En Vogue
Miffy of Zenith and I have been friends since my first month in Second Life and have spent many hours sitting on a pig talking about this that and the other thing. I remember watching her make her first clothes and marveling at her sureness and speed in moving those prims around. She often sends me her newest creation and every once in a while I will blog one that is less neko that most of her clothes. Now is when I admit that she once asked me why I dressed like an old lady. Such is the difference between 20 and 33. However, we are both a year older now and that year makes a bigger difference for her…which really shows in the increasing feminity and maturity of her designs. This last dress she did is just stunning and for the first time, I am doing a blog post of an outfit in all its colors: silver, gold, pink, blue and black.
Truth Be Told
Truth be told, there was a rocking hot hair sale at Truth with single color sets of hair for only 50L, so I popped over to stock up because Truth makes good hair and in particular, makes amazing updos. This one is Antie II and comes with many flower choices. I had to edit the attached flower a bit because its original attachment point displaced an earring and that just won’t do. I must have been on auto-pilot and not thinking because my first attachment was to the eye. Now all of you should just go an attach a hair flower to your eye just so you can have a good laugh. I laughed so hard I hurt. I ended up putting it on the chin.
Too Pretty for Mourning
This lovely black gown with the gorgeous fur neckline and the lovely tulle drapped gloves was sent from the soon to open Phoenix Rising. I fell in love with the exquisitely rumpled full skirt and the beautifully constructed fur collar. As soon as I tried a necklace, though, the collar dropped off as it was attached to the chest instead of the spine. So I decided to copy the collar and attach the copy to the spine to free up the chest for a necklace and thought I might show you my method which is pretty easy and foolproof.
The Edge of Heaven
Fire! I can see it burning so brightly
Fire! I can feel it calling out to me
And as the sun goes down
It starts to paint a picture
Of an ancient town
1 + 1 = 3
So while wandering the shops at Ivy Falls I came upon a shop with a mixed bag of clothes from different stores. Above the door, almost invisible to the casual shopper I saw this ballgown that seemed sort of anachronistic. The sleeves and skirt and all seemed like a historical gown, but the shirt fabric with the elephants was clearly modern. It occurred to me that bringing it into the future with a mini skirt would be kind of fun and be a great example of how mixing and matching can make 1 plus 1 equal 3.
Having fun with tints
I picked up the marvelous Exile Shir hair – a fundraiser for Heart of Love – and love it’s classic looks and its flexibility. That clip holding the french twist in place is color change, but it’s also modifiable, so I could color it to be as matchy-matchy as I wanted. Now how fun is that? And if you get this marvelous hairstyle you will also be helping the Heart of Love campaign. It’s the epitome of win-win. Then you can wear it with the over the moon wonderful watercolor sweater and skirt from Uncle Wiggily.
There's no such thing as too many sweaters
Okay, sometimes when I am trying to shove the sweater drawer closed and cursing under my breath as I lean again the dresser, I guess I think there is such a thing as one sweater too many, but other than that – no, it’s impossible to have too may. Sweaters are transformative. This sweater, from Sysy Chapman, changed my jeans and t-shirt from a simple jeans and tee combo into an Outfit. Now instead of looking like I grabbed the first things that showed in my inventory, it looks like I planned and thought about what I wore. That’s what sweaters do, they keep you warm and make you look planned and put together.
Celebrate!
Boom has yet another enticing and lovely outfit – a dress this time – called Celebration. However, please don’t store this in your Christmas Clothing and Jewelry box to molder away until next year. It’s a lovely dress that can be worn year round. Here you see it with the delicate lace jacket from Zenith – a tintable froth of a jacket.
Winter Yum
Styles of Edo – which includes the wonderful designs of Marni Jewell formerly of azul – has many lush and glorious ball gowns. My favorite, though, by far is this richly textured, super-saturated festival of deep colors called Dark Pearl. With rich hand-painted silk organza, the color play in this dress is magnificent.
