It’s a very sneezy Tuesday morning, so here’s a quick look at a gorgeous top (body suit) from Baiastice with a sculpted tiered skirt from Ce Cubic Effect. The skirt is quite old and when first released, the use of sculpties was still new and exciting. However, it’s so well done it still exemplifies how well sculpties can be done.
Callie Cline released a cotton-candy sweet confection called the little glitter dress. Perfect name. It’s little, especially in length and it glitters with all the soft pastels of spring. I adore the dress and thought it was perfect for the softly romantic new Chloe skin from Exile.
Sometimes an outfit is just dreamy with soft, gentle colors – all flowing and romantic. That’s the case with this one, though the dreaminess begins with the stunning hair from BOON. The new XFE275 hair from BOON is an amazing confection that I like think came out of dreams – nice, misty dreams or roses and romance.
I have mentioned my love of polka dots before. I don’t know why, but they make me smile. No insult intended to squares and triangles and rhombi, but they just don’t press my happy button the way these lovely little round circles do. Polka dots often make me think retro and rockabilly. They make me think of Rizzo and Jive-Talkin’ and dancing the night away. Certainly this fun little set of separates from A-Bomb would have made Rizzo happy any day of the week.
Sachi Vixen sent me the sexiest little dress. In fact, it was a twofer as it comes with two options for wearing it – as a mini or as a longer, can-can style skirt. I decided to wear it as the mini so I could wear these MichaMi stockings that have to have been made for that. If not, those Sachi and Milla have some weird psychic thing going on.

Sometimes it’s fun to put an outfit together exactly backwards which is what I did with this one. I started from the outside with the Haute Style Co. jacket – part of the Paulie Dos outfit. I bought the outfit to get this jacket which is just a luscious brown with blue print. The skirt was next from Hal*Hina – the blue bolero outfit. The top is from Kookie and has made a few appearances before in other colors.
Years and years and years ago, Billy Strayhorn wrote an amazing song that has been performed by John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock, Ella Fitzgerald and Queen Latifah, Natalie and Nat King Cole and now – the Nat King Cole version has been re-engineered by Cee-lo Green. The title is Lush Life – though the lyrics are really quite sad and cynical.

But, despite the cynicism of the lyrics, the romanticism and lush beauty of the melody makes this song truly one of the great classics and a song that comes to mind when I see some truly extraordinary gown that is rich and lush with color and pattern and life – as is this Noell gown from LeeZu.
Perhaps it’s because it might be the song sung by the chanteuse on the stage at some romantic club.
Mr. Gausman of Rivier Couture sent me a little thank you for blogging awhile back. I say Mr. Gausman because he is always so formal and proper when he sends an IM that I feel I must respond in kind. Now, how that formal and proper man comes up with the hot and sexy clothing he makes is a conundrum, but then still waters do run deep, as they say. Thankfully, I do not have to resolve that enigma to enjoy the sizzling hot fashion from his house. This dress is MISTRESS and really, you should think of it as a suite. It comes with a jacket that really transforms its look, the colored shirt lies under lace and can be switched out with other colors or with a sheer black for more intimate settings. Or well, for those who are comfortable showing nipples in public, too.
The halter top has a lace back and lovely lace flourish at the neck. The cuffsare actually from Draconic Kiss but with the belted definition of the torso, the revers a lacet cuffs are just too perfect for words.
That’s what this outfit says to me. It’s a conglomeration from several pieces. The top is from a House of Nyla dress, the skirt from Handrawn Machine. the gloves from a PixelDolls dress and the socks from Reasonable Desires. The idea is not to encourage you to necessarily buy every single piece but to start thinking of dresses as potential separates and accessories as well. For example, I have a gloves folder in my accessories folder and when gloves are included in an outfit, I copy and paste a copy into my gloves folder so I have more glove options available.
