Float like a Butterfly

nov24_003

Applonia Criss of Chantkare has given us a floaty dream of a dress that had me popping over to the Musei di Roma Capitale where there’s this marvelous new exhibition with a hallway all aglow with shifting gold lights and marble columns. With a dress so elegant yet effervescent, I wanted a setting that seemed to have that same brilliant combination.

There was this three-sheep pileup

nov13v_004

How did this happen? Should I call 911? I know tornadoes do strange and mysterious things, but I don’t see any other storm damage at Empress & Hierophant, but wandering the hills I came upon a three-sheep pileup and stopped to help. However, the sheep seemed immovable and I eventually left them there – stacked and waiting for rescue from someone with proper perms.

The Flesh Game: My Road to Reality TV Victory

The Flesh Game - the first murder

I showed up a few minutes late for the first day of shooting of the new reality show, The Flesh Game. Clearly they have not been in the business for long because there were no paparazzi and no step and repeat for photos to introduce us to the soon-to-be adoring public. So my fashionably thirty minutes late was not right on time as it should have been and the studio lobby was empty except for disappointed hopefuls who did not get the lucky 7th and last opening in this game.

I've been blown to the right and the left of the light

Oct12_013

Autumn flower rhyme filtered through my mind
But I wouldn’t begin to explain without help from a song
And the moon and the sun

Sometimes the wind that blows through life
Can stir up the darkness and pain
Oh I’ve been blown to the right and the left of the light
It’s the wind but I still feel to blame

What I Wore at Fashion Week

chantkare_001

We were asked to keep our Avatar Rendering Cost below 1500 which meant stripping off lots of alpha textures and intricate jewelry. It is not, however, a mandate to look boring, but rather a challenge to find style within the confines of 1500 rendering cost. I chose the simple sheath dress from Chantkare that was released at Modavia Fashion Week as there’s nothing like wearing the latest season at the season’s show. Chantkare’s Applonia Criss is such an expert at mixing patterns that I wanted to toss my hand in the ring when accessorizing. I added a short jacket from Reale and shoes from House of Fox that were a Platinum Hunt gift last month.

Chantkare Delight for Modavia Fashion Week

Applonia Criss of Chantkare knows prints and can match them better than anyone.  She has a bold palette and paints with an assertive, confident brush. This gorgeous skirt and top are perhaps the most subdued in her collection for Modavia Fashion Week, but the quiet details won my heart. I love the skirt sculpt with the the ribbon edging and trim and the gentle gathers. And green is my favorite color!

Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge

apr13_007
I thought I would walk around Old New York and Staten Island sims and even take a little hike across the Brooklyn Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge is one of those bridges that capture people’s hearts and imaginations. Its stunning sweep and the visual delicacy of its suspension wires makes it a work of art. My outfit for the day is perfect for a jaunt around the City with a gorgeous tweed jacket that can be removed if the weather warms up.

Double Take: A Balancing Act

apr12_007
One of the exciting things about fashion is the way you can shift the entire mood of an outfit just by changing a few accessories. I thought I might add a new “feature” occasionally taking one outfit and giving it two looks. I am starting out with the Brio dress from Chantkare. I love the bold graphic look of this dress with the over-sized collar, bell sleeves and the bold stripes. I first selected accessories that emphasized its clean, modern lines.
apr12_020
I chose some soft and feminine accessories that would change the focus, adding a softer, more romantic element that still honors the modern graphic style of the dress.
apr12_004
I shot the pics at Camomile – home of tram where I bought some of the accessories I use to set the mood for the two looks. There’s a chair outside the store with a fun balancing animation that distracted me until i decided to just go ahead and use it in the shoot – after all, fashion is often a balancing act between moderation and exuberant extravagance.
