Wherein Yak & Yeti Go Crazy

Every once in awhile a fashion notice will pass by that makes you go hmmm. That’s what happened on Sunday when along came a notice from Yak & Yeti announcing everything in their store was now free. See, when you see a notice like either think it’s poor products, it’s a trick or, if you cynicometer is running low, you think you need to check it out.

So I did and it’s not junk and it’s not a trick and yes, you need to check it out. Yak & Yeti offers traditional Nepalese and Indian clothing and jewelry as well as adorable shoulder pets. That panda  at Yak & Yeti almost tempts me into shoulder pet-keeping. I got some wonderful jewelry there, including this ruby Bollywood set. Included, but not worn are two styles of nose-ring and a stone for the forehead. To wear with it, I decided to become a Dancing Queen. Continue reading →

It seems wildly unfair to me that Cajsa came exploring this forest with a frenchman to lead the way and I just had to follow her around. But, despite the lack of handsome strangers, I was delighted for her to show me around this wonderful, almost childlike forest. When MDR had their Midsummer Night’s Dream party, Silo and I couldn’t make it because we were in the middle of the move from hell. Which was really disappointing because we had really been looking forward to it.
And – I already had my costume!
I had flitted from Fairy’s Grove, to Coconut Ice, to a few other places I like but whose name’s escape me to try to find something new. Which is insane because I already OWN several expensive Fairy outfits (I own way more than someone who doesn’t RP probably should). But, stamps feet, I wanted something NEW. The theme was Midsummer Night after all……..I wanted something that said LIFE.
This Leaf Fairy Costume from Fairy’s Grove ended up fitting the bill perfectly.

So since we missed the big shindig – Silo and I did the next best thing, we had a house party with a BELATED Midsummer Night theme and invited all our personal friends. It was a fairy forest after a while, I tell you – with all the beautiful wings flitting about.

I had picked up this Reica hair from Diversity, she had the fun colors pack on sale when she released the hair so the EIRE went perfectly with this green nature fairy look. Continue reading →

Hunting for Apples @ Lemania Indigo

I know I posted only a little over an hour ago, but wanted to encourage you to join in the hunt for this luscious winter coat with the wonderfully vintage 40’s look. You have to find all 15 apples, but they are of a good size, easy to spot and she very kindly placed them more or less in numerical order so if you are missing one, you just need to focus your hunt near the numerically adjacent apples. It took me less than an hour and that included taking a swan boat ride – which ends with another freebie and a few trips on the ferris wheel.

Tree Hugging

Looking at the clear cut can be pretty sad, but over the hill there’s replanting. In fact, you can help support reforestation by going to the Happy Clam Island Reforestation Project and hugging a tree. Hugging a tree for 20 to 30 minutes while you are going through your day’s notes and message will pay to replant one tree. Or, you can just pay a tree directly. Just go and find a healthy uncut tree and give it a hug. It will thank you. And that should make you happy as a clam. Continue reading →

You know what? I never shop at Sn@tch. Which is really lame of me. I like their stuff. I picked up those fantastic pirate skull shoes they put out for free, and not just because they were free but also because the bows were color change and I thought that they were a hoot.  I would totally have paid for them. 

There are always so many people THERE, and the models are chatty and they freak me out.

And then, I’m fairly sure everyone there hates me also.

Le Petite Fleur has more than an outrageously fun group gift. The store has lots of lovely dresses. The one I am wearing today is a confection with a cream base and several tones of dots in all the shades of coffee, from latte to mocha to espresso. I really wanted to wear this particular necklace, so I took of the dotted bodice that comes with it and chose another top. Continue reading →

In my newbie-hood days, I was addicted to shopping but also had more than a bit of shopping ADD. I couldn’t always remember WHAT I had purchased.  A lot of this I attribute to my former crew who advised me to fill up my inventory with worthless garbage – so that the few GOOD pieces I had, I couldn’t remember their names – or where I got them, etc.

Consequently, I bought some of the same things more than once.

What do you call a dress that is almost free?

So…I am wandering around the Best of Italian Design sim – popping in to test a store SLUrl I added to the directory – and discovered OC: Orage Creations and dropped everything I was doing just to enjoy the marvelously surreal designs. Although most were priced about average for high fashion gowns, there were two dresses indistinguishable from the others in quality, but marked down without fanfare to 10 and 20L. I snapped them up and decided to share the wealth by spreading the word. The first one I put together with MiaSnow’s magnificently eccentric Wild Woman Hair – a magic chair gift. She kindly set the chair to 5 minutes, so it won’t take you all day to win. I thought the wild span of the hair and the wild black plumage at the top of the dress was a nice pairing.
