I Went to Wretched Hollow

I read in New World Notes that Wretched Hollow was one of the most popular sims on Koin-Up last week, so I popped over to see why. Well, it’s bucolic with a dash of the mystical. It even has a glass conservatory. What’s not to photograph. Since it was such a romantic scene, I decided to shoot this romantic flowered dress from sonatta morales. I made it slightly more romantic than the original intent by editing the texture just a tiny bit – making the skirt semi-sheer instead of opaque.

Who's a Groovy Girl?

posted by Gidge Uriza

This is my only mystery hair from the Hair Fair. I shot this a while back, and then forgot it’s name. I spent days hunting for it – looking through all Cajsa’s pics and I just couldn’t figure it out! WHAT IS IT I shrieked to the heavans. No one answered. And then searching in my inventory last night I found it – it was a FREEBIE at the Hair Fair from Groovy Girl! Continue reading

Big Bad Blogger Challenge #3

Alice Chenaux now asks us: You’ve been given a sim of your very own to use for free for one year. However, there are 3 rules. It cannot be residential, it cannot be commercial, and it has to be open to the public. What do you do with it?

Mimikri takes the art of flirty feminity to a new level with Sina.

Mimikri takes the art of flirty feminity to a new level with Sina.

Well, that’s easy. I would make a photo park like what most of the MDR sim was except for the part that was the studio. There were sections with foliage and weather for each part of the year, an underwater sunken ship and underwater volcano, there was a beach, a corn field, three different waterfalls and all sort of box sets up in the sky. It was a photographer’s dream. A dream that poofed. Luckily there are still wonderful places to shoot all about the grid including Ode where the photo above was taken.

Big Bad Blogger Challenge #2

Alice Chenaux now asks us to describe the perfect day in SL. That’s so hard because different days I want different things from SL, but a day filled with my favorite things would include shooting an outfit or two for the blog, chatting  or styling or shooting with Gidge or going with her to a party and some time chatting with Maht and listening to him play some music. Add a little exploring of a new sim and you have a perfect day and a fairly common Sunday.

As to the dress, this is from DYN – another shop on My Little List – and  I love the explosion of color at the hem.

Big Bad Blogger Challenge Post #1

Alice Chenaux has kicked of the Big Bad Blogger Challenge and I thought why not? The first question is: How long have you been a blogger? How has it enriched your life?

I started my blog on January 1st, 2008 and posted a couple of times and then had no idea what to do, how to get someone else to read it. So it languished for a few months while I began reading the blogs more carefully and learning more about SL fashion. The real start of my blog was in April of 2008 and with Gidge and myself, we have somehow managed to post more 1100 helping of rainbow poop since then.

My life has been enriched by the new friendships I have made thanks to the blog. Not just friendships with designers, jewelers, models, stylists and bloggers, but also with readers who have commented and gone on to IM me in-world. I also have found the challenge of styling a good outfit or making a good photo shoot very fulfilling.

Inconveniently Undead

posted by Gidge Uriza

I’m a very socially active girl. You can imagine my distress when I woke up one evening FAR after my normal waking time, to discover myself among the Undead!  This was clearly going to put a crimp in my entertaining and social schedule!

Or was it? I decided right then and that I’d just have to accept Vampire as part of my new look and go about my business as normal. After all, I I have entertaining to do!

And – buffets to dust!

I find myself a bit more full of whimsy and giddy-ness since I’ve joined the Undead. Perhaps it’s simply a symptom of being Nouveau Undead and I’ll settle down with time. After all, it just doesn’t seem appropriately somber to be this exuberant AND Undead! Continue reading

Salut to Neferia and The Art of the Party Dress

posted by Gidge Uriza

There is a very short list of creators who make what I call “traditional party dresses” of high quality. I have always counted on Ivalde to supply me with a good deal of my inventory in this category, I suppose because it was the 1950s in my last life? Continue reading

Oleanna

Now, this dress is as far in spirit from the white Odelia dress in my last post as the Norwegian song I will share in this post is from Tryggare kan ingen vara. This is a hot, sultry dress promising the the world  just as the old Norwegian song Oleanna promised the emigrants who left for America. It’s the Norwegian version of the Big Rock Candy Mountain – in spirit. And this dress is as rich in promise.

This time the English and Norwegian versions are done together.

Tryggare kan ingen vara

As many of you have already learned, Neferia Abel is leaving Second Life for several months while  she moves, fulfills her dream of illustrating a children’s book and recovers her health.  An ambitious set of goals and I am sure each and every one of us wish her success in every one and hope for her speedy return. Like many others, I will share a couple favorites today, but first I want to share a  lovely song that suits this heavenly dress and will most likely be familiar to Neferia since there is so much cross-cultural sharing between Norwegians and Swedes. It was my father’s favorite hymn. He was Swedish and it was sung at his funeral – and to perfectly frank, at every funeral on that side of the family. Sometimes I think it’s the only Swedish song everyone still remembers besides Oleanna and Nikolina (believe me they are NOT funeral appropriate.)
