More Love for Zaara

How could I not fall in love with this scarf from the incomparable Zaara? First, it’s peach and that shade of peach that flatters every skin tone in the world.  Yes, there are colors that do flatter every skin tone with no reference to winter, spring, summer or fall.  They are mid-tones, neither too warm nor too cool and include eggplant, teal, true red and peach/rose.  To see how well peach works on all skin tones, you can see  15 women in peach here.

I <3 Zaara

I love scarves, love them with a passion. My closet is full of scarves from Russian wedding ring scarves to color Indian scarves, from vibrant Pucci silks to glorious handpainted Japanese scarves and everything in between. In fact, I love scarves so much I invented a way to store them so they are easily accessible and don’t get a scrunchy and wrinkled. I hung two curtain rods in my closet, one six inches above the other, and put about 100 round shower curtain rings on each one. I hang my scarves by looping them through the rings so they are all visible, neat and easy to select when I dress in the morning. So, when Zaara released her wonderful Pashmina scarves I was in heaven. Continue reading

Nevermore

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I wandered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and impossible in real life store.
Suddenly there came a flapping, flocks of birds madly flapping
Magpies, and parakeets and ravens flapping, landing at a Tableau store
Paper Couture’s fall collection, Only this, and nothing more.

Well, that’s a lot of effort for such a poor result and the original is so much more congenial. However, I confess the temptation was irresistable considering the stole I am wearing is from The Raven by Paper Couture.

Dance the night away!

Sunday afternoon Maht did one of his best sets ever at the Velvet – a homage to the great songwriters and I was ready to dance because I was eager to try out the new dances from Akeyo in a group. I prefer dances that don’t make the men dancing with me on my HUD look silly, and these Akeyo dances really fit the bill. Animazoo has some great ones, too, by the way. No disrespect to Sine Wave, which also produces some good club dances. It’s just that I cringe when I see a guy doing OMG. What can I say?   Anyway, eager to dance, I decided a nice miniskirt and tights would suit and sure enough they did.

Burlesquerie

It’s purely coincidence that the outfit I am proposing for Halloween fun today is completely free. This outfit is not an editorial comment on the Freebie debate. In fact, I shot the photos on the 22nd, a day before the Great Freebie Debate in which I agreed with everyone. I like freebies, I sometimes blog them. I also think that there’s a freebie glut right now.  Perhaps there will be a natural market correction. I also agree some shoppers are just dang rude, but do not believe the freebies make them rude.  Some people find anonymity liberating and become more creative, more open and more alive. Some find anonymity liberating and turn into creatures with the manners of a weasel, the morals of a polecat and the kindness of a badger. It’s not the freebies that make them that way; it’s their true nature. But now, back to fashion.

The Song

I am in love with that glorious line of rhinestones running down the back of the heel of these Dare pumps from Shiny Things.

Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just dont seem the same
Actin funny, but I don’t know why
scuse me while I kiss the sky

Hat Tip

Sometimes the best way to find the cutest top or whathaveyou is seeing it on someone else. While stopping at Hotel Dare to pick up a costume I will be posting later today I ran into fellow fashionista and It’s Only Fashion reader, Annabella Donner, who was wearing an adorable top. Really adorable, so I asked her where she got it and she sent me to Samara Designs and now I am wearing it in this photo.

Lucky Chair Parties – The Grid's Hen Party

Ah Zaaaaaaaaaaara

Ah Zaaaaaaaaaaara

posted by Gidge Uriza

It used to be that lucky chairs were full of junk no one wanted, but still – you were kinda tickled if you won.  Then slowly, good designers have added them. And now even, it’s become a truly fashionable trend to create the lucky chair only items.

Our desire to obtain what cannot be BOUGHT therefore creates spontaneous Lucky Chair Parties. Such as at Zaara one night.  Cajsa and I were shopping and decided to stop in to see what was up with the lucky chair – there was a beautiful new dress in the chair (pictured obviously). Continue reading
