We Should Be Dancing

We should be dancing…and we will be tonight at MDR Photo Studio, a bash to celebrate our first six months. To celebrate, we will be giving away four photo sessions to lucky guests. Since I won’t have much time to get ready before the party, I thought I would choose my outfit this morning and decided to go with a few things I love.  For as many times as they have appeared in one color or another, regular readers know I love, luv, lurve the Trixie Cami from Celestial Studios. Feeling in the pink, so to speak, I chose the pink one, Smooch. Continue reading

Collars & Carrouels

I wish I knew the meaning of the word carrouel – the name of these wonderful sculpted pants from Ce Cubic Effect – so I would know whether my blog title made any sense whatsoever. They are lovely and functional sculpted pants that keep their form while you walk and while you dance. They also come with a dramatic flowing belt scarf. The drama and flair of the pants called out for something equally dramatic to balance them and so I opted for wearing Bianca Foulon’s marvelous Black Collar. Shai Delacroix’s well textured and understated cashmere sweater make a great foil for the more dramatic elements in the outfit. Continue reading

Roses in Denmark

I wandered around Denmark yesterday, looking at the lighthouse, the ships and the village. It was a lovely sim and they had beautiful weather while I was there, with just a light breeze. Luckily, I was wearing a light sweater and was perfectly comfortable. ; )

I layered a baby pink cotton camisole with a lightweight rose pink one-button sweater and a lovely red and pink gingham skirt. The lovely Sasy Marakesh Passion Sandals were a perfect match. What really made the outfit though was the rose flower necklace from chicoco, set off with earrings from DeLa and bangles from VG Republic. For additional photos you can check my Flickr. Chocolate Swing

Don’t you just love jackets? I certainly do, from short crop jackets to flowing swing jackets and every stop in between, I love them all. Frankly, I love them best when they swing open, unzipped and unbuttoned, so that I can enjoy the layering of my clothes. Here using the underwear layer for my cami and the jacket layer for the jacket, I  could have even added a vest or other top over, but that would not have suited the light gauzy fabric of this marvelous jacket from pop feel. For more photos, check my Flickr.

pop feel makes 5 of these jackets in different shades and prints and they are a wonder. Floaty and light, they really swing when you walk. Fair warning, though, I did have to do a fair amount of prim editing to get the jacket’s drapery to fit right – not just stretching it a bit, but also, moving individual prims that did not lay quite right on me and it was clearly fitted to a smaller avatar shape. Of course, having to adjust the flexi-prim is fairly common and it was not too difficult. And it was definitely worth the effort.  Continue reading

Glam It Up for Shopping

So I decided to go check out Viva la GLAM, eager to see what they have done. I decided to fortify myself before heading out to the sim, just as a sensible shopper has a snack before going to the grocery store. So, I dressed and accessorized and all round glammed up. Not that this stopped me from going downright silly when I saw the great necklaces and bangles at Viva la GLAM, but I tried.

I started out with a lovely pink dress from Pink, formerly SeVan, called Tessa. I don’t know if you have been to SeVan, but if you haven’t, it’s a treat. The clothes are arranged by color there – and for some reason, I just love seeing all the reds and all the greens in their groups. I added the Tropical Heels from Digit Darkes that I picked up at the RFL Fashion Expo last weekend and the luscious Glam Earrings from creamshop. You can get them in several colors. Believe it or not, the set comes with an even more massive set of earrings.

Calypso

Oh, I do love the new Calypso dresses from Mimikri!!! Not only are the luscious and colorful and flirty, but the flouncy construction of the prim skirt allows you to sit and not lose your skirt.  There’s lovely jeweled detailing along the neckpiece and the dress flows softly while skimming your body. It’s a keeper! It’s oh-so-chic styling also demanded an ultra-chic shoe so I dug out my Silver-Studded Pumps from Stiletto Moody. Admittedly, they are a bit glam for many outfits, but for this, they fit perfectly. I was feeling lazy tonight, so I just lazed on one of the trees in my back yard for the snaps. Look Like Gold

You look like gold to me, and I’m not too blind to see.
Oh, you look like gold.
Said, you look like gold.

And you make me want to sing with all the joy you bring.
Oh, you look like gold.
Oh, you look like gold.

Like the rays down from the sun when a new day has just begun.
You look like gold.
You look like gold.   (Ben Harper)

The moment I saw this dress, these lyrics from Ben Harper popped into my head and stuck. Oh, they stuck!!! Adam and Eve are geniuses at making fluid fabrics that shimmer and shine. Wearing this Snakeskin Gold dress of theirs is like wearing liquid gold. So of course, I dug into my gold jewelry to accessorize, mixing earrings and bangles from DeLa with the perfect gold texture of the Kraftika necklace #112. Yes, I know I wear it a lot. That’s because it’s the Goldilocks of gold – not too brassy, not too bright, not too dull, it’s just right. Speaking of just right – those Glamour Metallic Pumps from Detour are also just right. The water spray from the falls obscures their sheen a bit, but for a perfectly balanced gold, you can’t find better. For more photos, see my Flickr. Continue reading

Play That Funky Music

Wednesday night’s MDR Studio party theme was Play That Funky Music and so I needed a great dance dress that recalled the bright spirit and joy of Funk. This Vertical dress in citrus from Adam and Eve fit the bill nicely – it’s sheen reminiscent of the 70’s love affair with shiny fabric/ With a contemporary flair to the skirt and up to the minute accessories from Earthtones and DeLa, I felt I could have that funkadelic spirit and stay in my own time, so to speak.  I could wear an outfit, not a costume.

If you go out in the woods today…

I went for a walk in the woods today and thought this lovely floral challis dress suited my mood perfectly. From ACgirl, It’s actually a babydoll, but I lowered the skirt prim to better suit my preference for dresses with a waist. The woods were lovely, dark and deep… but thankfully I could teleport so it was a quick trip home.

Butterflies Are Free

Some of these butterflies are free – a freebie from Baiastice. When I put this lovely, whimsical dress from Biana F on, it struck my how similar in color intensity and detail the butterflies and flowers were to the darling gift from Baiastice and I wondered if they would suit as well as I imagined. Well, I will let you judge for yourself, but I liked it. I liked it even more when I tossed on MiaSnow Myriam’s delicate and fragile Black Dahlia skin. I admit I would not wear it everywhere, but for the right party – I think it’s a great combination.

You can see more photos on my flickr. A more conventional accessorizing of the dress and style notes are after the jump.
