Omnibus: New Skin Preview, Tattoos, Studio Tour Pt IV

For those of you concerned that blog reading is bloating your inventory, take a deep breath and relax. Today’s post is about two items you can’t buy today. The first is a preview of a new skin from Hart Larsson to be released in September. The skin is a collaboration with Nardya Rousselot, the tattoo artist, and has lovely, feminine tattoos.

To reflect and highlight the tattoo design, I chose a swimsuit that harmonizes perfectly, but is not on sale. It was a group gift from bijou, the Sail Away swimsuit. This was a gift to group members in July – and a good reason to belong to the bijou group. Yes, I know, it’s not subscribe-o-matic and uses up one of those precious slots, but bijou has amazingly generous freebies and group gifts and deserves its 4% of your group space. Continue reading →

Holy Pink Leopards, Batman, It's Part III

There is a second workroom at the Photo Studio – on the ocean floor.  Down there we have two photospheres set up and that’s where we have all sort of silliness laying around to dress up photos. From moons, to rainbows to shamrocks to raining rose petals on wedding cakes, we have a garden of strangeness on the ocean floor. Taking Lingerie Out of the Closet, Pt. IV

Until Second Life® gives us more clothing layers so we can wear our lingerie under our clothes, we women of SL are kept from experiencing one of RL’s great pleasures in SL – the knowledge that under the paint-spattered overalls, the cook’s apron, the doctor’s scrubs, the power suit our underwear is silky, soft and sexy.  Until then, I guess the best we can do to get a similar joie de lingerie is to drag it out of the closet and wear it so it shows, in this case by pairing a sexy bra with a sheer top.

The Secret Garden of Kaguya

Some days things just fall into place. While testing landmarks for the SLURL directory yesterday, I found this lovely secret garden – but was wearing that black fur jacket and red pants and thought it would not work well for shooting yesterday’s clothes. It was sort of in the back of my mind when I got dressed this morning, but jumped front and center when I tried on this lovely dress I bought at Cover Girl while SLURL hopping. When I also add the new jewelry I picked up at Miriel’s new sim, it’s an amazing confluence of design and color whose coincidence of timing strikes me as unlikely, yet here it is.

Where'd You Get That? Don't Ask…….

I received a big old box o’ hair from House of Heart the other day, and while strapped to my dressing stand trying it on, Miffy popped over to see what I was up to and to tell me she had some new releases.  When I got to Jordan (shown) she said “Here, model this with that one” and passed me the newest release at Don’t Ask..the fur trimmed pantsuit and shoes.

The coffee bean color hair was an easy choice to go with this outfit. This is one of my favorite designs of Miffy’s, it reminds me a mafia wife who bought couture. It’s fun and no pixel animals were harmed in the making of this fur. Continue reading →

It’s a short post, because I’m waist high in 20 cube boxes and I’m only taking a break while SILO runs off to get some BK. But….seriously, Petal Meg Jewelry + Rosemar Dress = FALL FANTASTIC.

I heard from a couple of different places that Honey, not a new designer but in a new shop, was a having a sale the other day and so I popped over to check it out.  After having been on SUCH A cocktail dress binge lately, I’ve been itching to let the more casual, old-school Gidge out of the closet for a bit.  Yesterday it was men’s clothes but today I had to slip back into something a little more girly. The designs at Honey are what I think we’re all coming to expect, lotsa nice details – fun fresh color combinations and realisitic fashions.

Because while I appreciate the Bird Cage dress, I’m not wearing it OUT.

I’m also indulging in a bit of nostalgia here. This hair, from CAKE, was my first nonsystem hair. My friend Queen bought it for me about a year and a half ago, and then I went systemically through their store over the next few months buying every single STYLE of this color. Now just a note about this hair.  You can see the clip there? Ok, as a new player, been playing like oh 20 minutes, I was whisked around SL to upgrade the AV and this hair was one of the purchases. Those hair clips says SCRIPTED. I never, ever, in a year and a half ever bothered to check what that meant. I thought it was referring to the hair being flexi frankly………and then when I got dressed…..I touched them. Continue reading →

Cajsa Said SWEATER…..

…and then I’m in a sweater mood.  Even in summer a cool cotton sweater can be just the thing at night and I was just strolling around knicknack shopping the other night when I wandered into Stitch by Stitch. Featuring sweaters, some shoes (I’ll show you some on a later post), peasant skirts, and a few other pieces, Stitch by Stitch was a breath of fresh air – especially in their sweater selection.

I wasn’t ready to  completely commit to fall though, and ran over to Digit Darkes to pick up a leather skirt to wear with it……and realized once I had it all together I only own stockings, all of which hit under the skirt for a “I am an SL hooker” sort of look. Don’t get me wrong, I looooove stockings. But sometimes they just don’t look right with a skirt or dress. So I went on a hunt for PANTYHOSE. Continue reading →

When I visited Chic Boutique again after their re-opening, I headed straight to their swimsuits and lingerie, two areas they where they truly produce unique pieces.  I already own most of their swimsuits, but I spied Persephone and had to pick it up for a more elegant swimsuit option.

Let’s face it. None of us really have to work at picking up swimsuits which cover up our flaws – any flaws we have are intentional.  We are none of us, pixel girls, cursed with our grandmothers cankles or tummies which won’t mind after childbirth.  So then – the choice becomes, what are you saying with the swimsuit you choose to wear? I think sometimes that showing less in this perfect world can sometimes say more – don’t you think? Continue reading →
