The Boots…oh, the boots

It’s late and I have been processing photos for what seems like forever, so this will be quick. Looking for a hot little black dress, I pulled out Sensation from Vanity Affair, but sadly as soon as I did, I remembered why I didn’t wear it. The prim skirt is no-mod and was just too big for every shape I tried. Possibly it is supposed to sit well away from the hips, but that’s not what i wanted. Nonetheless, I like the full body stocking of discreet glitter and the sweeping lines of the bodice and back. So…Leeza Baxter to the rescue with her BlackFur skirt. I tossed the skirt prim on and voila!!! You know, every woman needs one full, poufy, hide every problem skirt whether BlackFur from LBD,  or one of the net pouf skirts from Aleri Darkes, Zen or Biana F.  They can save many an outfit whose prims don’t cooperate. More photos are on my Flickr.

But it’s the boots…

I Louvre It

posted by Gidge Uriza

Design constraints being what they are, I’m always charmed when I run into something different in the world of clothing. Whether it’s construction, texture, or a combination of the two – it’s fun to see how creative people can be within the contraints of PS and The World.

This dress from Cachet caught my eye on my first trip to the store. One of a series – I loved the glowing texture which seems to radiate warmth and shine. It was difficult to pick a color – but I chose Jodie at the Louvre and packed up my new purchase. Continue reading

Calypso

Oh, I do love the new Calypso dresses from Mimikri!!! Not only are the luscious and colorful and flirty, but the flouncy construction of the prim skirt allows you to sit and not lose your skirt.  There’s lovely jeweled detailing along the neckpiece and the dress flows softly while skimming your body. It’s a keeper! It’s oh-so-chic styling also demanded an ultra-chic shoe so I dug out my Silver-Studded Pumps from Stiletto Moody. Admittedly, they are a bit glam for many outfits, but for this, they fit perfectly. I was feeling lazy tonight, so I just lazed on one of the trees in my back yard for the snaps. Pink and White Think Alikes

posted by Gidge Uriza

I received the invitation to Boopzee Slade’s rezz day party over the weekend and spent a short amount of time pouting about it, because it looked like I wouldn’t be able to attend due to the time of day. But when I logged in late Monday night to find out that the party was STILL rocking, I was delighted.

With visions of a white frosted cake piped with pink icing flowers in my mind – I went rifling through my closet. My delightful new party dress from the <3 Cupcakes secret sale (got it for ZERO!) was just the ticket for a birtday/rezz day party! I slipped into my shoes and TP’d over to Boopzee’s soiree. Salt Water Taffy

This dress from pop feel is a pastel knit confection that makes me think of Salt Water Taffy. I probably should have gone to Brighton Beach or Coney Island to shoot the photos but the colors made me think of the new Heart Reef Resort with many charming replicas of buildings on Mykonos. In fact, the build has photos of the original by its replica so you can see that this bright, cheery taffy confection of a city has its roots in a real Greek island.  The pop feel dress needed shoes that mirrored the red accents in the dress, so I chose Armidi’s Viviani in red. If Funk and Punk Had a Baby

She would totally dress like this.

When Cajsa suggested Play that Funky Music as our theme for the midweek MDR party I knew right away which new dress I was going to wriggle into.  From Kuri Style, I got turned onto this dress when I first saw it on Free*Style and had been waiting for a fun social event to wear it to. And of course any excuse to pull out one of my favorite hairstyles – Edgy Wilds from Diversity Hair. I can’t even find this hair anymore at the shop so I may be the only one on the grid who liked it.  (Note – ALERI DARKES I LOVE THIS HAIR!) Continue reading

Shopping in the City

Have you been to The World yet? It’s a lovely sim, with all the appearance of and old medieval city throughout. The only anachronistic features are modern steam pipes and, of course, teleport technology.  Not being an RPG player, I wore this delightful sundress from Casa del Shai. When I saw how perfectly it matched the pots in the market, I could not resist taking a snap. With it I am wearing the too charming to be believed mules from Aphrodite Outlander of AC Creations. These shoes are adorable and delightful. Completely the outfit, the cherry wood Boho Gypsy from EarthTones. There are more photos on Flickr – and a closeup and style notes after the jump.

I'll Take Mine On the Rocks

BEWARE MER-MEN AND SAILORS
THERE ARE SIRENS
ON THE ROCKS OF KOH NANA

As a former island dweller I have an ridiculous collection of beachwear – and madly enough I’m still buying. Well I do have a pool, so at least it gets used.
I had originally run over to Nicky Ree to pick up this lovely piece. But when surfing through her blog, looking at the lovelies to be had at her store and I ran into THIS . Never let it be said that I’m a freebie shopper only, my financial advisor Silo would definitely confirm this.  I instantly fell in love with the set and made a mental note to pick it up some time in the future.

Look Like Gold

You look like gold to me, and I’m not too blind to see.
Oh, you look like gold.
Said, you look like gold.

And you make me want to sing with all the joy you bring.
Oh, you look like gold.
Oh, you look like gold.

Like the rays down from the sun when a new day has just begun.
You look like gold.
You look like gold.   (Ben Harper)

The moment I saw this dress, these lyrics from Ben Harper popped into my head and stuck. Oh, they stuck!!! Adam and Eve are geniuses at making fluid fabrics that shimmer and shine. Wearing this Snakeskin Gold dress of theirs is like wearing liquid gold. So of course, I dug into my gold jewelry to accessorize, mixing earrings and bangles from DeLa with the perfect gold texture of the Kraftika necklace #112. Yes, I know I wear it a lot. That’s because it’s the Goldilocks of gold – not too brassy, not too bright, not too dull, it’s just right. Speaking of just right – those Glamour Metallic Pumps from Detour are also just right. The water spray from the falls obscures their sheen a bit, but for a perfectly balanced gold, you can’t find better. For more photos, see my Flickr. Continue reading

Carnal Delights in Real Life and Second Life®

When I want to feel sexy I first reach for my lingerie drawer because no matter what I am wearing, if my lingerie is beautiful and flattering, I feel sexy from the inside out. I want to feel the soft, delicate silk against my skin. It doesn’t matter who else sees it, I know it’s there and it makes me feel good. I came across a marvelous lingerie store today that cracked my no-spending-today resolve in a heartbeat. It’s called Carnal and it’s doubly dangerous because not only is it a store in SL, but it’s also a store in RL. Yes, if you love those panties, you can have them in both worlds. Uh-oh!

There are many more photos on Flickr. More info, style notes and a closer look at the lingerie after the cut. Note: depending on your circumstances, these may not be work-safe as the bra is sheer enough to be transparent.  Continue reading
