Winter Wheat

I guess because I grew up next to the Red River Valley of the North, whenever I see the phrase winter white my mind thinks of winter wheat. It’s a form of wheat that’s planted in the fall, needing the cold to flower. Of course, sometimes the winter is too hard and it kills off the crop, but then farming is possibly the only form of gambling legal in every country of the world.  Now I would not wear these Novocaine winter white pants on the farm – but this truly is a perfect farm girl goes to town outfit, after all they are officially called City Slacks.

Giving Thanks & Surviving Family Dinner

Today is one of America’s big holiday when we drug ourselves into comas with overdoses of tryptophan and melatonin and sheer gluttony. This ensures a good night’s sleep for the biggest shopping day of the year on Friday – and the kick off of the official Christmas shopping season, my least favorite time of year thanks to steamrolling crowds of crazed shoppers and blaring music at all the stores playing the same songs ad infinitum. But today, today is a day to be thankful that the stores are closed and we can spend some time with friends, family and good food.

While my mother was alive, we never had less than 40 people for Thanksgiving because if just my 5 siblings and their children came, we hit 40. But then, she invited every widow, widower and other solitary person and anyone else she could think of so the numbers often swelled to 70 or more.  Yay for big houses and miles of forest to play in. So, in order to survive in a fashionable sense, I followed some rules.

Foggy Bottom

I suppose since this was not shot at the State Department, Foggy Bottom is a bad name, but it’s what comes to mind. This is actually shot right behind MDR’s studio on our new sim in the Autumn section. In Autumn you can find corn and wheat fields, a wooded forest of fall color or this spooky, scary little bit of mossy, foggy bottomland which I thought a perfect setting for a dress called the Burton dress. From True La La, the Burton dress is suitably macabre for the setting.

Chupa Chup

I have no idea what Chupa Chup means, but it’s what Sissy Pessoa named this lovely dress (one I got at her half-price sale) and it sounds fun, so let’s run with it.  It’s bright colors and wild stripe pattern so reminded me of candy that when I could not remember the name while saving to disk, what my mind came up with was chuchui. It was a tad chilly so I added a shrug from Little Rebel and went with some ankle boots from Novocaine.

In the morning light…

AM Radio made some major changes at Tusk. It’s now underwater, but still beautiful and evocative. Here I am inside the little building on the pier looking out at the water and enjoying the warm sun streaming in the window. It looks like  it will be a lovely day. I hope so because I forgot to bring a jacket.

A really good shoo!

I have several different options to show you with this outfit, but first let me talk about the shoes. From H&U, these lovely ribbon sandals come in several color combinations that perfectly complement so many outfits. I have other sandals, but these are amazingly well-made. For the mix-and-matcher, the wonderfully flexible color combinations in the sandals are a strong complement to many outfits. To be frank, the shoes were the starting point for the outfit.

I started the outfit off with the Novocaine Frayed Top in green and brown (the jungle option) and matched that with leather pants from Adam n Eve. Feeling a bit frisky, I decided to wear the mischievous Lio hair style from 0 Style.  A photo without the jacket is at the end of the post. Continue reading
