More Silly Than Naive!

posted by Gidge Uriza

I love skins that have LIPS I CAN SEE (like this one) and eyeshadow that interests me. I’m not always so into the artsy eyes, but once in a while one will catch my eye. What I like most of all, though, is make up that is interesting enough to catch your eye without being garish.

RESULT!

I am afraid that the Fashion Mafia may revoke my card if I admit this aloud – but this is indeed my FIRST skin from Adam n Eve. Continue reading

Tres Jolie? It's FABULOUS!

posted by Gidge Uriza

When I lived with my best friend Laura, we were avid watchers of Absolutely Fabulous. One of our great hoots was how Edina could wear the most hideous thing, and she’s whine “It’s LA CROIX SWEETIE!” and Patsy would demur,”It’s FABULOUS.”

We’d do that to one another almost daily, peels of laughter ringing out through our roach ridden apartment.

So it’s funny to me, a bit, that when I put on anything new from Tres Jolie, my first instinct is ALWAYS – “It’s FABULOUS!” and I’m always worried people will think I mean it in that AbFab way…which couldn’t be further from the truth. Continue reading

Before I Was Broke…..I Bought More Hair

There are a handful of jewelers in SL I really like. Bliensen and MaiTai have a special place in my heart, I must confess, because they sent me the first review pack of jewelry I ever got. I still feel the damn way if they send me something, too. “OOO! ME? WHAT? You sent ME a present?”  Delight & joy, like Christmas for a grown up pixel girl.

So you can IMAGINE how perplexed I was when I found this darling necklace sitting in my inventory, and that I not only hadn’t worn it – I hadn’t SHOWN YOU!  What a doofus. Continue reading

Big Wheel Keep On Turnin'……..3 Stories about Efe

posted by Gidge Uriza

I have three stories all related to this post. The first is that from the moment I saw this dress from Casa del Shai, I HAD to have it and dress up like Tina Turner.  Why?

First Story:

When I was three my grandma asked me who was going to be for Halloween. I said I wanted to be that lady in the red dress. She smiled down at me indulgently and said,”Who?” So I said “You know – dat lady that SINGS and dances around in that red dress!” Again, thinking I’m so cute, she says “Who honey?” At which point I apparently started shaking and shimmying and belting out a three year old’s version of PROUD MARY.

Yes, I wanted to be Tina Turner.  You can imagine how well that went over in a conservative, white-bread midwestern household.  Personally I wish we had it on tape.

Best Friend Love

posted by Gidge Uriza

I used to have a different Second Life. It was full of friends and fun and parties, but it wasn’t always so good. Like so many of the Second Lives you read about in places like SCD Secrets.  But then I met a new friend, originally hired to help me out with events like the one pictured above, and below.

And what ended up happening was that we had all these great ideas, and all these really elaborate events and parties.  And we had the very best time – even when it was annoying…..it was fun to us.

But then it stopped being fun. Continue reading

Dress You Up In My Love

posted by Gidge Uriza

People shop at different places for different reasons.  I shop at Digit Darkes religiously because it was the first nice store I ever went to. I remember being in awe at how pretty the clothes were, and how amazing the shoes were. Such a step up from the freebie box crap I was wearing. Continue reading
