Sunday Afternoons At the Velvet With George

Gidge has the perfect outfit for Sunday Afternoons at the Park with George and, someday, I am sure she will get around to blogging it. As for me, well my Sunday afternoons are usually spent at The Velvet where MDR business partner Maht spins a couple hours of great music mixes. This Sunday I wore this made-for-dancing Splatter r Dress  from Axel. I had stopped by Axel earlier on Sunday to admire their ambitious store remodel.  I was impressed with the beauty of the store and with the thoughtful arranging of outfits.  It was hard to limit my spending, but who can complain when the fruits are as adorable as this.

Jackie & The Shrimp

AvaGardner Kungler passed me a pair of dresses yesterday, both called Jackie. The black one is above and I am certain I need not identify who inspired the dresses.  I love that era’s clothing with the simple elegance typified by Jackie Kennedy.  I tried on the the black dress first, loved it and shot the photos for the blog before trying on the second – the Jackie Red which came as a surprise to be because although it was the same cut and style, it was a print – a fabulous pop print that immediately made me want to shoot it too. Not wanting to do the exact same thing twice, I decided to shoot a remix and post them together.

The skirt is from the original Kunglers Jackie dress. I added a sweater from Fleur and a belt from Ornamental Life. Jean Shrimpton was the super-model of the early 60’s. In face, she might rightfully be considered the first international SuperModel – preceding Twiggy by a few years. She was the face of pop fashion and so I decided to style this more for Jean Shrimpton – the Shrimp.

It was a dark and stormy night

As the April 15th deadline nears for this year’s Bulwer-Lytton contest, I thought I might encourage you to check out the web site. It’s an annual award for bad writing and by bad writing, I mean really bad writing.  I was reading the 2008 results and laughing and thought you all might enjoy a good laugh, too, so I decided to shoot this great jacket and pants from Ibizarre in a “dark and stormy night” setting.  Ibizarre had a 10L sale on everything on the second floor and not one to resist a great sale, I found myself on a mad, but inexpensive, shopping spree. The black and white print jacket is beautifully made and the striking Fitzgerald belt from Lelutka really sets it off.

Sensational

Infinity Skins is now open – though still unofficially – so you can hop over and try out the demos of the different skins I have been wearing most of this week. This one is Ava and it is an elegant and regal face that really suits this Seldom Blue gown called Sensations. And the name of the gown suits this skin – and I am sure when you try out the demos, you will think they are sensational too.

Dita Did It

While perhaps not the most famous wedding dress in the world, the Vivienne Westwood stunner that Dita von Teese wore for her wedding has got to be in the top ten – if only for its bold royal purple silk taffeta fabric. Impossible has taken on the challenge of recreating it in-world and proved that contrary to the name, it is possible.

At Last

The snow leopard coat from Endeavor seems to have been made for the new At Last dress from A-Bomb. Even the attachment points are different so the coat does not knock off the fur trim on the dress.

At last, my love has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a song

En Vogue

Miffy of Zenith and I have been friends since my first month in Second Life and have spent many hours sitting on a pig talking about this that and the other thing. I remember watching her make her first clothes and marveling at her sureness and speed in moving those prims around. She often sends me her newest creation and every once in a while I will blog one that is less neko that most of her clothes.  Now is when I admit that she once asked me why I dressed like an old lady. Such is the difference between 20 and 33. However, we are both a year older now and that year makes a bigger difference for her…which really shows in the increasing feminity and maturity of her designs. This last dress she did is just stunning and for the first time, I am doing a blog post of an outfit in all its colors: silver, gold, pink, blue and black.

Truth Be Told

Truth be told, there was a rocking hot hair sale at Truth with single color sets of hair for only 50L, so I popped over to stock up because Truth makes good hair and in particular, makes amazing updos. This one is Antie II and comes with many flower choices. I had to edit the attached flower a bit because its original attachment point displaced an earring and that just won’t do. I must have been on auto-pilot and not thinking because my first attachment was to the eye. Now all of you should just go an attach a hair flower to your eye just so you can have a good laugh. I laughed so hard I hurt. I ended up putting it on the chin.

Cute Alert

Okay, sometimes clothes are just too darn cute. You put them on and say “Aww!” and then you run around upping the cuteness quotient by choosing a cute hair style and cute shoes and cute makeup. Of course, if you mention Schroedinger’s Cat people might not think you know what you are talking about, but smart people will know better. One of the things I really like about today’s television shows is the prevalence of cute and smart people – like Abby on NCIS and Charlie Eppes and Amita Ramanujan in Numbers. I just love seeing smart people who are cute. Now, what does this have to do with the Aqua Plaid dress from Dani’s Fine Fashions. Well, it’s cute. It’s really cute. It’s not black, so Abby would not wear it….but it’s a great bargain, so it’s a smart purchase. Which would make you both cute AND smart.
