When I met Sable Heartsdale, I knew right away she’d find her niche in SL and be a boon to anyone she worked with. She was MY boon for a short time when she was my assistant manager. Since the dissolution of that team she’s gone on to manage and now co-own the Royale Elite Gentleman’s Club .

I wanted to pop over and check out her new place but couldn’t decide what to wear. I hadn’t pulled out this sweet little prim-skirted dress from Honey Soul yet so I thought why not – it’s understated but club-kicky-fun (is that a word? No, probably not). Berry Big-shouldered Broads

Do you love old movies? One with powerful women playing important roles? Some of them are cruel, some are vicious, some are downright wicked, but they fight and they struggle and they are tough. Man, are they tough, those big-shouldered broads like Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. I love those big-shouldered broads! When I saw Chai’s Ginger Crush skin on my shape, I immediately thought of Joan Crawford and all those tough women and this outfit just naturally flowed from there. 

I chose the Ingenue dress, Bonnie in Berry, because it had a strong vintage professional look like something Rosalind Russell would wear in His Girl Friday. The artilleri hair continues the vintage “We Can Do It” sentiment as to the sensible, though chic, shoes from Shiny Things. The jewelry from Chey’s is slightly too modern, but simple enough to squeak by. You can see more photos on my flickr.

Not So Mellow Yellow

Forget mood-altering drugs, give me some clothes! Nothing can perk me up faster than a bright print that shouts, “Hey World! Look at me!” and that’s what the print skirt in the lovely Outono outfit from MG Fashion. The skirt comes with 3 perfectly coordinated tops – and I chose the petroleum colored one because I wanted another POP of color and this brilliant pink Dictator Jacket from Digit Darkes was what the doctor ordered. 

This jacket comes in six colors and you should collect them all because they are great add-ons to move a nice outfit from cute to chic and from sweet to scrumptious. Not only that, but they are very versatile as I have shown before – wearing just the sleeves from my yellow jacket to turn an ordinary tube top into a hot, hot number. Date Night – That's What Friends Are For

You can imagine how bewildered I was when Silo told me to buy a pretty dress because we were going to have a fancy SL date. I mean, BONUS – an excuse for shopping. But being married in RL means that we don’t spend a lot of time doing the “romance” stuff in SL.  Plus the fact that he spends about 99% of his time in SL as a little robot AV.

His instructions were simple. Buy something VERY fancy. We were going to a very fancy place that required reservations. Cajsa and I ran the gauntlet of elegant stores but wouldn’t you know I went back and bought the first dress I had run into. I had first thought of going to DeGroot because I had picked up a gown for my Christmas Ball there and was WOWED by the loveliness and detail of it. And of course I now had a perfect reason to pick up those Elphaba heels from Digit Darkes I’d been coveting but they just seemed so FANCY I couldn’t ever figure out what to wear it with.

My only question when picking out this dress, then, was WHICH COLOR? It came in several but I settled on Teal. There is a wide variety of colors available, you can find them in world or on SLX. You can see the rest of the shoot here on my flickr page.

Custom Maid (and a freebie)

So I am running around to all the Kraftika shops last night, hoping there’s something new because I love, love, love their jewelry. Sadly, there wasn’t anything new. However, one of the shops happened to be upstairs in the Xtreme Relooking shop where the owner, Myriam Republic was there. She kindly showed me where the store was and we got to talking. Myriam and her partner make custom shapes and skins and darn it anyway, if I didn’t end up walking out of there with this skin with a custom makeup she made while I waited. I was briefly at a loss for what to wear when invited to Bakura for a party with a bunch of clone stormtroopers.  A good friend just resurrected from the SL dead plus a newbie friend were looking at me with excitement about going to such a fun sim so I excused myself for a few minutes to go AFK and read my notices and attachments to find something new to wear.

Imagine my delight when I noticed Aleri Darkeshad released a new babydoll cocktail dress and the red color was on sale for 24 hours. I’m never partial to a true babydoll – so I tend to slid the skirs DOWN to the waist but regardless of which way you wear it, this shimmering dress is a fun new addition to my wardrobe. Peach Sorbet

Bianca F always can be relied on for imaginative and fun outfits. She doesn’t disappoint with her super-sexy net skirts that show lots of leg. The skirts come in several colors and I went for the peach – a color that flatters every skin tone. Of course, it also matches my skin tone very closely so the skirt seems more daring than it really is. There really are glitch pants under there, I promise.  I paired it with a corset from PixelDolls. Can anybody make a corset like they can? You can see more on my flickr.

Long Weekend Relax – And some EXCELLENT Freebies

I wanted to be comfy for Memorial Day and remembered that I had a slew of casual separates from WRONG – from Christmas when they gave away a gift a day. Sliding into jeans and a light cotton sweater was an quick and easy choice, especially for a day of boating or cooking out or whatever I was going to be doing. (It gets cold on boats at night you know!).

Plus I’ve been looking for an excuse to wear these Marilyn Monroe shoes I got at Artilleri – so something black seemed like a good fit!

If you go out in the woods today…

I went for a walk in the woods today and thought this lovely floral challis dress suited my mood perfectly. From ACgirl, It’s actually a babydoll, but I lowered the skirt prim to better suit my preference for dresses with a waist. The woods were lovely, dark and deep… but thankfully I could teleport so it was a quick trip home.

*Sheer* Elegance

*Sheer* Stockings is one of those stores that do one thing and do it better than anyone. They make sheer fabric stockings in several designs. Gorgeous stockings like the Waves stockings I am wearing with this dress. The dress is also from Sheer, but I would argue that it continues their expertise in working with sheer fabrics. The bodice is made on three layers. If you wear one layer, it’s very revealing. If you wear three, it’s demure. And if you wear two, as I am, it’s flirtatiously seductive. At first glance, it seems demure, but if your partner is really looking at you, he will get an eyeful – front and back. There are more photos on my flickr. 

I wore it to the opening of my good friend, Pielady Small’s show at The Bluffs last night. It was a sim-filling party. She had to send my TP timed when someone left. It took a while to get there, but her work is stunning and worth the many, many attempts to TP in. The Pato Milo Trio broadcast live from their RL show @ Restaurante Bocci in Vallejo, California and the crowd noises in the background really added to the convivial atmosphere of the party.
