The Best Event of the Day

Sixteen hours down and ten to go! A record in SL DJing is being set today with a 26.2 hours single set by a single DJ. I know it’s a crazy idea, but it’s for a good cause, building the bottom up economy of Uganda by providing cows and goats to poor households who will, in turn, pass on the offspring to additional households. It’s the Uganda Umbrella Project of Heifer International.

Maht Wuyts is my favorite DJ and he’s playing at my favorite club, The Velvet. He plays a great mix of indie and rock music – danceable and fun and he puts together a witty playlist.

The event has several sponsors who have provided lovely gifts for all donors. In the spirit of the project, Shiryu Musashi of Musashi-Do has made a polo shirt inspired by the Uganda flag and Adelaide Ade has made everything the Heifer beekeeper would need, including the bee’s nest. The gifts are fun and eclectic – just like the music set. The largest donor also gets a free photo session with Maht Wuyts, co-founder of MDR Photo Studio.

What To Wear on a Zeppelin Ride?Nymphetamine!

posted by Gidge Uriza

There is something just so sassy about the releases I receive from Nymphetamine. I smile as they rezz. I really love the creativity and just FUN that goes into each creation.  I have no practical use for this dress yet- I sort of think that everyone should own it, just because it’s so much fun it hurts. MY GOD just look at the bustle (I’m calling it a bustle but it goes all the way around so now I’m just making up terms. I’m American. We do that.)

This dress is a classic example of the duplicity of Victorian fashion. Demure, simple and lady like fashions were extolled (see – it’s just black and white that’s simple, right?) yet the ornamentation was just over the top to make up for the subtle fabric. Continue reading

Looking Idiosyncratic

Idiosyncrasy’s Justice is a delightful skin that makes me think of the women you see in a de Lempicka painting. I love the rich, bold lipstick and eyeshadow and the strong look of this skin. It is a fundraiser skin for CARE International at the Skin Expo and a wonderful addition to any inventory.  I wore it with the multi-color jewelry from Bliensen & Maitai because it suited the lovely halter top I picked up at Different Drummer – a new to me store.

Moondance

Well it’s a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
‘Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I’m trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
You know the night’s magic
Seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight
Seems to shine in your blush…

Could I just have one more Moondance with you, my love?
Can I make some more romance with you, my love?

Oh, this dress is made for dancing in the moonlight. It catches the light and reflects the moonlight as you dance. Of course, when I wore it dancing I did take off the jacket, but this sure is the jacket to be seen in.

Rising Expectations

It’s been a while since I have blogged Phoenix Rising – and that’s unfortunate because the clothes are even more distinctive and fun. Take this lovely outfit called Motive, is there anything more fun that that lovely plaid corset with the wide sash and belt?

Ode-worthy

Hart Larsson’s long-awaited July from PXL Creations is launched today at the Skin Fair @ Vanity Universe and it’s worth the wait. This is the sort of skin that could move a poet to write an ode. It’s a masterful demonstration of how light and shadow highlight, define and create beautiful skin. It had me scrambling to recall a poem by Pablo Neruda called Ode to a Naked Beauty. Don’t get too excited, though, my photos are better suited to a poem called Ode to a Bathing Beauty. 🙂

The line of your back
separating you
falls away into paler regions
then surges
to the smooth hemispheres
of an apple,
and goes splitting
your loveliness
into two pillars
of burnt gold, pure alabaster,
to be lost in the twin clusters of your feet,
from which, once more, lifts and takes fire
the double tree of your symmetry:
flower of fire, open circle of candles,
swollen fruit raised
over the meeting of earth and ocean.

from Ode to a Naked Beauty by Pablo Neruda

Puttin' on the Ritz

There was a burst of chic goodness that flowed into the fashion stream like a waterfall last weekend. My inventory overflowed and I was adrift in choices of what to wear. But I absolutely had to wear the new COCO Tuxedo that is so gorgeous I could almost hear it singing “I feel pretty, oh so pretty…” I suppose you think clothes don’t sing, but it’s SL. They can do anything. The tuxedo jacket comes in gray and black and I wore the gray for more contrast with the black feather skirt. Feathers and Tuxedos don’t go together usually, but the skirt was humming “Putting on the Ritz” and the potential for a great fashion song mash-up should never be denied. The fab boots are from Pixel Mode – where the 50L sale just eroded all my will power and flooded my inventory with PM goodness.

Number 100: Artis Natur

When I chose the shoes for this outift I realized I was shooting the 100th Adam n Eve post and decided that it only made sense to head over to their lovely landscaped photo park to take the pictures. Artis Natur is great for photos as you can rez your posestand or use a pose hud and snap away.  I love the feeling of walking through an impressionist painting. I also love the Kunglers Jacket I chose for this outfit. It’s called Cristiana and this floral option is a beautiful ode to chinoiserie. The rich skirt is from A la Folie.
