Quick Look: Mr. Poet

I love this sweater. I have one like it in RL and it’s so warm and cozy. It’s my go-to-sweater for those fall events when the weather is just cool enough to need something, but not cold enough for a coat. It’s thick enough that I can wear it in the Oregon rain without getting wet. You don’t get wet when it rains all day and accumulates 2/hundredths of an inch, so it keeps me warm, dry and cozy. Now I have the perfect sweater for visiting those misty, rainy sims.

Far… Far!!!

I tromped over to Isla Mallorca where the magnificent carnival Far… Far! is located.  There’s some gorgeous sim decoration and structures on sale there as well as carnival items. I wanted a casual look and after totally busting my budget with a stop at Mimikri, I had to pull out some of her gorgeous fall collection. The sweater dress and pants are from Mimikri, but I thought it was a bit chilly for all the open air in that sweater so I tossed on a turtleneck from Reale.

The skin is a preview of the soon to be released July skin from PXL Creations. I love the face and don’t want to take it off. The expected release is mid-October and I personally cannot wait to see the other makeups. According to Hart Larsson, PXL Creations designer, there will be more colorful makeup options than in his previous skins which tend to stick to classically elegant makeups.

Goodnight Moon

I love the cool light of the moon illuminating my shots and frequently shoot in the moonlight. Nonetheless, while shooting this fabulous outfit from Dutch Touch, the song running through my head was Goodnight Moon, the anthem of the scared-of-the-dark crowd.  Perhaps it’s because of the Kill Bill 2 soundtrack. The strong look of the dress, the options of black, red or gray (shown) and the tough girl look of the dress have just a bit of the edge that might have someone sleeping with guns, a blade by the bed and a phone in hand.

Well goodnight moon
I want the sun
If its not here soon
I might be done
No it wont be too soon til I say
Goodnight moon

DARE – ing

Last Friday I DJ’ed at Vicious Southside  and decided to dress the rocker chick part to the nth degree. When I got around to shooting the photos, though, I could not resist using the fun and avant garde poses from DARE – which means, of course, that I shot a pile of pictures. My outfit was mostly Mimikri – taking the bodice from a dress and mixing with pants and a jacket.

Bandana Day With the Sexiest Swimsuit in Second Life

So reading the newest issue of Sxy2nd I see that readers voted and chose a swimsuit from JustB as the Sexiest Swimsuit in Second Life. I definitely had to check that out. The suit in the photo was white, but I chose the red for my bandana day outfit because, hey, it’s the 4th of July tomorrow.  You are not seeing the sexiest option, that is after the cut and still discreetly photographed…you know me. I had some running around to do, so I covered up a bit with some other super sexy clothes from Exodi.

If you were paying attention last week, you would have popped over to Exodi for the 50% off sale in which 100% of proceeds were to be donated to Make A Wish Foundation in Michael Jackson’s memory. The total raised was 812.99  which is very exciting. While the sale was on, I ran over and picked up just about all the tops she has.

Crocheting

When most of us learn to crochet, we start out with a straight crochet and make a potholder or a dishcloth, but soon we move on to the ubiquitous granny square that has been used to make 857,634,999,234,741,337 afghans to date. If you don’t have one or two of your own, well – how did you escape?  Granny square afghans usually are made when a crocheting relative has enough partials skeins from their blouses, dresses and skirts to combine – with utter disregard for color harmony – into one crocheted rectangle big enough to cover your legs – no matter that with its huge holes it will not keep you warm. It’s the thought that counts.  However, at anuenue, we have someone who realized the granny square has other applications and made a bodice that originates in that design. Contrary to traditional granny square design, it is one color and that gives it a cohesion the traditional pattern usually lacks. Still with the folk roots of the granny square and the flowing gauze skirt, this is the perfect boho dress.

Jazmin & Clyde

Bonnie & Clyde may have come to a bad end, but I think Jazmin and Clyde roll together famously and will ramble along until a comfortable retirement in some distant inventory purge.  The Clyde in this outfit is the new line of ribbon-tied ankle boots from Digit Darkes.  Jazmin is the marvelous minidress from Bare Rose that is as soft, romantic and frilly as can be…and flexible as well, wearable as a blouse or dress (just drop the  prim) and comes in several colors. I chose the wear the black dress for this shoot.

The Best Store Name Ever

Waking up stiff and cold, huddled in the back seat of a rusted out Nash Metro that I pulled over somewhere off the highway outside Las Vegas, I stretched and squinted past my knees wincing at the light bouncing off the white sands of the desert plains. I grabbed my bottle of whiskey to quench my dry mouth and saw I had emptied it in the night and unfortunately for my head, I didn’t spill a drop. A Soweto beat booming in my head from the mix of whiskey, chips and salsa and whatever else I could grab at the Arcade, I crawled out of the car and decided to end this little experiment in Gonzo writing by rezzing the huge box of promotional items from Fear & Clothing – the best named store in Second Life. The first thing I tried on was this Sharkskin Red Striped jacket that I completely fell in love with.

Group Gifts

I found a surprise in my Objects folder that said Jador Group gift and when I opened it up there was this lovely black and red rose floral lingerie.  Not content to hide it under a shirt, I decided to put on a skirt and let it shine, because it really is quite lovely. To be frank, now that we have the subscrib-o-matic option, I join groups without as much thought…since they are unlimited and so long as they do not flood me with notices, I will stay and sometimes log in to bright red surprises like this one.
