The One Where I Do The Happy Dance

Posted by Gidge Uriza

WHY ARE MY FINGERS IN SHADOW! AAAAAAAH!! Okay, ANYWAYS…

I’m doing the happy dance. I’m seriously doing a dance of joy and this was the best way to show you. WHY? WHY?

Well, it all started like this, first I popped into Fleur cuz she’s got all her skins 1/2 price and I like her boutique skins – she’s got some pretty faces and I wanted to take a long gander at what she had just to see if there were any I needed. (cough, cough).

While I’m there studying face by face…I just notice she’s got a freebie up on the wall. And I say, SELF – I wonder what is IN that freebie? I check it’s contents and it’s several skins I HAVE….but it’s also a nice assortment for “newbies” of her Vivant skins which I had never tried.  A range of tones, etc. Continue reading

Indy 500 Formal Fashion

posted by Gidge Uriza

If you know the right people, you don’t get just invited to cook-outs and up scale house parties or club venues. You get invited to fancy shmancy 500 affairs like the Governor’s Ball and the like. They’re all over town and the ladies in their black and white strive to put one another to shame. Continue reading

O Admiral, My Admiral

My apologies to Walt Whitman.

Last Saturday, I saw Uma’s marvelous post with the My Admiral Jacket from Milk Motion. She is one of my favorite bloggers and someone whose originality and fashion wit brings real joy and elan to the feed.  I have never met her, but certainly get the impression that she is what we call “nice people” in my neck of woods as her blog is always positive and a delight. When I saw that jacket I knew I had to have it and seriously, it was a struggle to take it off. In fact, I wore it in two outfits back to back.

Walking on Sunshine

Last night Maht and I both retired from MDR Photo Studio – leaving our baby in the capable hands of Arcadia and Rhodesy and we celebrated with a lovely party. I made a clear platform (one I used for shooting in the past) at 200 feet so it’s right in the middle of the clouds and we danced on air. Actually, Achariya took some really great photos. Since it was in the clouds, I didn’t want lots of flexis to disappear depending on my angle, so I chose this lovely new dress from Paper Couture. Dressy, great for dancing and no long flowing skirt to disappear.

I Want to be a Hero! Part V of I ♥ EC Week.

Do you want to feel like a heroine in an historical romance? What are your options? You could go to acting school and get cast is a B-movie. You could track down Fabio and pose for a book cover for the newest bodice-ripper. Or you could click on the folder from Evie’s Closet with the Chimera gown in it.  Much cheaper than acting lessons or plane tickets to Italy or wherever.  Now, if there was ever a bodice made for ripping, look at the sweet sweet romance of the bodice on the Chimera dress.  Riiiiiiiiiip.

Yummy!

Yummy! That’s what popped into my head when I saw this fabulous jacket which is part of a fabulously beautiful outfit with a rich cream skirt. A stunning outfit but I wanted to mix it up a bit and make it more casual what with this being I ♥ Evie’s Closet week and all. So I went for this fab cotton skirt from A la Folie and some rad shoes.

If I Ruled the World: Day Three of I ♥ EC Week

This week you have seen how Evie’s Closet dresses can make you feel like a Princess and a Jazz Queen. Today, however, I am featuring a dress that will make you have visions of empire. Yes, this is a dress for the doyenne of dominions in every hemisphere. Queen Victoria, Empress Theodora, Maria-Theresa, these are the rulers worthy of this regal power and elegance.  Just look at that skirt – it’s made for sweeping up tiny countries.

Want to feel like a queen? Pt. 2 of I <3 EC Week

Now who wants to be Princes of QuiteALot when you could be Queen of Everything? Well, maybe not everything, but this dress from Evie’s Closet is one that makes me feel like a Jazz Queen. Maybe the Queen of Sweden who comes to Minnie the Moocher’s Wedding Day?  Wait, that was the King of Sweden, wasn’t it If so, well that makes the song much more “political” as he was rumored to be Joe Hill’s father. But that’s too stream of consciousness for fashion blogging. Focus!  So let’s focus on the lovely Octavia dress from Evie’s Closet. It’s got a gorgeous Greco-Roman style that would make it at home in the Senate or the Agora, but for me, also makes me think of the Egyptian Revival that flourished during the Jazz Age, which is why I paired it with Art Deco jewelry.
