Tropicana

Tropicana

By Cajsa Lilliehook.

Thursday night I was DJ’ing for a party at our Photo Studio and wanted a hot little outfit for dancing.  I had recently purchased a cute little sundress from SeVan and really wanted to wear that gorgeous yellow print, but wasn’t in the mood for a dress, so I decided to wear the top. I added the oh-so-versatile Shiny Shiny Magic Pants that I can tint to any color and tinted them the blue in the top’s print. They didn’t meet up perfectly so I tossed on one of the sashes from the Fat Pack from Persona. But it looked unfinished to me. Then I remembered this gorgeous shrug jacket from Digit Darkes in bright yellow. No, I didn’t put on the jacket, I just put on the sleeves, making them look like they were part of the SeVan top. Mixing and matching is so much easier in Second Life. Can you imagine doing that in real life? More photos on my flickr

Am I Blue?

posted by Gidge Uriza
Picking something to wear for my first night hostessing in a while was a fun reason to rifle through my inventory to find something I haven’t worn yet. I knew I wanted to wear something nice without over dressing too much and that’s when I stumbled into one of my favorite freebie dresses.

We're The Bomb

posted by Gidge Uriza

Ever buy something JUST so you’d have an excuse to take a cool picture? When I was putzing around Digit Darkes looking for shoes the other day I remembered that Freestyle had done a post about Aleri Darkes (located conveniently next door) having men’s bomber jackets on sale for $L1.
I quickly shot Cajsa a note, telling her we should get the jackets and to a tough girl shoot – just for fun.

Spies and Secret Lives

Spies and Secret Lives

Maht, my partner, loves to organize his sets around a theme. Tonight, he played espionage music such as Secret Agent Man and theme songs from Mission Impossible and James Bond interspersed with songs about secrets and secret lives. I wanted to dress the part and while shopping on Saturday i saw this little number at Bolero Collection aptly names Super Sexy and immediately thought of Mata Hari – or should I say Mahta Hari?

I tried out several hair styles and hair ornaments, but nothing made me happy and i didn’t feel like running out and buying a hair ornament in the middle of dressing, so I decided to tint the Daphne Formal Hair from Amrita that originally came with white pearls and feathers. First I edited the entire hair to darken it by clicking on the texture tab and tinting it with the dark gray preselect. Clicking the black would simply flatten all the textures, but you can retain them by using the grey. Then I chose the select texture button and selected all the pearl and feather pieces and tinted it gold. To get this particular shared, I used an RGB of 200:165:80 in case you want to try replicating that shade.

To honor the nipple tassels and the lovely lace bow on the back, I chose the Digit Darkes black and gold Elphaba shoes with the bow on the back of the heel. Jewelry from Paper Couture and DeLa completed the outfit. You can see more photos on my Flickr. Additional photo showing the back ribbon and style notes after the jump.

In A Lucky Chair

While Shopping Digit Darkes

Letter G Rang Out

– Gidge Uriza

I won this dress back in the day when Digit Darkes store was known as X3D and she HAD a lucky chair. I was a really new player, following around my linden rich friends when suddenly the lucky chair called out “G”. My friends said “GO!” and so I did, not knowing what I was doing.
By luck alone, I had just won a dress I had been admiring on the wall. I couldn’t believe my luck.

But also being a new player, I didn’t know how to adjust the skirt properly, and my big SL butt was constantly sticking through the belt. So I relegated it to my inventory, sad that I had this lovely dress I couldn’t figure out how to wear. Continue reading

Polka Dotty

Polka Dots

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

Polka dots are such fresh and lively prints. Just putting on one polka dot item will wake you up almost as much as a cappuccino, but imagine the effect of layering polka dots on polka dots with your accessories. In this outfit, I even feel ready to tackle my laundry.

This starts with one of the several freebie tops in Baiatrice’s April Free Gift (still there if you hurry.) However, I am not fond of kneepants – especially golfing style knee pants, so i add the lovely Developer pants from Digit Darkes. Honestly, these pants are so richly textured, that you might find yourself stroking your monitor. To top it off, I added on of the indispensable Helena sashes from Persona – a massive fat pack of jacket layer sashes that you can wear with hundreds of outfits.

It's the shoes, always the shoes.

Black & Gold

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

After a few days in Paper Couture, I felt like something a bit more casual. Pairing a blouse with a black skirt is as simple as it comes, but then, it felt blah…so to wake it up I dug out the Elpheba shoes from Digit Darkes. Shoes like that could free a straightjacket and wake up a corpse shroud. More photos on my Flickr

Paper Couture's Rosette

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

Oh goodie! Another photo contest for which I procrastinated to the end. Of course, this one is for Paper Couture whose clothes I have been remixing lately. One day I will remix this one, too, but don’t be holding our breath for it.So, I need to choose a photo by tomorrow. This session I was feeling goofy and this dress made me feel even more playful so I kind of went astray with the photo shoot. I took a few conventional shots like the one above at the end in case I lose my nerve.

Opheila @ VersaillesThis session got off to the weird start after I opened this new beta skin from Free Speerit. It has tears – not the mascara dripping down your face tears, but subtle drops of fluid that slid gently down the cheeks. Tears, not a mask. The other element going into my thought process was the whimsy of wearing that ridiculous Madame Pompadour hair – the Queen of Roses. Tears, pre-revolutionary hair and a super frilly dress, where better to shoot than Versailles.

Falling in the fountainfountainBut the lag!!!! I tried walking and promptly fell in the fountain. So I decided I had to leave. I was not really going to succeed when it took 5 minutes to circle my avatar or 3 minutes to zoom a bit closer. So no more last days of Marie Antoinette, but first, I took the time to snap some shots in the fountain. Continue reading

Red Azalea Dress

RPint Dres

Posted by Cajsa Lilliehook

Frilly, feminine, pink…I love it and paired these incredible shoes from Digit Darkes. I always feel happy when I wear these shoes. They’re called Marie Antoinette, but that’s a mistake. Wearing these doesn’t make you feel headless, just lighter than air.

Paper Couture Challenge

p.c. challenge

Okay, the official meme about Paper Couture is “Lovely, but I wouldn’t want to live there.”  That’s not truly fair. Yes, their clothes are a bit avant garde and maybe a tad outre, but you can live in them if you use your imagination. Think of this as the House of Lu’s gift to you, forcing you to move beyond folder-dressing and wearing pre-packaged outfits.  Paper Couture wants you to be more than a clothes hanger and become a fashionista.

So, here’s my remix of the top of the Romantic Soliloquy top. In the flickr photo set you can see I also played around with adding and removing the leg o’mutton sleeves. I can see this top with the velvet skirts from Zagoskin, the tight classic pants from Armidi, with Digit Darkes Developer Pants – the black brocade. Oh, and Digit Darkes has a colored jacket with puff sleeves that might look lovely over the lower layer.  Just because I am not wearing that hoop skirt frame that comes with it, doesn’t mean I can’t wear it a dozen different way.
