It ain't Foggy Bottom!

I am not sure what the creators of the US Capitol sim were trying to say with all the fog rising from the steps leading up to the Capitol. Are they implying that our Congress is so full of hot air from meaningless speeches and grandstanding that fog rises right out of the sidewalk?  Perhaps it’s a reference to the Foggy Bottom neighborhood, but that’s the State Department, not Congress. (For non-American readers, Washington DC was quite brilliantly built on a swamp)

Whatever their intent, my intent was to look sharp when I went to visit Congress, so I grabbed a lovely suit from DeGroot Casuals.

At Hollow Forest: Quick Look

Didn’t get this posted before leaving for work, so this will be a quick one. Shot at the Hollow Forest sim, a place that makes me hear “Born on the Bayou” in my head.  Features jeans and a sweater from Ibizarre and shoes from Maitreya – good hiking and exploring clothes that are sturdy and wear well.

Yippee Ki-Yay - M*ther-F*cker!

When Alice07 Barzane announced that the Peppermint Blue 1 Year Anniversary Party was going to be a Western Theme……I knew where I was going to turn. While I LOVE the fun of just hunting up stuff via search (I actually do) – looking up stores I might not have heard of etc to see what they have, I’d been looking for a reason to pick up WASTELAND COWGIRL from Bare Rose for quite a while.

I don’t normally look for a reason to pick up clothes, but this kind of falls into the “Costume” milieu of my closet and I don’t generally just collect costumes without cause. Yet, from the instant I saw this one on Phil’s place posted by Tori….I knew I wanted it. Pink Leather Chaps?!?! PLEASE! Continue reading

Feathers

New skin from Gala Phoenix: Sari with freckles

Sometimes the beauty of a dress is so self-evident that any attempt to describe it merely detracts from your pleasure in seeing the designer’s marriage of art and design and her balancing of the challenges of phantom flexi-prims with the demands of fashion.  The Kungler Couture Passion of the Black Swan dress by AvaGardner Kungler is exactly that sort of dress.  This is a dress that can take your breath away, so just sit back and enjoy the ride.

The fires of passion frame your face with feathers.

A panache of fire and black plumes frame your face together with the silver needles and thread of the old song, The Black Swan by Giancarlo Menotti.

Black Swan

The sun is falling and it lies in blood
The moon is weaving bandages of gold
Old black swan where oh where is my lover now
Where oh where is my lover now

Reflections of The Love You Took From Me

Reflections of The Love You Took From Me

Through the mirror of my mind
Time After Time
I see reflections of you and me………

Happiness you took from me
And left me alone

With only memories

This new Reflections Dress from Digit Darkes is so elegant yet so overpoweringly sentimental, I immediately started singing the old Supremes song when I put it on. This is a dress for a night of elegance and romance.  I am wearing “Festival” and the name belies the depth of the dress.  It’s bold feathery skirt and elegant feminine bodice are a visual contrast that is even more emphasized by the drop waist. Under the bamboo tree

I made a lovely visit to the Gion sim this weekend and found this gorgeous walkway through a stand of bamboo. I could not resist stopping for some photos. Luckily I was dressed for shooting in this lovely high-waisted ruched skirt from Little Rebel and lovely ruffled top from Frangipani Designs.

Oh playmate, come out and play with me

Now if we moved this shelf over there and that shelf over here...

Looking at the last few posts, you might think my weekend was long on glamour and formal occasions which is far from the truth considering the one big event I planned to attend, I missed by dilly-dallying. Speaking of dilly-dallying – here’s one of the places I dallied a lot this weekend, The Hollow Forest. More specifically, the children’s room in the house there.  As soon as I saw it I thought of the old song.

Oh playmate, come out and play with me
And bring your dollies three.
Climb up my apple tree,
Look down my rain barrel
Slide down my cellar door
And we’ll be jolly friends forever more.

Me n' My Droogs Can't Make Up our Rassoodocks What To Do

posted by Gidge Uriza

I originally had a mind to write this entire post a la A Clockwork Orange but figured many of you might poke out your minds eye trying to translate Alex’s lingo. I also thought that I might poke out my own brain trying to DO the translation, so decided to let it go.

I’ve been looking for something to wear with these excellent boots of Miffy’s (disclosure – from my shop Don’t Ask) and while doing the car wash shoot the other night, Cajsa and I wandered into Go Ask Alice and I spied these cargo shorts……and a light went off.  WIth prim pocket attachments for a more authentic worn pocket look I’m in love with these. Slouchy, casual, comfortable, and just perfect for a night of ULTRA-VIOLENCE if you ask me. Continue reading

Reflections in the Starlight

When I first took this dress from Digit Darkes out of the box, it made me think of stars twinkling among the scudding clouds ona moonlit night. The sky is seldom black when the moon and clouds are out, clear nights give you black skies, but those cloudy nights the sky can be the color of pewter. So, I designed to shoot this dress in the clouds – which is the material Digit must have used to spin this dress – it floats like a cloud.
