I have a love hate relationship with photo contests with emphasis on the latter. Mainly I love to look at the winners and hate to do them. More accurately, they make me mad at myself. Because however many times I think I will do one, I procrastinate and forget it and then remember it the day they announce the winners. However, there’s a photo contest ending Friday that did inspire me to enter…this will actually be the third contest I will have ever entered despite a two-year stint as a photographer. As I said, I generally remember the contest the day they announce the winners. The main reason I am inspired to do this contest is that the designer is a good friend of mine with whom I have spent hours giggling. Add to the that the recognition that the dress is smoking hot. From Tres Jolie, this is L’Amour Ultra-Mini.

Baby Got a New Pair of Shoes
Abraxxa Anatine of EarthStones brings a jewelers eye for detail to her shoe making – and every pair of her shoes are truly jewelry for your feet. Last night she released 10 news shoes and kindly sent me a couple pair of truly exquisite ones. The shoes are called Lalika and each pair lets you select between 3 metals and 3 stones to expand your options. The pair shown above are raspberry and I selected the Sugilite stone option. With these shoes I am wearing a lovely dress from KA Designs called Cove.
This pair is her Fruit Punch shade. There are five pairs of shoes with different colored straps and 5 pairs with single color straps and she is selling them individually or in two fatpacks. The fatpacks are 30% off which gives you almost 2 pair in discount. With these shoes, I am wearing the newest dress from Mimikri – the Sina in stripes.

There was a little girl
There was a little girl who had a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead. Okay, you all know I edit hair all the time, tinting it to suit, moving a strand of hair out of the way for a hat or for a photo, depending on the need. I just always make sure I am working with a copy. Now I have no sorry tale of woe, nothing like that. No, what I have is a sorry tale of not looking from multiple angles. I recently edited this hair a bit because I wanted my earrings to show in an outfit. So there I was shooting this outfit and noticing this curl going in front of my face and wanting to move it, but try as I might I could not select it. I kept missing. Finally, I cam out to see what in the heck is going on…and that one curl was about half a meter in front of my face, just so well lined up with my other hair, I could not see it from the angles I had been looking. So definitely, I had a curl right in the middle of my forehead and leading by half a meter. Moral of the story: After you are done editing, cam from multiple anges to check for silly things like that.
Lydia, the Tattooed Lady
My life was wrapped around the circus.
Her name was Lydia.
I met her at the world’s fair in 1900,
marked down from 1940.
Ah, Lydia.
She was the most glorious creature
Under the su-un.
Guiess. DuBarry. Garbo.
Rolled into one.
Oooooooh
Lydia oh Lydia, say have you met Lydia,
Lydia, the Tattooed Lady.
She has eyes that folks adore so,
And a torso even more so.
The Wearing of the Green
I am Irish on my mother’s side and so we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day though I have never drunk green beer. Of course, the Irish ancestry is far and distant and long away because Mom’s ancestry was that wonderful American melting pot of everything from Iceland to Iraq and Russia to Romania, England to Egypt and all points in between. However, among her Irish ancestors is that great hero Brian Boru who probably did not unite Ireland, but gets credit for it anyway. However, it was not the scant trace of Irishness in me that led me to choose the Emerald version of the new Lelutka Maria dress, but just my love of green as a color – rich and deep and vibrant green.
and of course, the stunning constrution that includes this marvelously well-done sculpty two strap bodice. With the straps sculpted like this, there’s no fading, disappearing and melting strap to mar the look. My only wish was that the attachment point for the bodice had been the spine, not the chest as the chest is the most common attachment for necklaces and so I had to resit the bodice on the spine.
Group Gifts
I found a surprise in my Objects folder that said Jador Group gift and when I opened it up there was this lovely black and red rose floral lingerie. Not content to hide it under a shirt, I decided to put on a skirt and let it shine, because it really is quite lovely. To be frank, now that we have the subscrib-o-matic option, I join groups without as much thought…since they are unlimited and so long as they do not flood me with notices, I will stay and sometimes log in to bright red surprises like this one.
Antarctic Dreams
Who is going to a traditional Black & White ball for New Year’s Eve? It seems like nearly all the women dress in white – a nod to the season’s frosty weather. Many of the dresses have snowflakes and crystals to accentuate the seasonal motif. This year, though, you can have the snowflakes and stand out from the crowd in this black snowflake dress from Sascha’s Designs called Antarctica.
Dress Me Up – Gidge by Phire Zuhra

Took Me Long Enough to get Elfy – didn’t it? I’m having system issues, give me love.
So, Elfy.
Hmmm. I know some elves. And pixies of various sorts. Now, this condition is possibly only symptomatic of the elvies and pixes I know – but they are all consistently badly dressed. I’m not kidding. I wonder sometimes, if they don’t rock the BIAB clothes out of the role play sims and keep some fantastic costumes that I never get to see while fully into their Elf role play. Continue reading
