Saving Daylight

There’s an easier way to save some daylight than having the whole word jump forward. We could just all wear yellow and bring some sunny cheer to the day. And we would not have to lose an hours sleep to do it. You know I really love these tartan tights from !*G^G*! because I hate that store name and would prefer to never type it out again.  Nonetheless, when I put this outfit together I knew I needed to use those tights just for the whimsy of it all. Mixing It Up

So I put on this adorable little wispy, puffy dress from Gigi Couture and thought that despite how adorable it was, I was in the mood for something different. I liked the colors though and decided to just mess around with trying some different skirts. One of the first I tried was skirt from ALB Dream Fashion in cerise. It comes with a white or cerise belt and I chose the cerise.

Stealing Tops

It was a sad, sad day when I realized I accidentally deleted by Pink/Peach tops folder. Yes, in a frenzy of inventory cleaning I deleted a folder instead of an item in it – and then emptied the trash. Now, I would have minded less if it had been my gestures folder since I never use them, but sadly, it was my tops folder with all my pink and peach blouses. Dang! Don’t clean inventory when held together by TheraFlu.  Thank goodness I can cannibalize dresses and use dress bodices for tops which is what I did here.

Lollygagging

Sorting my inventory, I came across the lovely yellow floral print dress from &Bean. It’s called Skinny Love and if skinny means short, it’s well named. I was in the mood for a longer option and remembered the lovely tulip skirt from mocca and switched it out and headed off to Lollygaggers Shopping Experience to shoot a few pics – not that the run down and decrepit look of the shopping lane matched the outfit, but for the opposite reason – that it is so grim in contrast to the light cheerfulness of the outfit.

Just Red

This outfit mixes a corset from Deadly Nightshade with a system skirt from Little Rebel. I love the system skirt – especially since I made myself a skirt shape to reduce the big booty bounty so common in the regular shape with a system skirt.  Little Rebel is the epicenter of system skirt magnificence and smart fashionistas will make an occasional foray there to ensure they have a a few of the highwaisted system skirts to mix and match with short tops and corsets.

lotta lamb

There’s been an explosion of Lamb on the feed lately and in particular this long hair style from Lamb has been ubiquitous. Of course, that always leades to some griping that we all show the same damn thing. First, I think Achariya’s most recent challenge resoundingly trounced that complaint. Secondly, gripers ignore the substantial benefit of having the same hair shot in varied styles in varied degrees of photo quality and manipulation. With that many photos, if there were major flaws, they would be exposed. And lastly, when something comes along that excites this many people and seems to be “everywhere” it’s only because it solves a problem everyone shares. In this case, here we have flowing long hair that comes forward naturally and yet does not plunge into your breasts, appearing below like some appendage of cousin Itt.  It’s got something that people have been wanting and so it’s exciting. This should confirm for you that it’s a great product, well worth buying.

What's in a name?

What’s in a name? That which we call ciabatta by any other name would still smell as tasty and wholesome when hot out of the oven. Okay, I confess I am so confused by the name of this gown from Sascha’s Designs that she will be releasing in several colors this week? It’s called Ciabatta and the only ciabatta I know of is the wonderful Italian sourdough bread.  This dress makes me think of many thinks, lakes, moonlight, flowers and romance. It does not make me think of artisan breads.  Okay, maybe a toasty brown version of this dress could be called ciabatta.

Don’t get me wrong. I love ciabatta. It’s soft and delicious and flavorful and has a hard, crunchy crust.  Yummy! But the bread is rustic and this is elegant. The bread should have a hard crispy crust, this is soft and satiny.  Ciabatta is light and airy and full of holes….aha!!!! That must be it!!!

Digit's Egyptian Revival

I am always curious what Digit Darkes will do for festivals like the Digital Alchemy show at Kings Rezzable. Her design sensibility is so strong that you know that no matter where or what the initial inspiration, the ultimate design will be recognizably and indisputably hers. To be clear, that’s not saying she is uninfluenced by her inspirations – but rather that she never allows her source of inspiration to limit her design and that is truly the spirit of Egyptian Revival fashion. In essense, then with Digit’s design you have Egyptian Revival for 2009.

Theda Bara's Dress

Another favorite from the Digital Alchemy celebration of Egypt was this marvelous gown from Laughing Academy that wholeheartely embraced the multiple influences of the Art Deco Egyptian Revival movement. By designing a dress as an homage to Theda Bara, Laughing Academy frankly places the gown right smack in the middle of that movement.
