Don’t you just love serendipity? I not only love it when it happens, I love the sound of the word. It has a joyful, lucky sound to it – which is how I felt while putting away some shopping last night. I confess this SLurl project has been a budget buster as I frequently get sidetracked and end up actually shopping while I test the landmarks. I have several different options to show you with this outfit, but first let me talk about the shoes. From H&U, these lovely ribbon sandals come in several color combinations that perfectly complement so many outfits. I have other sandals, but these are amazingly well-made. For the mix-and-matcher, the wonderfully flexible color combinations in the sandals are a strong complement to many outfits. To be frank, the shoes were the starting point for the outfit.
I started the outfit off with the Novocaine Frayed Top in green and brown (the jungle option) and matched that with leather pants from Adam n Eve. There’s nothing like a storm starting just as you leave the office to catch a bus home after working late into the evening to bring on a pity party. Fortunately, my outfit was just too cute for pity. Combining Honey Kitty and Schaudenfreude (just love that combination of words), I felt almost perky about the rain. I was wearing the brown Revenant outfit from Schaudenfreude, which makes up the skirt and corset here. The blouse was a lovely light brown, sleeveless top, but it had a skull pin at the neck. I just am not into skulls for clothing except maybe on Halloween, so I decided to wear another blouse. I had this delicious cream blouse from Honey Kitty in my closet – a blouse with loving attention to detail on the collar and cuff prims. Continue reading

When I want to feel sexy I first reach for my lingerie drawer because no matter what I am wearing, if my lingerie is beautiful and flattering, I feel sexy from the inside out. I want to feel the soft, delicate silk against my skin. It doesn’t matter who else sees it, I know it’s there and it makes me feel good. I came across a marvelous lingerie store today that cracked my no-spending-today resolve in a heartbeat. It’s called Carnal and it’s doubly dangerous because not only is it a store in SL, but it’s also a store in RL. Yes, if you love those panties, you can have them in both worlds. Uh-oh!

You can imagine how bewildered I was when Silo told me to buy a pretty dress because we were going to have a fancy SL date. I mean, BONUS – an excuse for shopping. But being married in RL means that we don’t spend a lot of time doing the “romance” stuff in SL. Plus the fact that he spends about 99% of his time in SL as a little robot AV.
His instructions were simple. Buy something VERY fancy. We were going to a very fancy place that required reservations. Cajsa and I ran the gauntlet of elegant stores but wouldn’t you know I went back and bought the first dress I had run into. I had first thought of going to DeGroot because I had picked up a gown for my Christmas Ball there and was WOWED by the loveliness and detail of it. And of course I now had a perfect reason to pick up those Elphaba heels from Digit Darkes I’d been coveting but they just seemed so FANCY I couldn’t ever figure out what to wear it with.
My only question when picking out this dress, then, was WHICH COLOR? It came in several but I settled on Teal. There is a wide variety of colors available, you can find them in world or on SLX. You can see the rest of the shoot here on my flickr page.

This just appeals to me. I love the antique brown and the lovely lace details. Maht might say it’s because if it’s brown, I am bound to love it, but that’s not true. The bodice is lovely and the lace on the sleeves is perfect and isn’t this a soft, gentle shade of brown – very feminine, I think. More photos on Flickr

Okay, the official meme about Paper Couture is “Lovely, but I wouldn’t want to live there.” That’s not truly fair. Yes, their clothes are a bit avant garde and maybe a tad outre, but you can live in them if you use your imagination. Think of this as the House of Lu’s gift to you, forcing you to move beyond folder-dressing and wearing pre-packaged outfits. Paper Couture wants you to be more than a clothes hanger and become a fashionista.
So, here’s my remix of the top of the Romantic Soliloquy top. In the flickr photo set you can see I also played around with adding and removing the leg o’mutton sleeves. I can see this top with the velvet skirts from Zagoskin, the tight classic pants from Armidi, with Digit Darkes Developer Pants – the black brocade. Oh, and Digit Darkes has a colored jacket with puff sleeves that might look lovely over the lower layer. Just because I am not wearing that hoop skirt frame that comes with it, doesn’t mean I can’t wear it a dozen different way.

This is the lovely Romantic Soliloquy. Yes, I admit it, I am not wearing that skirt anywhere. It’s not me to run around showing my panties. Even super duper pretty panties. Even bloomers. Just not me. But oh, that bodice. I would buy that skirt twice over to have that lovely bodice.
