Lunamaruna

When I saw this lovely argyle print dress from Chantkare, I immediately thought of the argyle-lined jacket from Royal Blue. They really work perfectly together. You can find them both at Call For Couture which is raising funds for The Samaritans.

I shot the pictures at Lunamaruna – a little city that makes me think of Dr. Seuss. It’s great fun and worth a visit.

Autumn Has Arrived

sep29_006.jpg

Most of the fall collections have been released and we fashion-lovers are awash in riches – and in the rich autumn colors of red, orange and gold. Autumn also brings the return of soft and cozy fabrics like cashmere and velvet, rich in texture and soft to the touch. In Chantkare’s fall collection one of the best examples of that wonderful fall combination of texture and color is the Leopsi dress – made with rich autumn colors and devore velvet.

Ahem, about that challenge, Lord Winter?

When Winter Jefferson challenged Gidge to style an outfit featuring Exile’s exuberant Zoe hair, she rose to the challenge and threw down the gauntlet. Well, it seems Lord Winter is too busy planning his upcoming nuptials to Tenshi Vielle to answer the challenge – but never fear, I decided to give it a go and flap that glove in Winter’s face a few times. After all, shouldn’t a challenger actually do the challenge, too? So, here it is: Exile’s Zoe. Yes, it’s a wild and hairy sort of challenge – literally. However, I found it was deceptively easy. You see, the hair may be wild and full of exuberance, but it’s expertly placed exuberance that somehow just didn’t seem to intersect nearly as much as I expected. I really did not have to do a lot of searching for poses that work.

I did, however, think it deserved somethind wild, so I raided a pants set from Chatkare for the top and paired it with the truly wild Feather Skirt from So Many Styles.

G-L-O-R-I-A, Gloria!

The new Gloria dress from Chantkare is a lovely lacy confection with a big full skirt and a wide waist sash, but it was too romantic for my  mood for when I put it on, so I took off the skirt and switched in the sleek and sexy Pixel Dolls High Button Miniskirt instead.  The blouse is the sort that puts the va in va-va-voom but  I wanted something to wear with the new buckle wedge from Anexx. Something edgy, not romantic. Switching skirts gave the top a whole new direction.

Quick Look: Chantkare

Applonia Criss dropped a few items my way a couple weeks ago, including this lovely day dress (Kim) that is elevated from casual to chic with some clever embellishments on the neckline.  It’s a lovely mauve color – a great fall color that’s less ubiquitous in fall designs. In this shot, you can also get a good look at the fabulous new hair from Exile – Juliette. Exile has new textures that are even better than before, so it’s an exciting time for those of us who love Kavar Cleanslate’s innovation and experimentation with style and movement in hair.

Do Not Stare DIRECTLY At This Cleavage

posted by Gidge Uriza

When Claire Harford released her SSV3 skins at Symphony Skins, she made sure to includ a busty vs. normal version with – as you can see – some bombass cleavage built in to the busty version.

It might blind you, look carefully – shading your eyes with a shadow box. Continue reading

No. 99

I grew up in a church that was rich in musical tradition. Services were full of music and at least two Sunday evening services a month were music only. All of us had favorites and would call them out by number. The pastor’s son could be counted on to jump to his feet and shout No. 60 (The Old Rugged Cross) the second the service began. My favorite was No. 99 – In the Garden. When I put this dress on this morning, that song came into my head and I have been singing and humming it ever since. It’s a song that really exemplifies the ecstatic tradition in protestant faith, though some people get all huffy if you say that.

Green Machine

I filed this skirt mentally with Codie’s Catch Phrase “Do  Want, That is All.”  It’s multi-hued texture and fun bouncy construction make it a great fit with a slouchy sweater or a  more form fitting top if you wanted.

I was feeling a bit slouchy. Continue reading

Disco Mix and Match

posted by Gidge Uriza

The new disco pants – Hup Hugger Gold Sparkle – required something flashy to wear with them. I decided I was Cajsa, and that I was going to pull part of another outfit away and make it work with this outfit! I took the top and the sleeves from AXEL’s Dolly Dress which is a fun retro satin texture and made a great pairing.

This is another great example of mining your inventory to make a whole new look out of things you already have!  Unless you’re a SLebrity you’re like me and want to make those lindens count, so mixing and matching pieces together is a great way to get a new look out of things you already have. Bright Lights, Big City

Sadly I could never finish the book Bright Lights, Big City even though I generally like Jay McInerny. Something about reading an entire book in the second person is just too daunting. Still, the jacket from Chantkare is called Brite Lite which made me think of the novel…and then this pose is such a “model” pose that it also made me think of how the main character would look at mannequins in shop windows and imagine they were his wife.  Blog post titles are so hard to come up iwth sometimes and the tenuous connections that create them can be bizarre.  Not bizarre, however, is the Brite Lite tweed jacket.  It’s marvelous and makes me think of Chanel.  I love jackets and this one is just so well structured.
