Calypso

Oh, I do love the new Calypso dresses from Mimikri!!! Not only are the luscious and colorful and flirty, but the flouncy construction of the prim skirt allows you to sit and not lose your skirt.  There’s lovely jeweled detailing along the neckpiece and the dress flows softly while skimming your body. It’s a keeper! It’s oh-so-chic styling also demanded an ultra-chic shoe so I dug out my Silver-Studded Pumps from Stiletto Moody. Admittedly, they are a bit glam for many outfits, but for this, they fit perfectly. I was feeling lazy tonight, so I just lazed on one of the trees in my back yard for the snaps. Salt Water Taffy

This dress from pop feel is a pastel knit confection that makes me think of Salt Water Taffy. I probably should have gone to Brighton Beach or Coney Island to shoot the photos but the colors made me think of the new Heart Reef Resort with many charming replicas of buildings on Mykonos. In fact, the build has photos of the original by its replica so you can see that this bright, cheery taffy confection of a city has its roots in a real Greek island.  The pop feel dress needed shoes that mirrored the red accents in the dress, so I chose Armidi’s Viviani in red. Shopping in the City

Have you been to The World yet? It’s a lovely sim, with all the appearance of and old medieval city throughout. The only anachronistic features are modern steam pipes and, of course, teleport technology.  Not being an RPG player, I wore this delightful sundress from Casa del Shai. When I saw how perfectly it matched the pots in the market, I could not resist taking a snap. With it I am wearing the too charming to be believed mules from Aphrodite Outlander of AC Creations. These shoes are adorable and delightful. Completely the outfit, the cherry wood Boho Gypsy from EarthTones. There are more photos on Flickr – and a closeup and style notes after the jump.

Look Like Gold

You look like gold to me, and I’m not too blind to see.
Oh, you look like gold.
Said, you look like gold.

And you make me want to sing with all the joy you bring.
Oh, you look like gold.
Oh, you look like gold.

Like the rays down from the sun when a new day has just begun.
You look like gold.
You look like gold.   (Ben Harper)

The moment I saw this dress, these lyrics from Ben Harper popped into my head and stuck. Oh, they stuck!!! Adam and Eve are geniuses at making fluid fabrics that shimmer and shine. Wearing this Snakeskin Gold dress of theirs is like wearing liquid gold. So of course, I dug into my gold jewelry to accessorize, mixing earrings and bangles from DeLa with the perfect gold texture of the Kraftika necklace #112. Yes, I know I wear it a lot. That’s because it’s the Goldilocks of gold – not too brassy, not too bright, not too dull, it’s just right. Speaking of just right – those Glamour Metallic Pumps from Detour are also just right. The water spray from the falls obscures their sheen a bit, but for a perfectly balanced gold, you can’t find better. For more photos, see my Flickr. Continue reading

Carnal Delights in Real Life and Second Life®

When I want to feel sexy I first reach for my lingerie drawer because no matter what I am wearing, if my lingerie is beautiful and flattering, I feel sexy from the inside out. I want to feel the soft, delicate silk against my skin. It doesn’t matter who else sees it, I know it’s there and it makes me feel good. I came across a marvelous lingerie store today that cracked my no-spending-today resolve in a heartbeat. It’s called Carnal and it’s doubly dangerous because not only is it a store in SL, but it’s also a store in RL. Yes, if you love those panties, you can have them in both worlds. Uh-oh!

There are many more photos on Flickr. More info, style notes and a closer look at the lingerie after the cut. Note: depending on your circumstances, these may not be work-safe as the bra is sheer enough to be transparent.  Continue reading

Play That Funky Music

Wednesday night’s MDR Studio party theme was Play That Funky Music and so I needed a great dance dress that recalled the bright spirit and joy of Funk. This Vertical dress in citrus from Adam and Eve fit the bill nicely – it’s sheen reminiscent of the 70’s love affair with shiny fabric/ With a contemporary flair to the skirt and up to the minute accessories from Earthtones and DeLa, I felt I could have that funkadelic spirit and stay in my own time, so to speak.  I could wear an outfit, not a costume.

Berry Big-shouldered Broads

Do you love old movies? One with powerful women playing important roles? Some of them are cruel, some are vicious, some are downright wicked, but they fight and they struggle and they are tough. Man, are they tough, those big-shouldered broads like Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. I love those big-shouldered broads! When I saw Chai’s Ginger Crush skin on my shape, I immediately thought of Joan Crawford and all those tough women and this outfit just naturally flowed from there.

I chose the Ingenue dress, Bonnie in Berry, because it had a strong vintage professional look like something Rosalind Russell would wear in His Girl Friday. The artilleri hair continues the vintage “We Can Do It” sentiment as to the sensible, though chic, shoes from Shiny Things. The jewelry from Chey’s is slightly too modern, but simple enough to squeak by. You can see more photos on my flickr

Not So Mellow Yellow

Forget mood-altering drugs, give me some clothes! Nothing can perk me up faster than a bright print that shouts, “Hey World! Look at me!” and that’s what the print skirt in the lovely Outono outfit from MG Fashion. The skirt comes with 3 perfectly coordinated tops – and I chose the petroleum colored one because I wanted another POP of color and this brilliant pink Dictator Jacket from Digit Darkes was what the doctor ordered.

This jacket comes in six colors and you should collect them all because they are great add-ons to move a nice outfit from cute to chic and from sweet to scrumptious. Not only that, but they are very versatile as I have shown before – wearing just the sleeves from my yellow jacket to turn an ordinary tube top into a hot, hot number. Take a look on Flickr for more views. Continue reading

Custom Maid (and a freebie)

So I am running around to all the Kraftika shops last night, hoping there’s something new because I love, love, love their jewelry. Sadly, there wasn’t anything new. However, one of the shops happened to be upstairs in the Xtreme Relooking shop where the owner, Myriam Republic was there. She kindly showed me where the store was and we got to talking. Myriam and her partner make custom shapes and skins and darn it anyway, if I didn’t end up walking out of there with this skin with a custom makeup she made while I waited. All I can say is that I am thrilled with it. Continue reading

Peach Sorbet

Bianca F always can be relied on for imaginative and fun outfits. She doesn’t disappoint with her super-sexy net skirts that show lots of leg. The skirts come in several colors and I went for the peach – a color that flatters every skin tone. Of course, it also matches my skin tone very closely so the skirt seems more daring than it really is. There really are glitch pants under there, I promise.  I paired it with a corset from PixelDolls. Can anybody make a corset like they can? You can see more on my flickr.
