I'll Take Mine On the Rocks

BEWARE MER-MEN AND SAILORS
THERE ARE SIRENS
ON THE ROCKS OF KOH NANA

As a former island dweller I have an ridiculous collection of beachwear – and madly enough I’m still buying. Well I do have a pool, so at least it gets used.
I had originally run over to Nicky Ree to pick up this lovely piece. But when surfing through her blog, looking at the lovelies to be had at her store and I ran into THIS . Never let it be said that I’m a freebie shopper only, my financial advisor Silo would definitely confirm this.  I instantly fell in love with the set and made a mental note to pick it up some time in the future.

Back to Black

When I met Sable Heartsdale, I knew right away she’d find her niche in SL and be a boon to anyone she worked with. She was MY boon for a short time when she was my assistant manager. Since the dissolution of that team she’s gone on to manage and now co-own the Royale Elite Gentleman’s Club .

I wanted to pop over and check out her new place but couldn’t decide what to wear. I hadn’t pulled out this sweet little prim-skirted dress from Honey Soul yet so I thought why not – it’s understated but club-kicky-fun (is that a word? No, probably not). I LOVE the detail at the straps – really sets it apart from your generic prim-skirt dress doens’t it? Continue reading

Date Night – That's What Friends Are For

posted by Gidge Uriza

You can imagine how bewildered I was when Silo told me to buy a pretty dress because we were going to have a fancy SL date. I mean, BONUS – an excuse for shopping. But being married in RL means that we don’t spend a lot of time doing the “romance” stuff in SL.  Plus the fact that he spends about 99% of his time in SL as a little robot AV.

His instructions were simple. Buy something VERY fancy. We were going to a very fancy place that required reservations. Cajsa and I ran the gauntlet of elegant stores but wouldn’t you know I went back and bought the first dress I had run into. I had first thought of going to DeGroot because I had picked up a gown for my Christmas Ball there and was WOWED by the loveliness and detail of it. And of course I now had a perfect reason to pick up those Elphaba heels from Digit Darkes I’d been coveting but they just seemed so FANCY I couldn’t ever figure out what to wear it with.

My only question when picking out this dress, then, was WHICH COLOR? It came in several but I settled on Teal. There is a wide variety of colors available, you can find them in world or on SLX. You can see the rest of the shoot here on my flickr page.

But before I give you the fashion details – I have to have a Paul Harvey moment

The REST of the Story. Continue reading

A River Runs Through It

I was briefly at a loss for what to wear when invited to Bakura for a party with a bunch of clone stormtroopers.  A good friend just resurrected from the SL dead plus a newbie friend were looking at me with excitement about going to such a fun sim so I excused myself for a few minutes to go AFK and read my notices and attachments to find something new to wear.

Imagine my delight when I noticed Aleri Darkeshad released a new babydoll cocktail dress and the red color was on sale for 24 hours. I’m never partial to a true babydoll – so I tend to slid the skirs DOWN to the waist but regardless of which way you wear it, this shimmering dress is a fun new addition to my wardrobe. Long Weekend Relax – And some EXCELLENT Freebies

posted by Gidge Uriza
I wanted to be comfy for Memorial Day and remembered that I had a slew of casual separates from WRONG – from Christmas when they gave away a gift a day. Sliding into jeans and a light cotton sweater was an quick and easy choice, especially for a day of boating or cooking out or whatever I was going to be doing. (It gets cold on boats at night you know!).

Plus I’ve been looking for an excuse to wear these Marilyn Monroe shoes I got at Artilleri – so something black seemed like a good fit!

People Were Always Crossing Rooms To Talk to Maxine

Imagine my surprise, standing at Tesla while a noob friend was figuring out the subscribe-o-matic and the freebies etc. when I got THIS IM out of nowhere.

person x: Gazes at the stunning girl in pink.

Me: Umm….what?

person X: My god you are stunning. Is this girl with you your girlfriend?

Me: Ummm…..what?

I said a lot of other really eloquent stuff like that. Clothed compulsively in pink that day, on a whim that was a couple of days old (I had been trying to pick out something to wear with that hair and not changed since), I had just run out of the house wearing what I had on to assist my friend Delilah. I’m just never THAT girl, which is why I was so surprised.

Gentlemen, Start Your Engines

The Indy 500 has always meant a lot to me. I’m a fan. Growing up in Indianpolis I looked forward to the ENTIRE month of May and all the social events that revolved around the race. When I was about 3, when my grandfather was the mayor, my grandmother won a raffle at the Mayors Breakfast event – a black and white check mink stole. Continue reading

Casual Friday

posted by Gidge Uriza
On a lazy Friday with all of my amigas tied up or not In World I decided to run the gauntlet of lucky chairs I like and my new favorite activity, running about to the places that caught my eye on Freestyle.
I slipped into a comfortable jeans outfit with vest from Bare Rose for such a casual night. The shoes needed to be comfy (lucky Chair at Tesla is set for 10 minutes!) and my Check Shoes from Bare Rose are just the ticket for very casual yet stylish footware. Continue reading

She's Got The Way To Move Me, Cherry

When I saw this outfit on Freestyle a while back I had to run to Honey Soul to pick it up.
So cute, festive and perfect for a day of roaming the hard pavement streets shopping for that next perfect accessory. I don’t normally carry purses but this sweet little cherry bag from Artilleri goes with the shoes and both match the dress – and well HOW was I supposed to not wear them all together?
I’m not sure how much more precious this outfit can get.
If I could have found a set of cherry earrings or hair bobs it might be perfect.  Continue reading

A Simple Black Skirt

posted by Gidge Uriza
You need a simple black skirt. That’s what they told me when I was new. Simple. Something that goes everywhere, with everything. Something you can wear to a casual party or a fancy dress event. Don’t squander your lindens on something that won’t work with a lot of different tops.
In short – find that perfect skirt version of the “little black dress.”
So I looked. And I looked. And I shopped. Continue reading
