The woods are lovely, dark and deep

Stopping by the woods, I decided to rest a bit on the handy dandy Torridwear benchwarmer. I wasn’t dressed for much walking around in the woods, but a short stroll down the lane could be lovely. Actually, I am wearing the glitch pants from the Cachet Cleo dress – one of my favorite dresses of all time.  Ever considerate of the average fashionista’s desire for versatile clothing, Cachet includes leg prims with the dress so the glitch pants can double as fancy, pleated dress pants.

Sunday Morning

posted by Gidge Uriza

I have been extreme remiss in visiting my friends the Kungles new Sim. I sent a present but between being sick and kids being sick and then being busy blah blah blah blah I never got over there. Which is lame of me, as they are some of my favorite designers in SL.

So when I went wandering around, taking in their lovely new mainstore, I was excited to take in all the news, and maybe the not-so news things I hadn’t noticed before. Continue reading

Quick Look: Kali

I admit I have favorite designers – and Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice is one of them. She brings such whimsy and joy to her work that her clothes often make me smile. She’s generous with her group, providing monthly gifts that can bowl you over. She creates new silhouettes and has new ideas  – and most of them work well. Then she turns around and makes some delightful bit of fun like this Kali jacket that all you can really say is that she is unpredictable.

Digitally Enhanced

Slap me before I pun again. Many of you have seen several of Digit Darkes new sex-on-wheels outfits this past week so I thought I would show you one and focus mainly on the hairstyle I am wearing with it. I organize my hair into two main folders, one for Red Hair and one for everything else. The Red Hair Folder is the big one and inside it I have the expected sub-folders for short, medium etc. One folder, though, I have labelled photo hair and in it I keep those photo-loving hairstyles that are not quite made for walking around, but that look wonderful in a photo. The new Esme hairstyle from Exile is going in that folder.

1 + 1 = 3

So while wandering the shops at Ivy Falls I came upon a shop with a mixed bag of clothes from different stores. Above the door, almost invisible to the casual shopper I saw this ballgown that seemed sort of anachronistic. The sleeves and skirt and all seemed like a historical gown, but the shirt fabric with the elephants was clearly modern.  It occurred to me that bringing it into the future with a mini skirt would be kind of fun and be a great example of how mixing and matching can make 1 plus 1 equal 3.

Having fun with tints

I picked up the marvelous Exile Shir hair – a fundraiser for Heart of Love – and love it’s classic looks and its flexibility. That clip holding the french twist in place is color change, but it’s also modifiable, so I could color it to be as matchy-matchy as I wanted. Now how fun is that?  And if you get this marvelous hairstyle you will also be helping the Heart of Love campaign.  It’s the epitome of win-win. Then you can wear it with the over the moon wonderful watercolor sweater and skirt from Uncle Wiggily.

It's a Mod, Mod, Mod, Mod World

Today’s outfit would never have come together if not for the good sense and grace of designers who allow their customers to mod their clothes. I really wanted to put these pieces together but the colors weren’t quite right…but thanks to flexible and smart designers from Thimbles and Maitreya, I am happily wearing exactly what I wanted to wear. It all started with this fun and adorable coat from BomBon. Yes, BomBon, not BonBon.

Simply Sn@tch

When I was getting dressed to go globe-hunting this weekend – before I got distracted and didn’t hunt a thing – I looked in my Sn@tch folders knowing I would find something sharp and snazzy.  Sn@tch is another one of those stores where you consistently get good quality clothing at a reasonable price and in fatpacks with lots of color and layer options. The shrug I am wearing is in multi-color fatpack suggestively titled Bit of Trim. I have to confess a deep and abiding love for the Sn@tch clothing names. Normally, I wish designers would just name a blue fur-trimmed mini-jacket something obvious and clear like Sn@tch Fur-Trimmed Knit Sweater Shrug instead of the meaningless names like Helen, Grace and Debra. I can’t remember those names and constantly have to rename folders to more meaningful names. The witty Sn@tch names with their double entendres, however, stick in my head and I can recall what they are.

Magic Time

Shirt, Pants and Vest all from Street Magic

Don’t lose the wonder in your eyes
I can see it right now when you smile
Let me go back, for a while
Let me go back, for a while
To that magic time

You can call it nostalgia, I don’t mind
Standing on that windswept hillside
Listenin’ to the church bells chime
Listen to the church bells chime
In that magic time

Fashion in Exile

Perhaps if Napoleon could have worn this hat at St. Helens Elba, maybe he would have stayed and that whole Hundred Days and Waterloo could have been avoided. Okay, probably not, but it’s a thought. Okay, so the thing is, when I saw this hat on the feed yesterday I logged in to grab that hat before I was distracted and fotgot, but if I am completely honest, I would not have forgotten. It’s just that cool – and it has a touch texture change script to give me lots of options.

The other fashion excitement yesterday was the new store Street Magic that opened with great fanfare and a party that I completely forgot about until it was over. Street Magic is a store with 4 designers making clothes, shoes, jewelry and poses – all with the last name Magic – alts created for the purpose of doing the store together – and a smart way to keep their inventory manageable and to allow themselves real free time as their original avatars when they aren’t working. That gorgeous blouse I am wearing is from Street Magic – sent in a review pack with items from all the creators. This picture shows how well the textures are done – wrinkles, shadows and highlights all combining to make it fabuluscious – a neologism just for Street Magic.
