Cha Cha Cha Cuba

Cuba, cuba here I come
There’s a place in the caribbean sun
Land of future
Land of dreams
Checking for the coast … Ace of Base

Getting dressed last night, i started with the gorgeous Serina Dress in purple from Digit Darkes, but you know I love to deconstruct my outfits, so I took off the top which is the same color as the base of the skirt and pulled out a purple two-layer top from Pixel Dolls to pick up two of the colors in the richly adorned bottom tier of the skirt. It looked lovely, but I wanted a little more heat so I added a burgundy sash from Persona’s indispensable sash fatpack. Have you gotten your own fatpack yet? What are you waiting for? I Ain't No Holla Back Girl

posted by Gidge Uriza

Miffy was horrified that I had been in SL over a year and only owned on proper set of boots. So when she gave me these – I knew I had to rock a fun outfit to go with. Something MAD MAX vs. spoiled Diva was what I was going for.

Digit Darkes had a L$1 sale on a hidden item, the Piper shirt and it was an incredible find.  Some designers do separates well, some do full outfits, but Digit does both and it’s so much fun to pick up a new piece and see what you can do with it. Continue reading

It Shines!

Yes, I know the world and her sister is blogging the new releases from Armidi.  But then, who could resist such sumptuous shine as this? I have to shade my eyes!  This is the Barlu Fiore Tresia and if could only speak Italian I could tell you how well-named it is. The word fiore is flower – familiar from the wonder millefiore necklaces that are a wonderful RL wardrobe addition. That is so apt, that I am sure the rest of the name is equally perfect. Whether I can understand the name or not, I know I love it. There are a few more photos of it on my flickr and more info and style notes after the cut. Continue reading

The Boots…oh, the boots

It’s late and I have been processing photos for what seems like forever, so this will be quick. Looking for a hot little black dress, I pulled out Sensation from Vanity Affair, but sadly as soon as I did, I remembered why I didn’t wear it. The prim skirt is no-mod and was just too big for every shape I tried. Possibly it is supposed to sit well away from the hips, but that’s not what i wanted. Nonetheless, I like the full body stocking of discreet glitter and the sweeping lines of the bodice and back. So…Leeza Baxter to the rescue with her BlackFur skirt. I tossed the skirt prim on and voila!!! You know, every woman needs one full, poufy, hide every problem skirt whether BlackFur from LBD,  or one of the net pouf skirts from Aleri Darkes, Zen or Biana F.  They can save many an outfit whose prims don’t cooperate. More photos are on my Flickr.

But it’s the boots…

Cotton Candy

I am noticing a trend. Chocolate, saltwater taffy and now cotton candy. Some sweet tooth must be experiencing a renaissance in my subconscious. But truly how else to describe these confectionary colors that are so common and so charming in this Spring’s collections. This pink is not a floral pink, it’s not a celestial pink, it’s a confectionary pink.  That’s why these luscious colors make us salivate. This particular confection comes to us from Mimikri – I know, twice in 2 days I am wearing a Mimikri outfit, but I dress by whim and want – not with an overarching plan to present some cross-section of Second Life® fashion.

Shopping in the City

Have you been to The World yet? It’s a lovely sim, with all the appearance of and old medieval city throughout. The only anachronistic features are modern steam pipes and, of course, teleport technology.  Not being an RPG player, I wore this delightful sundress from Casa del Shai. When I saw how perfectly it matched the pots in the market, I could not resist taking a snap. With it I am wearing the too charming to be believed mules from Aphrodite Outlander of AC Creations. These shoes are adorable and delightful. Completely the outfit, the cherry wood Boho Gypsy from EarthTones. There are more photos on Flickr – and a closeup and style notes after the jump.

Play That Funky Music

Wednesday night’s MDR Studio party theme was Play That Funky Music and so I needed a great dance dress that recalled the bright spirit and joy of Funk. This Vertical dress in citrus from Adam and Eve fit the bill nicely – it’s sheen reminiscent of the 70’s love affair with shiny fabric/ With a contemporary flair to the skirt and up to the minute accessories from Earthtones and DeLa, I felt I could have that funkadelic spirit and stay in my own time, so to speak.  I could wear an outfit, not a costume.

If you go out in the woods today…

I went for a walk in the woods today and thought this lovely floral challis dress suited my mood perfectly. From ACgirl, It’s actually a babydoll, but I lowered the skirt prim to better suit my preference for dresses with a waist. The woods were lovely, dark and deep… but thankfully I could teleport so it was a quick trip home.

More photos on Flickr. There’s an additional photo and style notes after the jump.
