in this perfect world can sometimes say more – don’t you think? Continue reading

Just Because I Can

So whilst working on the Secret Project this weekend, trekking hither and yon, through hot, steamy boutiques, arid, scorching jewelers and frigid, stormy millineries, I frequently was misled by outdated landmarks and landed in Terra Incognita. Sometimes I found something fun, sometimes I struggled to find my destination. But, a good explorer accepts these mishaps with equanimity – recognizing the opportunity to find new outposts of fashionality. Which is not exactly what happened when I followed the forwarding landmark for Fumi – opting to look around to see what was there, I eventually happened on Fumi on the other end of the sim. The luck was that when I informed the owner that her lm at her old store had the wrong coordinates, she thanked me with a gift of two outfits from her lovely store. This is one of them.

It’s very different from my usual look, so I dyed my hair and drastically changed my skin – to MiaSnow Myriam’s lovely Dahlia, the starlet — because it was fun and because I can. Continue reading

Curio-usly Mismatched

A short post while I work away on my blog project that I hope to finish tonight – I am halfway there. It takes some running around in-world, so I dressed for urban trekking in this fun jacket from LBD. The colors demanded an equally vibrant makeup, so I wore Curio’s Mismatch. There is a close up after the cut. Continue reading

Not Trying to Be Lazy

So, I am super busy on a project for the blog – hoping to finish it up tonight or early tomorrow. I would tell you what it is, but then what fun is that?  Instead, here’s a quick take shot on the wonderful pose dolly at Kari – a new store with clothing and two of the most fun poses props I have seen in a while. Taking Lingerie Public, Part Two

One of my frustrations with Second Life® is that despite having utterly gorgeous lingerie we seldom get to wear it. Even when the layer is free, we often cannot wear our lingerie because straps will show or the thong will rise higher than our pants layer. Yes, we can wear it for our sweethearts, but in that case, how long does it really stay on? Last week I shared one strategy for taking our lingerie public. I decided I would make a continuing series on this topic, examples of lingerie I dragged out of the closet to give them some air.

Today I am using the most common, tried and true technique, wearing a lovely corset as a top. This stunning corset is from Simone Stern’s Style Starts Here – the Ruched Satin Corset with Gemmed Trim. This one is black but it comes in several other colors as well. The jeweled trim on the back of the corset is stunningly beautiful and such a surprise on lingerie.

Ding Ding! Hello….I Lost my Key!

posted by Gidge Uriza

A night out on the town always means something new. I can’t wear something you have already seen! Which means very little recycling in my wardrobe. However there are things I love and trot out – abandoning the very tenant that I pretend is a covenant of my SLifestyle.

Basically, I’m fickle.

One thing I’ve always loved, though, was my Edgy Wilds hair that I bought from Aleri Darkes back when God was a boy. I was sad to discover, when I started doing this blog, that this hair was nowhere to be found anymore. I whined and whined and Aleri made some comment a while back about retexturing it but really…..why on earth would she ever bring it back just because one whiny fashionista moaned about it?

BECAUSE SHE LOVES ME THAT’S WHY!!! How do I know this? Continue reading

Puff Goes the Prim Skirt

Yes, another day and an other Gala skin. This is Emerald with vibrant green shadow and luscious red lips. Thankfully there’s enough yellow to the green to make it not look like Christmas meets Face and to make it a good complement to the dress from ALB Dream Fashion. That dress, after the cut, is made with a wonderful puff of a skirt that is so modern in sensibility in contrast to the somewhat retro fabric pattern.

Seriously, Why Can I Not Get Some Room Service?

posted by Gidge Uriza

Speaking at the Blogher conference in SL, at the “Intersection of Blogging and Second Life” breakout session, was exactly the excuse I needed to go shopping someplace I didn’t NEED to go shopping at. Let’s see, where can I shop and file it under “extravagant and unnecessary?” ARMIDI! YAY! I can buy something at Armidi without any thought to price or usefulness etc. Continue reading

Feeling Naughty in the Moonlight

Eshi Otawara of Chambre du Chocolat is incapable of making a boring dress – and Moonlight is no exception. Moonlight is a delightfully naughty gown, baring a sinuous strip of flesh all the way down the body while curving discreetly to follow the body’s curves and cover everything essential, A deep rich tea, it is highlighted with brighter teal accents along the curve.
