You Scream, I Scream

We all scream for ice cream. I know this dress for the Fashion Designer Challenge is inspired by clowns and circuses and that is very evident in the collar, but when I look at it, it makes me think of summer days and waffle cones. This is an ice cream sundae of a dress with a little vanilla, chocolate, strawberry all on a waffle cone. And like that cone, it’s absolutely scrumptious.

Baloonies

Dove Swanson has made an AO that will lift your spirit and your avatar in more ways than one. First, it’s a Relay For Life item so your purchase price will help that great cause. Secondly, it’s a fun Animation Override that is full of whimsy and a playful spirit and as for the last, look at the picture.  To show it off, I wanted an equally whimsical dress so chose this one from KA Designs.

Truth in Advertising

So I wandered over to the Floydian Continent (well, they’re working on it) to Tenshi Vielle’s CRAP Boutique conveniently located next to Fresh Trash. Sorry, but late night shopping can be a giggle fest. Tenshi doesn’t have a huge inventory, but the work is creative, witty and hand-drawn so I thought I might show you a couple CRAP outfits, just because the name cracks me up. However, as far as truth in advertising goes, good thing there’s no law that says the name has to reflect the merchandise.

Quick Look: Diapop & &bean

Here’s a cute  casual outfit perfect for chilling out with friends at The Velvet or running about shopping. The top is from &beans, comes on multiple layers and has an option to wear without the lacy ruffles on the neck. The pants are from Diapop. Now Diapop makes some adorable tops and if they would only make them on all layers and long enough to tuck in, my budget would be in serious trouble.  If you don’t mind crop tops and single layer tops (and many folks don’t) you should check out how cute they are. You can get an idea just from these adorable pants.  The flats are from Shiny Things – and I lurve them.

So you want to be a fairy princess? Part 6 of I♥EC Week

In the fairy world, little girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice. Lush Lace

The fabulous cutwork and needle lace in Ivalde’s Kianne black dress is so intricate and lush that it reminds me of another era when clothing was well-made as a matter of course because people expected it to last. Having gone through a Depression and the war and war rationing, people invested in clothing and bought clothing that would last. The diametric opposite of the majority of clothing sold today with prints that are merely stamped on one side, not woven into the fabric and with narrow surger seams that tack clothing together with cheap plastic thread, ready to come undone in a heart beat. Grandchildren raiding our closets for finds from the past will have slim pickings.  Thankfully, in Second Life contemporary clothing won’t come apart at the seams and vintage clothing continues to reign in unfaded splendor.

Leaping Leopards

Animal prints are ever more popular – in both lives – and this lovely cocktail dress from PinUp Dolls is an expert and elegant use of leopard print in a dress. Just enough to add pop and zest, but not enough to add even a scintilla of skankiness.

It’s much better to go all out on the leopard with the lingerie, like this from Reasonable Desires, where you really want to show your wild side.

The Cuteness Olympics

If you want to enter the Cuteness Olympics, be sure to go to Shirohato which must surely be certified as the official cuteness supplier for the Olympics. Today’s entry consists of a lovely babydoll called Petite Oiseu or Little Bird, an apt name with the lovely little birds on the skirt.

It was a dark and stormy night

As the April 15th deadline nears for this year’s Bulwer-Lytton contest, I thought I might encourage you to check out the web site. It’s an annual award for bad writing and by bad writing, I mean really bad writing.  I was reading the 2008 results and laughing and thought you all might enjoy a good laugh, too, so I decided to shoot this great jacket and pants from Ibizarre in a “dark and stormy night” setting.  Ibizarre had a 10L sale on everything on the second floor and not one to resist a great sale, I found myself on a mad, but inexpensive, shopping spree. The black and white print jacket is beautifully made and the striking Fitzgerald belt from Lelutka really sets it off.
