About Cajsa Lilliehook

Santino Rice's little ditty "It's only fashion" seems a perfect title for my little fashion blog as you and i know that fashion means the world to him. Co-founder of It's Only Fashion and Blogging Second Life.

If you go out in the woods today…

I went for a walk in the woods today and thought this lovely floral challis dress suited my mood perfectly. From ACgirl, It’s actually a babydoll, but I lowered the skirt prim to better suit my preference for dresses with a waist. The woods were lovely, dark and deep… but thankfully I could teleport so it was a quick trip home.

*Sheer* Elegance

*Sheer* Stockings is one of those stores that do one thing and do it better than anyone. They make sheer fabric stockings in several designs. Gorgeous stockings like the Waves stockings I am wearing with this dress. The dress is also from Sheer, but I would argue that it continues their expertise in working with sheer fabrics. The bodice is made on three layers. If you wear one layer, it’s very revealing. If you wear three, it’s demure. And if you wear two, as I am, it’s flirtatiously seductive. At first glance, it seems demure, but if your partner is really looking at you, he will get an eyeful – front and back. There are more photos on my flickr

I wore it to the opening of my good friend, Pielady Small’s show at The Bluffs last night. It was a sim-filling party. She had to send my TP timed when someone left. It took a while to get there, but her work is stunning and worth the many, many attempts to TP in. The Pato Milo Trio broadcast live from their RL show @ Restaurante Bocci in Vallejo, California and the crowd noises in the background really added to the convivial atmosphere of the party.

Kiss the Sky

One of my favorite Second Life artists is elros tuominen – a prolific sculptor and poet whose work is visually stunning and always new. I recently went to the NMC Arts Lab  to see the wonderful work on display in their Kiss the Sky exhibit and sure enough, elros had a few pieces, including this immersive work. It’s much more beautiful in-world than in this photo because no static photo can capture the wonder of a kinetic sculpture.

Likewise, no photo can capture the kinetic movement of the gorgeous skirt on this lovely dress from Casa del Shai. Let me just say this right up front. “My name is Cajsa and I am a Casa del Shai addict.” Shai Delacroix’s textures have amazing shading and detail. They make you want to reach out and stroke them.

I kept my accessorizing minimal with this dress, adding only a pair of wood earrings from Ume Mode and Baba Yaga shoes from Enkythings. These are actually the first pair of “good” shoes I bought in Second Life and they have served me well. More photos are on my flickr. Style notes and more after the jump. Continue reading

Big Yellow Taxi

When I heard AOHARU had a 50% off sale, I rushed to the store and bought the fat  pack of their leather rider’s jacket that I had been drooling over and then I had to wear one right away. A necklace would lie under the jacket, so I decided to wear a VOGART Pucci-inspired scarf with it. It had the same attachment point as the jacket collar, so i made a copy and attached it to the spine instead and then did some adjusting. Well, a LOT of a adjusting.

The scarf suggested my burnt orange cigarette pants from Ingenue and Storm Schmooz’s funky Rubba ankle boots. Some earrings from chicoco and the trusty bangles from Fresh Baked Goods and I was ready for a stroll through the Cannery.  I thought I might take a cab, but the cabbie was nowhere to be found.

Butterflies Are Free

Some of these butterflies are free – a freebie from Baiastice. When I put this lovely, whimsical dress from Biana F on, it struck my how similar in color intensity and detail the butterflies and flowers were to the darling gift from Baiastice and I wondered if they would suit as well as I imagined. Well, I will let you judge for yourself, but I liked it. I liked it even more when I tossed on MiaSnow Myriam’s delicate and fragile Black Dahlia skin. I admit I would not wear it everywhere, but for the right party – I think it’s a great combination.

You can see more photos on my flickr. A more conventional accessorizing of the dress and style notes are after the jump.

Great Gingham's Ghost, Batman!!!

Okay, that title is a reach, I admit it. But this gingham skirt from AOHORU had me reaching for superlatives to describe it and coming up short. I lovely pink, blue and green satin gingham, the lovely color combination is only surpassed by the quality of the fit and design. The belt rests exactly where it should, the prim skirt attaches beautifully without butt bubbles. It’s so well-made I did not have to nudge and adjust a thing and that sort of excellence deserves a Holy Batwings! sort of exclamation. What does deserve a big exclamation, though, is the lucky fact that AOHARU just put everything on sale for 50% off. Holy Lindens, Batman!!!

The excellence from OAHARU doesn’t stop there, however, look at the charming turtleneck that once again has perfect prim placement for the sculptural fullness and verisimilitude we all want. Best of all, by putting the prim collar on the spine, you can put on a necklace without losing the collar – a frequent occurence since many designers instinctively put it on the chest (makes sense) as do most jewelry designers. The skirt and tops are sold in several colors and in a great fat pack. However, to find the fat pack you need sharp eyes, they are a small white square at the BOTTOM of the shelving unit holding the clothes. Sadly, I found them after I bought a few skirts and tops.

Luv Chocolate

Wandering the forest last night, this wonderful chocolate sculptie jacket tossed on top of a melon cami kept me comfortably warm. Brown is a hot trend this spring – a popular neutral and with the popularity of tribal prints it’s finding its way into nearly every wardrobe. Some people jokingly say brown is the new black.

Well, I would like to argue for brown being the new black and the old black. It’s a softer tone, less hard, less stark and much more flattering against your skin. When choosing a top to wear with this chocolate skirt and sweater, I tried on pink, blue, yellow, cream, black and melon. I went with the melon, but I could have easily worn any of the other colors. Better yet, those colors next to brown look richer than when they are next to black. Next to black, they will look brighter – and be less flattering and look cheaper. So, what are you waiting for? Get some chocolate in your life.

Hot Night in Havana

Blue pencil skirt dress

It was a hot night in Havana last night so I threw on this cool silk number in an bright electric blue and added a pair open toe sandals. There’s nothing like tight little skirt skimming your hips to show off your rumba. The dress, Lovinda, by premier vintage revivalist Ivalde, is a perfect figure-hugging dream. Unfortunately, the skirt is not modifiable, so for those of us with the intermittent skirt glitch, it’s not always wearable. Still, it’s worth doing Edit Appearance 6-7 times, when such a great dress will finally rez.

Fresh-Baked Geisha

My favorite stores for clothes shopping are those small, idiosyncratic boutiques that offer maybe 20 items instead of 200, whose clothing is not designed to mix and match, but follows the creative whims of the designer. That’s where you find some of the more fun and unique clothing and accessories – such as most of the items in this outfit. The dress come from Stitch by Stitch on the new moosh sim. It’s a delightful store created with love and if you care to take up sewing your own, they have an adorable sewing machine, too. Like many of the really fun boutiques, they offer around 20 items, not 200, but each one is unique. Fresh Baked Goods, where the mah jongg bracelets came from is equally delightful – a pastel confection and though it offers only a few items, they are wonderful. These fabulous bracelets have a touch script to change colors. Full disclosure: my bracelets were a gift from the owner – a thank you for my mention of her other fabulous bracelets in another post. Twinkleberry – the source for the necklace and earrings – falls into that small boutique group as well – and like them, has unique designs.

That’s not to say I don’t have a big space in my heart for the high-end department stores and other major designers. When I need to fill a hole in my closet – when i know what I am looking for, that’s where I go. But for whimsy, there’s nothing like a small boutique

Belted In

by Cajsa Lilliehook

I have been itching to post about these luscious pants from LeeZu Baxter for awhile now. I like babydoll dresses and think they are cute, but nothing seems more feminine to me that clothing that accentuates the waist. I am sure my love of vintage styles is as much for the way they define and flatter the figure as for the rich and luscious fabrics of the past. Most pants are designed to emphasize bootie, but these pants give the waist some love.

With all the different colored belts, I could choose any blouse, but went for the faded rose color – a color that flatters nearly every complexion. The blouse is sheer and sexy and I might wear it alone for some occasions, but for wandering and exploring the grid – out and about among strangers, I took the safe route and wore a lacy bra underneath. My partner Maht had one comment, “Digital prude!!!”  I should have told him that I was wearing PornStar Hi-Tops. : )
