Elysium Surprises

Elysium Elide whose blog Photographing SL is familiar to all of us who read the feeds has begun making clothing. She brings to her clothing the same quality and artistry that sets her blog apart from most. Her store, Elymode, opened Friday and the clothing is beautifully made and surprising conservative and wearable anywhere and everywhere. I have to express just a bit of surprise that there are no breast-baring options. ;P

I really fell for the Leafy skirt, top and cardigan. The details are subtle and well-planned to keep the clothing suitable for mixing and matching. The fabric is deceptively simple, but zoom close and see the attention to the weave that gives the solid colors depth and luster.

How Do You Know I Like It?

posted by Gidge Uriza

Well, personally I’d say the fact that I just wore this outfit for four days is a good sign. Despite the fact that I bought clothes, slipped in and out of this and that and styled several things to wear LATER……I kept pulling this back on when going out and about to do more shopping.

I think that means I like it. Continue reading

Hooray For Moddable Prims!

posted by Gidge Uriza

Creator Tenshi Vielle made me very happy when I tried on her new Georgianna dress. You see, I’m pretty much D-O-N-E with these kind of hot little dresses that never have modable prims. It makes me NUTS not being able to adjust that prim piece TO my big old pixel frame.

I’m tall. I’m a little hippy (not much) and well – your prims don’t FIT me. Continue reading

Party All Night Long

I wore this Friday night – the evening of Bandana Day and dutifully wore it with a bandana even though I went to the grand opening party of the new Naive store. I really enjoyed the dance which was dj’ed by Summer Deadlight who worked the playlist with humorous little sets of songs that kept the party mood light, happy and a bit antic. I thought it might be declasse to wear something by someone else to the Naive party, but then realized that of course it was not. So I wore this love party dress from Modern Gypsy. He’s just released a new collection, though when I ran over to check it out, what’s the first thing that caught my eye? This little number from his last collection.  Oh well, I don’t mind being trailing edge fashion when it looks this hot and is this perfect for a dance party. Continue reading

Dorothy Day

I cannot resist hair named after a real life hero – and most particularly I cannot resist hair named after a real life hero that is as gorgeous as this. I put it together with a practical outfit that the real Dorothy Day would have felt comfortable wearing.  She may have been a reformer, an activist, a world-changer, but she also was a beautiful woman. The foundation for this look is the perfectly lovely and stunningly executed Anoorea skirt from MichaMi.  I dithered over what jacket to wear, and chose the one from TOSL for it’s chunky, handknit homemade look.  That had me looking for a lilac shirt and this one from Zaara was made to order.

NomNomNom

So, by the time I signed on last night I was already late for the masquerade party so it was either go as I was or go even later in a costume, so I went with what I was wearing. All the men were dashing and all the women were dazzlings or so I imagine as they all stayed as vapor for me. What rezzed was the food and I took that as a I sign and grabbed a spoon and ate my way through the party.

Designer Showcase Network

I love those people who see recurring issues and debates like the freebie debate – all heat and no light – that recycle frequently without resolution and instead of adding their two cents, sit back and break the problem down and proactively search for an alternative. Rika Watanabe is just that sort of person. She looked at the whole freebie/hunt/entitlement/hoohah/blah/blah and proposed a solution – The Designer Showcase Network. You can subscribe any of the nine channels that interest you and receive a daily promotional item from a designer producing work in that channel. The channels are Animations and Poses, Business Tools and Services, Female Fashion, Gadgets, Vehicles and Weapons, Home and Garden, Jewelry and Accessories, Male Fashion, Skins and Hair and Full Avatars.

For designers, this lets them expose their content to new potential customers. For customers, well it’s one to nine freebies per day depending on your interests. This post is actually about how this leads to sales. Last night I opened up a DSN freebie from Miss Muffet and tried it on. It was an adorably cute little lavendar dress that had Gidge calling me Bo Peep. It was cute, well made and not my style. However, I liked the quality and the wit so I decided to follow the landmark in the folder and check it out. I immediately saw that is was a store Achariya would love and im’ed her with a “check it out” landmark and then saw a dollarbie that would be perfect for  Gidge’s freestyle blogging and bought a sweater and this fabulous pants out above for myself. Gidge also bought the dollarbie and an outfit I am sure you will see soon – complete with – erm, I better let her suprise you. So…one item that I deleted… but interesting and good enough that it got me to the store and had me sending LM’s to two others. It’s a win-win.

You Scream, I Scream

We all scream for ice cream. I know this dress for the Fashion Designer Challenge is inspired by clowns and circuses and that is very evident in the collar, but when I look at it, it makes me think of summer days and waffle cones. This is an ice cream sundae of a dress with a little vanilla, chocolate, strawberry all on a waffle cone. And like that cone, it’s absolutely scrumptious.
