Quick Look: Mr. Poet

I love this sweater. I have one like it in RL and it’s so warm and cozy. It’s my go-to-sweater for those fall events when the weather is just cool enough to need something, but not cold enough for a coat. It’s thick enough that I can wear it in the Oregon rain without getting wet. You don’t get wet when it rains all day and accumulates 2/hundredths of an inch, so it keeps me warm, dry and cozy. Now I have the perfect sweater for visiting those misty, rainy sims.

Better Late Than Never, I hope.

I pulled together a Halloween Ball gown last night because I just could not let the night pass without dragging my favorite piece from last year – the Tangled spider skirt from Prim and Pixel Paradise. Since I blogged it last year, I wanted to change it up, so I rummaged in my paper couture folders for a top I remembered that I was sure would work. I think it did.

Dressing for Rain That Isn't There, plus an Ode to Maitreya

We have an average of 150 rainy days a year where I live  and they are almost all consecutive. We have a sunny, dry season and a cloudy, wet season. As much as folks struggle to make four seasons,  it’s more like 2.5.  It’s not as bad as it sounds, though, since you can run around in the rain for two hours without getting wet. This is the perfect sort of outfit for the kind of rainy days we get. It acknowledges the weather without overreacting.  You want to look like you did check the weather in the morning and are not oblivious to the rain or the old folks on the bus will “tut tut.” What could be better than a lovely sweater dress with a thick enough knit to repel all the rain and some nice warm knit stockings to keep your tootsies toasty? When I saw this Ingrid dress at Lelutka I decided I want one in every color in RL. Now if only they were sold in Lindens.

Menage a'trois

Now that I have your attention – I am referring to this menage made from Shiki Designs, Icing and SiniStyle that I am wearing today. It began when I put on the Tokyo Night Dress from Shiki Designs. It had a plain dark grey skirt with a cream underskirt and was perfectly cute, but not what I wanted.  It also had short sleeves. So…I kept the gorgeous top with the amazing knit texture and the fur trim and trolled my inventory for a skirt – finding this one as part of the Icing Curlicue ensemble.  I had just received the new Vogue that has a marvelous article about fur trim on sleeves and necklines and that made me think I should add sleeves – and still keep the fur on the upper arms. Digging a little deeper in my inventory, I found the Lilith sleeves from SiniStyle – just sleeves…but really cool ones, don’t you think?

99

Every once in a while I take a peek to see how many posts Gidge and I have done using one designer or another. Some of course will be in nearly every post (eyes and eyelashes) and some may have been featured a few times only. I ran into Saschi Vixen at the Shape/Skin Expo and just for fun took a quick peek and saw that we had done Adam n Eve 98 times. We chatted for a while and then her partner dropped a pair of the new Yehaw boots on me and I know what would be in #99.  I told Saschi that we were 2 posts away from 100 and she said we ought to have a party. That may be fun, but I ran out of patience and decided to whoop it up with the kickass Yehaw boots and number 99.

A-Bomb²

Gidge blogged the Paper Heart dress the other day and yet I could not resist its stripey goodness, so I thought I would see what other configuration I could wear it in and the very first thing I tried is another recent A-Bomb release, the pants from No More Words. Stripey heaven! A belt, some wine and thou and I was ready to go.

Rebel Child

So Tenshi Vielle of Boutique (this is a new name) recently dropped this outfit on me and I had to share it because I love the fabrics.

So Tenshi Vielle of Boutique (Note: That’s a new name.) recently dropped this outfit on me and I had to share it because I love the lovely prints in the dress and the insouciant mix of contrasting prints. Putting it all together with the hat and jewelry that came with – I could not help but think of that tremendously earthy and powerful singer Gretchen Wilson and her song Rebel Child.

Blogger Appreciation Week

Yesterday was the culmination of Blogger Appreciation Week, a fun PressieFest for bloggers that may have long term positive benefits for bloggers, creators and readers in that serious and productive discussions in the fashion bloggers group, on Shopping Cart Disco and in plurk looked at ways that creators and bloggers can interact with less anxiety, blogging tips were shared and bloggers discovered many new to them shops that may soon find their way into their blogs. There was a dress code for the party that was strictly enforced and as you can see, it was white tee shirts, jeans, no socks and no jewelry.  Also, as you can see, when agent provacateur Tenshi Vielle showed up everyone started chasing her.

Hanging out in between the afternoon and the late afternoon and evening parties, I tossed on a jacket and shoes so I was basically dressed for the party as I thought it would be fun to meet many of the bloggers I have been reading for the year and a half. I added my trusty Maitreya Desert boots, though just the bottoms, leaving the ankle pieces off. I also added this fabulous Blogger Appreciation gift from MALT – the SE Antique Gold Jacket. If SE means Special Edition, it’s possible it will only be available in other colors, but even so, it’s a stunner with fabulously well made prims. There are several size options in the folder and they have resizer script options as well.
