It was at a 4th Friday Art Exhibit I hosted once at Vicious (yeah I used to make them do cultural stuff ….no shooting the artistes)…that I was exposed to the vibrant, kinetic artwork of Elros Tuominen. Cajsa was friends and had suggested his sculptures for our next event, so I said sure no problem and we were set.

So I’ve got this new bed, we’ve established that. What you probably don’t know, is that I’m a bit picky about how I look IN ALL situations. So, I was running the gauntlet on some of my lesser-worn skins – trying to find one that didn’t end up with wonky seams and odd coloring when I was, ahem, twisting into various pose ball contortions and after a while the site of my own pixel naked-ness was wearing me out. I used to shop, with my old crew, and listen to boys endlessly fawning over them. We’d TP into a place to shop or dance, or – back in the day, gamble….and SUDDENLY boys would flock over to them babbling about how pretty they were. And not your usual “I want make sex”. I WISH I’d had two men in any sort of truck this past two weeks as I underwent the nightmare of moving my entire life from point A to point B. But, let’s talk about the clothes and put all that ugliness, heavy lifting, and dirt behind us.

Ever go shopping with a friend whose clothes you NEVER really like?  Or maybe it’s their hair, or shoes. And they want you to embrace shop B or shop C because OMG they LOVE this place.  And are you like me? Down the Rabbit Hole

When I went to Chakryn Forest I had no idea I would be falling down the rabbit hole. I just knew I had dressed up like a giant salt water taffy and should stay away from seaside resorts. You know, my favorite group in Second Life® is the Impossible In Real Life group. I get weekly (or thereabouts) notices of new builds and highlights – places to go, things to see. Many of the places I use in my photos I found through NPIRL. Chakryn Forest is just such a place and home of the group owner and organizer, Bettina Tizzy.

This is a forest for wandering – there’s hidden caves, underwater forests and a handsome Frenchman waiting to show you around, saying “Venez!” Actually, I presume he is not always there, but I was lucky enough to tp there when he was channeling his inner tour guide. Anyway, he’s the one that showed me through the rabbit hole.

Hunting for Apples @ Lemania Indigo

I know I posted only a little over an hour ago, but wanted to encourage you to join in the hunt for this luscious winter coat with the wonderfully vintage 40’s look. You have to find all 15 apples, but they are of a good size, easy to spot and she very kindly placed them more or less in numerical order so if you are missing one, you just need to focus your hunt near the numerically adjacent apples. It took me less than an hour and that included taking a swan boat ride – which ends with another freebie and a few trips on the ferris wheel.

Chantilly Lace

Chantilly lace and a pretty face

Okay, I just love that song and would dig it out for anything, but it seems to fit with the lovely lace in this jacket. I have another prim jacket of lace made by Rano Noel that I blogged recently. Sadly her store is closed, her website is down and she has not responded to several im’s and note card inquiries. I can only conclude the has left SL for awhile.

Because that jacket was a wardrobe staple I pulled out a lot, I knew I had to find one that met those same needs so I would not be repeatedly blogging one item that you have no chance of finding. So I asked my friend Miffy to make a new one. Basically what was needed was a prim jacket (so you can wear it over those frequent jacket-layer-only tops), that was tintable and had a lace texture to reveal the top underneath and not look too heavy. You know what? I never shop at Sn@tch. Which is really lame of me. I like their stuff. I picked up those fantastic pirate skull shoes they put out for free, and not just because they were free but also because the bows were color change and I thought that they were a hoot.  I would totally have paid for them. 

There are always so many people THERE, and the models are chatty and they freak me out.

And then, I’m fairly sure everyone there hates me also.

Cajsa Said SWEATER…..

…and then I’m in a sweater mood.  Even in summer a cool cotton sweater can be just the thing at night and I was just strolling around knicknack shopping the other night when I wandered into Stitch by Stitch. Featuring sweaters, some shoes (I’ll show you some on a later post), peasant skirts, and a few other pieces, Stitch by Stitch was a breath of fresh air – especially in their sweater selection.

I wasn’t ready to  completely commit to fall though, and ran over to Digit Darkes to pick up a leather skirt to wear with it……and realized once I had it all together I only own stockings, all of which hit under the skirt for a “I am an SL hooker” sort of look. Don’t get me wrong, I looooove stockings. But sometimes they just don’t look right with a skirt or dress. So I went on a hunt for PANTYHOSE. Continue reading →
