Tree Hugging

Looking at the clear cut can be pretty sad, but over the hill there’s replanting. In fact, you can help support reforestation by going to the Happy Clam Island Reforestation Project and hugging a tree. Hugging a tree for 20 to 30 minutes while you are going through your day’s notes and message will pay to replant one tree. Or, you can just pay a tree directly. Just go and find a healthy uncut tree and give it a hug. It will thank you. And that should make you happy as a clam. Continue reading

Pink Is Hot:Life Is Good

It suddenly occurred to me that because the only skins of Hatchy’s I have worn were the Demon and the Neko skin that you might think she doesn’t make everyday skins. I decided I would wear her Mimi skin to show you. There’s a reason I don’t wear Hatchy’s skins very often. She made my shape and it’s somewhat similar to her own. She wears her skins all the time, of course, and so when I put one on, I look very much like her. I don’t want to confuse Gidge: one SL daughter is enough. Right, Gidge? Continue reading

Dots & Fleurishes

Le Petite Fleur has more than an outrageously fun group gift. The store has lots of lovely dresses. The one I am wearing today is a confection with a cream base and several tones of dots in all the shades of coffee, from latte to mocha to espresso. I really wanted to wear this particular necklace, so I took of the dotted bodice that comes with it and chose another top. Continue reading

Fleur Perfection

Creamy Cooljoke just wrote about this lovely group gift from Le Petite Fleur yesterday and I had to have it – in part because I used to this dress in RL or one substantially similar. Seeing it made me nostalgic and I rushed to get the dress which took all of two seconds since it was a group gift. It was chilly last night, though, so I added a shrug from Stitch by Stitch to cover the bare shoulders and stay a bit warmer. Continue reading

What do you call a dress that is almost free?

So…I am wandering around the Best of Italian Design sim – popping in to test a store SLUrl I added to the directory – and discovered OC: Orage Creations and dropped everything I was doing just to enjoy the marvelously surreal designs. Although most were priced about average for high fashion gowns, there were two dresses indistinguishable from the others in quality, but marked down without fanfare to 10 and 20L. I snapped them up and decided to share the wealth by spreading the word. The first one I put together with MiaSnow’s magnificently eccentric Wild Woman Hair – a magic chair gift. She kindly set the chair to 5 minutes, so it won’t take you all day to win. I thought the wild span of the hair and the wild black plumage at the top of the dress was a nice pairing.

Meow

Another of the radically different and interesting skins my friend Hatchy has made is this Neko skin with hand-drawn fur covering the entire body. The first time she gave me a skin of this design, before she had completed all of it, she forgot to tell me what it was, so I kept waiting for it to finish rezzing.  I thought it would be fun to style an outfit for this skin – but not necessarily to make it Neko.  Indeed, my choice right off the top was the very un-Neko Baiastice. Demon Love

So when I received two outfits from Kunglers to review and saw that lovely black and white fabric texture in the Metropolli dress was, I was not surprised to see it reviewed several times over on the feed. It’s just that kind of fabric and that kind of dress. I decided to look at the other outfit the sisters sent me and a little black and white light bulb clicked in my head.  Why not toss the two outfits in a bag, shake them up and see what falls out?

The Incredible Hotness of Beige

So there I was, innocently reading this book and along comes a line that said “His world had become beige, passionless and flat.” As a beige-lover I was outraged. There’s so many things wrong with that sentence it’s hard to know where to start, but first lets dispense with the idea that beige is flat.

Beige is a color that reflects light – creating depth and texture that darker colors often lose. It also creates softer shadows than white. You can see the depth and richness of beige in this BoA Creations dress. Beige is a rich color and comes in many variations.

Let’s also throw away the idea that beige is passionless – beige projects a sustained passion. Red is often the color most associated with passion – but red is obvious, blatant, it’s the quickie of color passion. Beige is subtle, mysterious, the slow seduction of color passion. Continue reading

Lady of the Woods

Before going as a fairy, I did spend some time considering other options including this wonderful dress from Fancy Fairy.  If you have even the slightest yen to dress as a fairy, check this place out. The clothes are delightfully feminine and wisely straddle the fairy/not fairy world. This comes with lovely wings, but they can be left off. I have several dresses from there that I have only worn as non-fairy dresses. Continue reading
